    • I noticed that too, they should of used new oil, plus all bearings were reassembled dry, also one of the brake shoes was badly damaged, they should of replaced both before refitting the drum. That said they would of saved the owner at least £1,000 if he’d taken it to an HGV garage for the same repair, though a garage would of replaced with a new gearbox costing around £5,000 at least.

    • @@Munter1 These guys are using very basic tools, there is very little profit in this work. I believe this is filmed in Pakistan and although what you are saying is true, this rebuild is on shoe string budget. I doubt they even had an instruction manual or rebuild kit. I'm sure they just measured the bearings and seals and found nearest fit. I have to say considering the circumstances they did a great job. I doubt they charged more then £100 In labour for this rebuild.

    • The Old oil contains all the good stuff to help in the break in of the transmission ! Plus if it's not bad why replace it !

Trabalhei quando criança no posto de gasolina da minha família no bairro do Cambuci… Há dois tipos de trabalhadores; os quais são explorados e os que aprendem algo em função de algum desejo. Quando criança observava meu pai trabalhando na mecânica e aos poucos ele e meus tios foram me ensinando e assim me passando a essência de responsabilidades, aprender a organizar, projetar e executar o seu trabalho. Hoje agradeço muito meu passado, talvez na visão de muitos sim seria trabalho infantil, mas o que muitos não veem é que ali a escola não ensina o que é o mundo real. Hoje não trabalho com mecânica tão frequente, faço bicos aos finais de semana em uma garagem especializada em carros clássicos aqui no Japão. mas montei para mim uma Lotus Europa (a qual vendi) e hoje tenho um mini clássico 1977 (último dos MKIII) que restaurei graças a todo aprendizado que meu pai me passou na forma de trabalho. Talvez esses garotos terão um belo futuro, exercendo alguma profissão e se tornando pessoas do bem em sua sociedade.

    • @@TheRastaclad I use kerosene for engine parts but use it lightly and with gloves. Really old backyard stuff but working in the trades I know that stuff is brutal on bare skin

    • @@oldsrktracer when I was 10 once I worked with my uncle in a garage, where we had the same inventory, I cleaned so much parts with gasoline on bare hands at the end of the day my arms were burning so much I thought I got punctured by something on my arms but then my uncle told me it was the gasoline, and that was my first time, immagine him working 30+ years cleaning part with gasoline🤧

  • I always meticulously cleaned any engine, gearbox or component prior to dismantling. It not only reduced the amount of dirt, grit and foreign objects on the item being worked on, it kept the parts washer fluid cleaner. Dismantling a thoroughly cleaned item makes it easier to see and identify what falls or drains out. The worst video I saw had guys rebuilding a truck engine on a dirt floor. The lack of a torque wrench was the least of it's problems...
