  • Her brown, glassy eyes remained fixed on the soldier in front of her, ignoring the pain that shot through her body. "I just... I just want you to tell me what happened to him," she muttered, her voice almost cracking and tears began to weld up, her vision blurry. Another pause. Another hesitation. Another silence. The soldier's gaze shifted to the crimson ground left from the battle that would see no end. The man's silence had already given her her answer. She just didn't want to believe. The truth stung, almost more than the action itself. "He told me to - to give this to you," he grabbed something out of his pocket, shuffling through until his fingers found what he was searching for. A heavy, breaking sigh escaped the tall soldier, whose clothes were smeared with his blood and the blood of his enemies. "He- he kept it safe and... passed it along to me," he pulled his hand out of his pocket, revealing a blue iris. The sight of the familiar flower made her heart shatter into a million pieces. Her trembling hands covered her mouth, tears now rolling down the sides of her cheeks. Panic began to slither its way into the broken pieces of her heart like a serpent; preparing to strike her at any given moment. _No, no- but she had to stay strong.... For them.... For them. None of them could see her like this._ "He told me to give this to his sister," the soldier pressed on through his own pain as the sun cast its last whisper of light over the horizon; dark clouds now rolling across the sky and the moon taking its rightful place. _His sister._ Her knees felt weak as they no longer could carry her weight. The girl went to the wood doorframe, her eyes drifting across the pathway in front of her house that eventually was met by a valley of flowers. Those same familiar flowers, although, they may as well all be burnt from the fires and painted by blood. "His strong sister," continued the soldier, his voice cracking. He held his hand out, the single blue iris in his scarred, bloody hand. There were tears in his own dull blue eyes. Those dull blue eyes that once held the same innocence and joy this girl had, but now almost lifeless with the horrors the battlefield brought. "He left me a message to give to you. To... Take care of your mother, your sister, and your brothers. He told me to - to tell you... Even though we're apart, he'll never be too far from home." Her eyes slowly drifted back to the flower, remembering the last time he had given her one. They had been in the very field across from their home, chasing each other through the field of flowers, laughter sweeping through the very valley that was now stained crimson. _"You remember what I told you, right, Nic?" Her older brother asked her gently as they both sat under the shade of the single tree that was in the valley, a willow tree._ _"I told you not to call me that anymore, Elias!" She snapped her long, brown hair that almost looked black, swaying as a gentle breeze swept through the valley. She stole a quick glance to him, her brown eyes narrowing to further get her annoyance across._ _Elias put his hands up in surrender, chuckling, "Okay, okay, yes, I'm sorry Nicole! Anyway," he leaned back on his hands, "do you remember?"_ _Nicole looked back to her handy work. A small crown made up of the flowers she had gathered in the field. "Hmmmm.... No, I don't think so," she hummed, gently placing the crown she had worked so hard on on the ground beside her. She leaned back, enjoying the summer weather while it lasted._ _The whole valley smelled of flowers._ _"Really?" Elias's eyes flicked to her, but she didn't meet his surprised gaze._ _"No... No I don't think so."_ _He let out an over-exasperated sigh. "Are you serious? You don't remember it? But, it was so important."_ _Nicole bumped him with her shoulder, laughing. "No! I remember! I was just kidding," and then under her breath, "I would never forget something so important."_ _Elias eyed her, almost doubtful. "Ah, okay then. What did I tell you then?"_ _The brown-haired girl grabbed her crown of flowers off the smooth grass and placed it gently upon her brother's head. "You told me... Even if we are miles apart, you'll never be too far from home."_ _A mischievous smile tugged at the corners of his mouth, ignoring the crown of flowers on his head. "Aaaannddd? What else?" His sister turned, her eyes now drilling into his._ _"Why are you always asking me? Why does it even matter?" She slapped him and huffed, "if you are so persistent, why don't you just say it yourself?!"_ _He sighed. "Okay, okay, fine, for you I'll say it," and quietly, "hehe, I love you to the moon and back, sis!"_ _"OH MY GOD, I HATE YOU!" Nicole slapped him once again. "No! That's not it! It's about these flowers, though I never understood why you said they are important. Blue Irises mean faith."_ _"Aaannnndddd?" he said slyly, picking a Blue Iris that was beside him._ _"And I'm going to fricking punch you. Stop," Nicole hissed. She took a few deep breaths, inhaling and exhaling until her frustration disappeared like Mama taught them. Her older brother twisted around with a tender smile, a Blue Iris in hand and gently put it behind her ear. "And_ "Hope." The words left her mouth before she could stop herself. The soldier paused for a moment and then nodded. "And hope. He told me.. Your brother.. Told me to tell you to have faith and have hope." But have faith and hope in what? - The END? Edit maybe 100 (but this is storyline stuff). ------ He could feel his capture's cold eyes on him as the man circled him like a snake, ready to strike at any given moment. He didn't know how long he had been here, or where "here" even was. It was all dark...clouded in gloom. It left an eerie feeling, and for once in his life, he was afraid. Sure, he had seen horrors on the battlefield; the images of his fallen comrades were engrained into his mind, but nothing would have prepared him for this. Walking down those dungeons and through those halls would forever haunt him. The faces, young and old, and their eyes that once held an innocence was snuffed out. They were weak. They had been broken. He had wondered how long these people had suffered in here and how long they had been clinging to the hope that one day they'd be free. Now, he found himself questioning the same. How long would he have to suffer? And how long would it take before it drove him to the brink? "What did you think of the tools?" The man finally spoke, his voice cryptic and sent shivers down his spine. "Is that what you call them? Tools? How long have they been here?!" He shouted, his eyes narrowing. The man chuckled as he stopped his pacing. "Oh! And what are you going to do about it? Try and escape? I'll have you know it didn't end well for the last tool who tried to escape me." "You've beaten them to the point of broke..." his voice wavered, "How could you do this? Does human life mean NOTHING to you? What do you WANT from these people!?" The man laughed again. "Don't you see?! Don't you get it?!" He twisted; a wicked smile plastered on his face. "This..." a glow emitted from the corners of his eyes. "This is only the beginning, Elias." ------ Author's note: Wow. I kind of feel silly writing this idea in a comment section on KZhead of all places, but here we are x.x I do plan on continuing this, for anyone wondering! I just don't really know where. I am considering AO3, as you CAN post your own original stories on that platform, but I don't know when I would. So, for now, I'm just gonna write a few things on here - although, lol, it's definitely not the place for it but who cares? Oh! What did you think of this updated version? Plot twists! Everybody likes those! Where could Elias be? Is he going to survive? Escape? Reunite with Nicole? And, speaking of Nicole... What will happen with her? Guess we'll find out later on.

