Might be one of your best videos yet! Thank you for not speeding up the in-flight portion and no musical overlay. The views out the port side at the 6:40 and 8 to 9 minute marks are the reason why I love flying so much. Simply stunning
Thanks. I did use this as a time lapse in a vlog and posted it to patreon. I meant to post it as a stand alone video to the channel a couple of days later but, got busy at work and forgot about it. I've been sitting in a hotel for four days and noticed this way down in my que. Then I'm like, oh man I ment to post that.
I like the right seat guy. Seems very laid back and competent at the same time.
He is and likes to do things on layovers.
But he doesn't like to be on camera! So, his wishes are respected. :D
He's like the Bob Ross of pilots the way he talks.
LtKernelPanic -- lol....hopefully 'happy accidents' are only limited to spilling coffee
Actually, I always thought he was more a Chuck Yeager kind of talk, slow, calm, methodical and nothing bothers him.
Great video, Jim. I love it when you include ATC on departure through climbout ( and on arrival), puts me back in the cockpit while recovering from surgery. I hope to be back in the air in a few months. ATC did a nice job of threading the needle through the storms. Absolutely beautiful video, thanks, helps me stay sane while temporarily grounded.
Thanks James. Hope you recover quickly.
That is without question one of the most beautiful sunsets I've ever seen from an aircraft.
Thanks Joseph.
Love the F/O's voice, you can tell by listening he's done lots of flying. "C'mon baby"!
I think he's got about 24,000 hours. Retired Air Force and Airline.
Your co-pilot sounds like a golf commentator! I would probably fall asleep just listening to his voice if I was flying with him.
Gavin Ray and back rub would be great while listening to him.
Captmoonbeam thanks for sharing great departure and the ATC chatter was awesome, please when you can give us more of this.
Thanks Darryl, will do.
i love how 90% of the time he tries to talk the plane off the runway. "come on baby" 😂😂 gets me every time!! great vid!!!!
I have noticed that every time he does it, the plane immediately leaves the ground. I can't argue with success.
captmoonbeam AGREED! mayb i should try that.... although im not sure i have the smooth, convincing voice that he has! 😂😂 ill let you know if it works for me! 🤓👍
Very clean video. Love the A.T.C. Wish I could fly like you guy's, but I am too old. You guy's look like you are having fun. I envy you all.
Thanks Thomas. For the most part it is fun.
Man that was some ominous looking weather to the left. I love your co-pilots voice. He should have been a late night DJ.
He missed his calling.
Gotta love those Miami sunsets/evening storms
Yes you do.
What a video! Storms were awesome! Had some pretty big ones in the UK recently. Always taken back by there power. Great work as always Capt!
They're just great big energy machines. Thanks
Breaking out on top is one of the reason I always wanted to fly. When it's gray and cold or stormy, it would be nice to see some sunshine!
Yeah, but Ben, depending on what airplane you have, how big the storm is, etc, remember, you might have to go back down through it!
Nice, at this airport I took off for the first time as a student pilot from RW 13 in a Cessna 152. Greetings from Brazil.
Thanks Erick
Great stuff! A perfect example of how a crew should work together
Thanks Brian
I agree with Scott major. SIC's voice is intense
View out left window was absolutely gorgeous , wow !😘
Thanks. Sadly, I didn't have video of the storms off the right wing.
This is the type of person that I am growing up to be! Love your videos, aviation is our world :)
Thanks Bruno. Best to you.
Another great video.
Beautiful. One of your best photographically. Thank you form sharing.
Thanks Neill.
Great videos wonderful views
Nice flying cap
Thanks for posting Captain, what a beautiful world up above those clouds!
Sometimes it's very majestic up there.
Excellent!
Thanks Bryan
Excellent! Thanks, Cappy!
You're welcome.
Cool as always!
Thanks.
Outstanding .
Thanks.
Typical afternoon storm in FL. It's not a normal day unless you get the emergency alert system calling for a severe thunderstorm warning or a tornado watch. Nice video.
Thanks. Just another day in southern Florida.
captmoonbeam yeppers lived and raised in florida in the Melbourne area and that was 2pm"time to go in" 5pm "hey it's nice out"
Another great video Jim, amazing views thanks for sharing
Thanks Barry.
Awesome!
Thanks.
Great flight guys many thanks and keep them coming cheers
thanks. Will do.
Absolutely amazing video with ATC.. awesome job!
Thanks.
Perfect video! Love the ATC (and it looks like others do too! 😀) and the views are amazing. Thanks for the video as always. Be safe and take care, Bill
thanks BIll and you do the same.
Nice action video Capt. Tnx for sharing with us!
Thanks Adino
Thanks Jim. Another great Vid. Am amazed at the cloud structures and how busy ATC is. Fly safe.
Thanks Robert. Stay safe in those Olive groves.
fullish atc round a hazard. Ioved this, thank you from a beginner getting used to atc
Thanks Darren
Seriously stunning views, WOW!
Thanks Alex.
