  • I'm 43, riding forest and road since I was 10. last year I wanted to learn mx. Found myself in the 3/4 zone and guilty of blipping. AJ, your tutorials are the reason why I'm now a confident jumper. Much appreciation from Australia cheers

    • @AjCatanzaro I also thank you much for your content! I totally understand that you need to do this for a living or else you would not have the time to. At the same time you still put out a lot of good information supporting all riders who wish to take it in and that says a lot man!! The world's moto community needs that so bad!!

  • Great information!! As always! Thanks for sharing to make us safer and better riders!!! I just realized I'm a 3/4 jumper on the big boys and have always said I'm great at casing the jumps if needed (thanks to you!!), but I would like to clear them one day, so just a little more speed on the way in and I think I'm golden!!! Let's go!!

  • I was living in the bounce zone for a while until some kid younger than me. I was 9 at the time and he was like 6 years old. He told me that I jumped like a baby bird. lol. Since that day I started to clear all the jumps. It's harsh when it comes from a kid that is much smaller and younger than you.

  • Problem is jumps sort of close out of turns. Especially on a 2 stroke. If your corner speed is not there, then you have to accelerate harder. I find even trying this in higher gear on a 2 stroke scary. I've had so many air wheelies, swabs, etc on jumps with 2 strokes, as a vet novice rider. I have a very deep ingrained fear of jumping. I have switched to a 150sx instead of tc 250. That 250 is wild, I finally went to soft map, yellow PV spring, and PV turned in almost halfway. Still really just too much bike for my level.

  • So how do I get out of the 3/4 zone? And not go that bit too much that I OJ, particularly on big jumps?

    @notorious_turtle@notorious_turtle28 күн бұрын
    • Idk how big you think big is, but most jumps are 3rd gear 3/4 throttle in my experience. Better to overjump a bit than to bounce. This past weekend I overjumped a 50+ ft long 30ft high step up with a steep landing twice, with no issues, if I bounced it that probably would’ve been catastrophic. Realize that most jumps you only need to go around 35mph to clear. Some bigger ones require 45+. I highly recommend following someone around your speed that is doing the jump you want to try and go ever so slightly faster than them. Also once you commit the first time you need to be 100% committed or you will case it. I lived in the 3/4 zone for many medium sized jumps (mainly doubles because of bad crashes trying to commit to them and not giving it enough speed) when I was racing 65s and 85s. Now I’m on a 250 I got the balls to commit and it’s such a breath of fresh air. Once you do it the first time you realize it was that easy the whole time and you were just in your head about it.

  • Maybe someone can advise me. I am a newbie, 46 years old, honda hrf450r. I keep my throttle as consistent as I can over the crest of the ramp, but it still feels like the bike drops like a stone below me, causing me to almost go over the top. Should I increase my throttle a bit?