  • “He died the way he lived… bad decisions and a lot of dedication. Okay, the first part is arguable. He did save several lives. Could’ve saved more if he lived, but… he would never have walked away, would he? The fool… That damn, naive fool. He could have just ignored them, and lived to fight another day. He could have been smarter. Could have been more… more… I don’t know, but just, he could’ve lived. But… It would have made him less than he was. So here’s a toast to a fool at heart, and a better man than us. I’ll miss him.”

  • staring at the scene around her, she longed to see that familiar face. The face that joined her in battle more times than not. The face that lit up when she walked into a room. The face of the man that she had fell in love with long before the war began, but a face that she knew would be with her always. "Where is he? We've won this battle, it's time to celebrate." She smiled, but her gut had a sinking feeling, as the other soldiers stood with somber looks. "Let us tell you how he lived. How he become a hero."

    • -No adress- Dear Mrs Williams, Thank you for your letter, and congratulations on turning seventeen. I would have loved to be there. You're almost an adult now! But you will always be, my little girl. I have been a little tired lately, so my next letter will be later than usual. Bombs have been exploding for three days and nights straight. Don't worry, I'm fine. Unfortunately, negotiations have broken down. Before the war is over, autumn will have arrived. The nights are getting more chilly. Don't forget to buy a new winter coat. Your red coat has its sleeves unraveling. One of the bombs exploded close to our base. Don't worry, I'm fine. But my next letter will be sent later than usual, it might even take months this time. You can still send me letters, I would love to hear more from you. I wish we were together again. My dearest goodbyes to you, Your forever supporter.

    • What is honor, if not sacrifice? I wish you were more selfish. I wish you worried less about me. I wish you cared about yourself more. It's okay if you miss a few days at work. It's okay to be sick sometimes. It's okay to be angry sometimes. But you are none of these. You are my father, and a husband. You are a carer of the chronically ill. You are my moral compass. And you are so much more. You are things I wish you weren't. Maybe you would have lived a little longer then. But then you also wouldn't have been a hero.

The old man began when his voice broke. " I tried to carry him but we were escaping and He'd lost his leg shielding me. Me!? " "It is the duty of the old to protect the young. To die for the young and here I am living cause of a boy who should be standing here INSTEAD OF ME!" The girls eyes widened as here knees gave out. She didn't look at the soldiers behind the old man. Stopped searching their face for a familiar one a while ago. " So you left him to rot!? Among the enemies!? He will not even get a grave. They will burn him into cinders. He deserves to lay besides our parents. Not to be turned to ashes. You're all cowards..." "Your brother wanted us to live to tell you he died like a hero." "Funny, My brother also told me once to be wary of old men in a profession where men die young."