What a bunch of storms to port side on take off. Some really great footage on this flight Jim - one mother of a storm to West when you changed to 330 vector. Then some great cloud top views... a certain beauty to all that. Great video :)
I was really happy to capture the storm that was just to the north. What I didn't get was the monster storm just off our right wing.
Spectacular!
Thanks.
TY for the Great Video as It's been a Horrific week and this Is what I have needed to Take My Mind off of things!
Thanks Jack. I hope things start getting better.
You paint some amazing pictures Cpt Moonbeam.
Thanks Andrew.
Great video!
thanks Andy.
Fantastic video of the bay as you were avoiding the storms then as you break out at about 16k. Thanks for sharing as always Jim.
Thanks Chris. I appreciate the feedback.
LOL !! Co Pilot sounds like a golf commentator. He's so slow and rhythmic. I can just here him at the Masters "Here we are at fourteen, a par four, two hundred, fifty two yard, dogleg to the left. Hazards on the right, have have proved challenging for...". and "We're here on the green at eleven..." LOL ! Great video Jim as always !
Thanks Randy.
Hi Jim, nice reminder what it was like coming out of Orlando (Mcoy) back to the UK. Radar used to vector us after take off, to avoid the Cb's. Using our radar on the aircraft as backup. It was a great service. Unlike europe, most, if not all atc radar suppressed weather returns. So it is down to the crew to decide the route through the nasty stuff. Love watching your video's flying around the great USA. Retired now three years, but still miss it.
It's nice having the confirmation of ground radar with on board radar.
Beautiful clouds and CB's formation out there !!!!
Thanks.
Awesome video!
thanks.
beautiful
Thanks.
thx to drummer for advertising this video
Who's Drummer?
Very well done. Always better with the ATC
Hi Steve.
I really enjoyed this video. Great views. Greetings from Bangkok.
Thanks. Hope all is well in Bangkok.
I flew from KJKA- KOCH the day this was recorded. Alabama- Texas. Those scattered storms caused a tremendous amount of deviations
They absolutely play havoc with the ATC route structure in Southern Florida.
Wow.. That was a great break in the sky on your left hand side when you came out of the cloud cover...Nice....The sun was shining through...Looking good....I got a close friend coming back from Miami tonight Sunday July 23, 2017 today....
Hi Marcus, Hopefully he has a good flight.
Yes, he said his flight was very nice..
We had some wild weather here in south Florida the past few days.
Sometimes Florida just fill up with thunderstrms
Co-pilot sounds like the guy on PBS that use to do the Joy of Painting. Lol
I Need to get him to start narrating my videos.
just aaaawwwwssssuuuummmm
Thanks
Great video skipper; did you notice at 07:05 the cloud formation? It almost looks like a funnel one all the way to ground (at least it looks to me), this a very good video captain!
thanks Hector. It does look like that.
Hello Captain, I am a 30yr old combat veteran of Iraq. I am starting flight school at an IL flight school college Fall 2017. I have soloed in a sailplane, but that was when I was 15 and through Civil Air Patrol. Father was ATC for USAF and FAA for 30+yrs, Mother is flight instructor rated but not current. Aviation is where my heart is and I absolutely admire you and the experiences you share. If you have the time I would greatly appreciate any advice, tips, etc. from you or your co-workers regarding a pilot's career. At this time I do not have a desire to fly for the major airlines, I am more intrigued by corporate, CFI, or single pilot careers. Safe travels to you, your co-workers, and your passengers. Thank you Captain!
Thanks. You've got me beat, I always wanted to fly a glider and you've soloed one. The most important piece of advice I have and it's the simplest is to make friends with people who are working as pilots. Do this whether you want to be an airline pilot or corporate pilot. Hang out at your local airport or get a job working at an FBO and start making new friends. Most aviation people love sharing what they do. These people will be your mentors and a source of good information and contacts on pilot job openings. They will also be a source of encouragement when things seem to be taking longer than you expected. Good luck
Veteran's Benefits! Seriously. Since you're starting a flight school, you're going to be busy. Jim is right, though. Make friends, acquaintances and contacts. Decide now what you want to do, Airline, Charter, Corporate, and work through to that goal. Doesn't mean you have to DO those things, but you'll be working towards a goal. Most Flight Schools will leave you at 250-300 hours when you are completed. Now, because of the throwback from the Colgon 3407 crash, you'll need 1,500 hours to step onto a commercial aviation flight deck, along with your ATP rating (which requires the minimum of 1,500 of flight time). Between graduation and Airline, you'll probably be doing a lot of flight instruction, but keeping those friends and contacts might end you up elsewhere, like in the right seat of a corporate jet, or even the left seat of a small business owned aircraft. You may end up not wanting to go Commercial. There are pros and cons either way. Make sure you have a good amount of money, aviation and flying are a great way of turning a large pile of cash into a rather small pile, rather quickly, and I'm not talking about while IN school, I mean afterwards, until you find a good paying gig. Even today, new hire First Officers may only be making $30-40K per year. There are some burger flippers making that, in some places! So, a second, or even third income, isn't going to hurt you to have. But, stick it out, move up the ranks, and put your time in, and you'll make a good amount of money eventually. I wonder now what would have happened if I had used my VA Bennies to go to Flight School, since back then, they would have paid 90% of it. Too immature, and too stupid, I guess. That was a LONG time ago. Heck, who knows, I might even be getting ready to retire in five years or so!
