Pocket Bike Won't Start Help: Quick Fix

In this video I show you the quick way to clean out the jet in your carb. This can help if your bike isn't starting at all or is starting but it bogging out or dying. Feel free to comment with any questions and I'll try to answer. Sorry about the filming, my brother wouldn't help me so I had to film it myself.

took me straight to the problem! thanks. I also looked closely inside my fuel tank and saw crap in there. so I drained the old fuel while I cleaned the brass shaft and it started again.

Hey man, I just had to tell you that have a good take on this common problem and I enjoyed the video. I wanted to share one thing that also causes the same problems: At around 10.55 or so you can see the float actuator (light metal yoke that swivels on a slide pin) that moves a needle valve. That needle valve is the second most common place for dirt to accumulate. If you remove the slide pin, float retainer and needle valve and clean with spray carb cleaner it will solve a lot of issues that aren't covered by your procedure. AND, if you do the procedure that you outline in this video and remove the throttle slide from the top you can clean the jet you removed IN PLACE as well as clean the slide and entire assembly with very little chance of cross threading anything (brass jets into aluminum) so its worth looking into next time you do this. WHICH, you will twice a year cause these things get more dirt in the fuel than a weed wacker in the dessert. Great video, have fun!

if not starting, check the ignition the fuel and the intake, check this major things if not starting, the spark plug, the carburetor, ignition coil, fuel filter, wirings, and also check the fuel tank..

It might be wrong i think u may have your inline filter the wrong way around did u fit it with arrow pointing down towards the engine they normally have a arrow showing which way the fuel needs to flow.

i had my mini dirt bike it running for ages and i haven't used it in a while and i just tried to start it up, nothing. didn't even sound like it wanted to start, so i poured fuel into the spark plug hole and it started straight away, but then cut out, now it wont start at all? I think its because no fuel is getting to engine but don't see why as i have a brand new carb and air filter and yes i have fuel mixed correctly
I noticed you removed the front fairing where there should be a key, how did you eliminate the key?
ima try and clean the carb again i took mine all out left it in gas to loosen some oil or what not but when i put it back together it seems that there migt be a problem could be dirt it only starts with choke on and when i open the choke meaning to let more air it bogs well, thanx for the vid
Mine hasn't started in around 5 years broke the pull start, tried every year or so and after almost getting a heart attack from the pulling I almost gave up. I even tried to weld a nut to the starter so I could use my drill haha can't weld aluminium. Today cleaned the jet and bang she ran.
Nice video. The stock fuel lines get hard and brittle as result from the Ethenol in out fuel.

I'm rebuilding one right now for my nephew. I'm assuming starting it with the real wheel in the air might help cause the clutch locks and wants to turn the rear wheel not allowing it to rev.
deeds millar yes, thats how the clutch works. Shouldn't stop you from lightly revving tho. Good luck
What is the model of this pocket bike? I got this exact same one 6 years ago as a gift
on mine. the little tube connected to that part is leaking gas. is it suppose to do that? also somtimes my bike starts up then when i hit the throttle it shuts off

Try this spray carb cleaner or power tune in your gas tank get it to run then just let it idle lots of smoke will come out of your exhaust its normal rev the engine every now and then until smoke stops or spray power tune only in the breather on the carb it will clean debris and dirt out of carb while ... Well fixin it (To an extent)
My pocketbike pull chord is way shorter than yours, do u think that could be the problem?

I have a 100cc mini pocket rocket don't know the maker, but i broke my carburetor and i put a smaller carburetor on it, will it affect it in anyway?
Yes it won't be as powerful
Remove old gas even the gas line. spray carb cleaner often. let cleaner set overnight. mix new oil gas. check spark plug. if it still wont go try starter fluid but not much.

the flout doesn't let fuel in it sits on a little arm in your case and when there's no fuel it doesn't flout and as it fills up it rises and closes the needle.

How did you get such a nice noise out of your bike? Is it a 49cc engine? What exhaust?
it's 47cc and everything is stock. Not sure why it sounds different than yours
Its a 2 can pipe thats why
If the issue is not the fuel line and you believe it is the carb, try buying carb cleaner for cars and use it on the bike also the bubble on the carb may be cracked or popped, hope this helped

My mini dirt bike hasn't run for about 2 years and the other day i tried to start it, it started but cut out very shortly, i tried it again and it started then cut out . Today it isn't starting, i cant even hear the exhaust wanting to start. I've looked at loads of different videos and they're not really helping. Does anyone know what to do? I dont know much about mini bikes so i dont want to take it apart too much as i might muck it up. Please help
you have to switch off the air filter and you turn on the gas tank button and it will be work, you wait 30 seconds not more and you switch on the air filter... Try, you don't risk anything...
My pocket bike won't start ... I put in a new spark plug and clean the carburetor once alrighty. Any suggestions?

Pull the start a few times then turn the gas flow off and pull again and that should work!its a common problem hope this helps

you might need to replace the motor I have a 125cc pit bike but mine is racing
your piston rings are shot. you need a top end rebuild of a neat place in the garbage can.
When ur tuggin on the pull cord don't keep ur hand on the throttle only let bits in at a time cos thats just floodin it

on top of the carbrator the throtle line is black it screws into the carb take it out . then hold throtle in and it should bring the black peace up and then keep holding the throttle in and screw it back into the carb

+Jake Rowe I had the same problem as you, what I did was: Clean the carburator, clean the hole of the needle with WD-40 then dry it completely, I took out the spark plug, cleaned it with a hard brush. BUUUT, I broke the piston rings wich broke the entire piston cover. Have you checked your rings? It could be a compression problem as it sounds
Either bad fuel and needs tune or Remove your carb inspect fuel clean carb with ultra sonic or use carb clean and an air line , replace hose and petcock check tune if the carb has a high needle

My mini dirt bike hasnt run for a while and the other day it started, the problem is that it went straight to full rev's when i hadn't twisted the throttle at all, as i wasnt expecting it the bike fliped backwards and the throttle snapped as well as part of the fairing. I am scared to start it again because of this. I've been told that my throttle slider is in the wrong way, but is there any other things that are causing this? Please help
Try clean out the carburettor but if it's an older bike don't replace the carburettor because all the other carburettors you buy are aftermarket you'll find their alot better than the aftermarket but also replace the gasket that links through the engine

Well the worst problem for mine was I replaced the engine then my uncle who knows a hell load of info about 2 stroke small engines and 4 strokes said the carburettor gaskets might be gone causing a vacuum leak I've been going through carburettor by buying a new one fitting it and still not starting found out all I had to do is change the gaskets. The gasket you need to change are the carburettor gasket that attaches the carb onto the plastic black manifold thing and the gasket that's attaches the the plastic inlet manifold thing onto the engine where the reads are. www.amazon.co.uk › ... › Engine Gaskets try the link it's best to get all gaskets but just pit on the carburettor and reeds gasket

My pocket bike does not starts, I know it needs a mixture of oil and gas, but I can't find what type of model it is, so any idea what the average mixture is? And if that's not the problem any other ideas?
Probably try 25 parts fuel to 1 part oil but I'm not sure

Hey man you need to fully remove the jet on the inside of the carb. There should be a bolt with a jet poking out on the bottom of the carb, take that off the us a flat head screwdriver to take off the second one. Once it's out just lightly tap the two parts apart with a hammer they should just come apart. PS. The gasket in the carb may be fucked so you might want to replace it while you have it apart