Thank you Sir, I will make the most of your advice and I appreciate you taking the time to respond. My flight time and solo in a Schweizer SGS 2-33A is something I will never forget. We launched via C-172 and C-182 with a 200ft. tow rope. It was the most peaceful and relaxing time I have ever had. No avionics at all. The only sound is the air that flows around the aircraft. I do not consider myself even close to having you beat. I do highly recommend you pursue your desire to fly a glider and I look forward to the video if you choose to record it. Thank you again Captain.
Mr. Gary C, Thank you as well sir for your educational and inspiring words. Sir, a person cannot change the past, a person can only learn from it to improve the future.
Just heard you at KSUS in N2U.
Hi Blake.
You were painting some pretty nasty stuff there. The view out the window was spectacular, though!
We went right between the cells.
Yeah, I noticed that. Sometimes, having a jet is just really nice to get up and over that stuff. Okay, FL230 wasn't 'over' it, but it cleared you of a lot of it.
Very nice departure and video! Thunderstorms just look sooooo amazing from the air, not from the ground tho XD
Thanks.
Love this and your video(s). Not certain about the comment 'bug smashers' - were must of us started at one point. Keep up the good work! Thumbs up as always..
I promise that didn't come out of my mouth. it was the other guy.
I agree with the comments. I like the format, only miss the morning sandwich!
Thanks Arich.
Awesome video. Are you still coming through ICT at some point next month?
Could be as late as October now.
captmoonbeam right on. I'm still here but now M-F 7-3. Weekends off are nice lol
A VERY beautiful steady-stream video. It's truly a blessing for you to "touch-the-face-of-God" every once in a while.
Thanks Philip. That's a good way to put it.
Great video. What was the beeping and "Let it go" we kept hearing?
"One to go." the beep is the altitude alerter that signal with a beep that we are 1,000 ft from our target altitude.
captmoonbeam Ahh ok. That sound is different in other aircraft.
Hi from France, I am a huge fan. By the way, did you take off with the APU on?
Hi Romain. France is one of those countries I'd love to visit. I think we did takeoff with it. We normally do,
Another great video. Just a question or two for you. Why do some commercial pilots indicate "Heavy" in their responses? How is that important to ATC?
The reason the term heavy is used in communications is to alert Air Traffic Control (ATC) and other aircraft of their presence. The concern is that these very large aircraft produce significant wake turbulence, expecially from their wingtip vortice. copied from Wikipedia The term heavy is used, with exceptions noted below, during all radio transmissions between air traffic control and any aircraft which has been assigned a maximum takeoff weight (MTOW) rating of 136 tonnes (300,000 lb) or more.
very good answer.
Dave E Ok. For spacing considerations. Thank you. So probably all wide body, twin aisle aircraft.
For several months here in FL we were dry in our rainy season. We got 6 inches behind where I live. Now for the last two months almost daily storms. Global warming?!😎
I came through some of that stuff Thursday.
Common baby.
Question. Is a take off run longer in hot dry air compared to hot humid air?
No. Moist air is less dense than dry air. Dry air would actually lend itself to a shorter roll. The most unfavorable condition for aircraft/engine performance is hot, moist/humid air.
Thanks.
Sounds like your flying with Liam nesson from taken. Well I'm switching instructors come August. Should be better This is Jeremy over by Houston I changed my KZhead name
Hi Jeremy. Good luck with the new instructor.
Who do u work for. I would love to have a schedule like yours. I am a pilot in training at the age of 13. I have about 12 hours in the air. I was just thinking about my future and who I wanted to fly for and where. Could u please tell me?
My schedule is very unpredictable.
captmoonbeam: that's what I like about it. Do you recommend any other person or corporate airlines. I really want this life as an adult
Please I just want to know maybe a basic corporate airline company. I've been really interested in NetJets
Being a pilot is a big thing in my life. I really just wanted any suggestions or help
Could you remind me what "heavy" means..?
Aircraft with a takeoff wt of 300,000 lbs or more.
The comments are almost as excellent as the video :)
Hi Floyd.
Captain, hope you're getting some trick-down revenue stream from the commercials interrupting your fine videos.
Thanks Tim. Only about 25% of my videos have an add on them. Never figured out how youtube decides which to put an add on.
☀️🏝👋🏻👨🏼✈️🛩
:)
Great vid as always Jim! Cardinals playing the Cubs right now...I have to unsubscribe until tomorrow...lol Just kidding
Thanks Brian
I don't know about you, but I get real nervous when the pilot flying says "come on, baby..." at rotation. Please get him out of that habit!
k1mgy the rotation seemed a little bit sluggish in the video, particularly after the PIC said that phrase, but perhaps that's normal.
I think adding a nervous "please..." at the end would be icing! lol