It is traumatizing but it is not when we die that people tell others our story, but how we lived... before war... but in peace... with ourselves...others... family members... wives... husbands... daughters... sons... friends... band of brothers/sisters in the barracks... telling each and every one that we are excited to get home and see our significant others and maybe kids... but, little do they know... some may never see the light of day again. It is in those moments we stand for our flag and stand for the ones who cannot (the injured)... We The People... United We Stand... Divided We Fall...

  • On that last charge...my lordship cut my saddle loose and as i dropped off all i could see was his face ...and the word...live...that day i watched as they smashed into the enemy and were engulfed buying the others just enough time to retreat in good order...their last stand went on for only precious minutes an entire generation of knights gone...lost defending those who may of may not have deserved it...days after the battle was over i went to look for him only to find him surrounded by corpses and run through...he died standing...his honor and ideals intact...a good ending...to a fine man....so now...i tend to him...as i did in his life...i wrappped him...buried him in his armor...and i prayed for him

  • Pölarisia’s weary eyes scanned the battlefield for hope. There would never be any to find. She knew. But hope is a lingerer, one that stays long after it is sent away, it clings hard, and it falls hard. Friends lay scattered, blood flowed like the river that flowed through her homeland, the river that was the reason, the reason why so many of her friends lay dead; she couldn’t do this anymore, she couldn’t keep this charade up any longer…she couldn’t let them down…Her sword lay in pieces at her feet, a reminder that she would always be what they had told her she would always be. A failure. She arose and limped toward one of the few familiar faces alive. Elizabeth. Her mentor. Pölarisia asked Elizabeth with a question of hope in her eyes. Elizabeth simply returned one of sorrow and pity. Her heart shattered, into a million pieces that could never be put together again. Gone. Forever. She stifled a sob. “How…did he…die?” “No child. The question is how did he live.” She felt trapped, but she had been trapped before, but this time she was trapped alone…alone with the constant companion of guilt. The guilt of blood. The guilt of betrayal. The guilt of all guilt… a friend’s guilt. “Who am I?” She asked toward the heavens. “Was I a friend?” “Was I a traitor?” “Was I a lover?” “Or was I a monster?”

  • He died a warrior. Following orders. Based on bad info. He did not cower, or hide, he did not cry or beg or give in. He died fighting for his life and the lives of hos comrades. Surounded, they dug in, and held for days waiting for reinforcments that never came. He stayed behind during the brakeout acting as a diversion so his comrades could make it to friendly lines.

He looks at his shaking hand before balling it into a fist as the memory of his comerade yelling for him to retreat flashed before his eyes. "He willed us to retreat while sending those mongrels back to hell." "I see. Then... Then it was a just death." The woman's hand lightly brushes against the chest plate of the fallen knight. "A death he could be proud of."

  • There was too many of them. All around the four warriors, all you heard was banging of drums, the thumping of hoves, and yells from not man, but beasts out to drink blood and eat flesh. He new that vengeance was seething in the morning air, and lose was evaporating in the dew. He looked at the men, saw their fear, their knowing of death impending. Moreover he saw her. He saw the tears and read the story of her soon to be devastated children written all over her face. He was never a selfless man, lived only to drown in pain at night and wake numb in the evenings. In his bones he knew he could take almost all of them, but never them all. He could feel time draining from his breath, the saddness changing in him to something like strength, maybe. He could see his blood on the feild spilled amongst a hundred dead and searing wounds ripping through his side, his back and eventually he could sense that nothingness he spent so many nights longing to tase. In that instance he could see why death was so easy for these monsters, he could embrace that darkness with them too. And she would walk home to her family once and for all. He said, "she will leave this feild" as he leaped over the wall and faced the warlords and devils there before them all.

  • Short story: It was a cold and stormy day when a nobleman named Cedrick von Barouck left his home country for war to protect the neighboring territory. He had a lady in waiting whom he hoped to marry after the war was over. When the battle took place and raged on for what seemed months on end, his comrades slowly died out. With his pride, he kept going forward and managed to take down the last remaining enemies on the field. The battlefield was nothing but bloodshed and bodies everywhere, Cedrick von Barouck stood proudly but he was left injured with a couple of stab wounds and a missing arm. His last wish was to see his lady one more time. He started walking and braced himself for the immense pain that he had to suffer for days. He managed to patch himself up with leftover bandages but still continued to bleed out after each step. As he reached his home country, everything was up in flames. His eyes widened in horror. There wasn't a living person in sight anywhere. He continued to drag himself to the lady's mansion and hopefully find her alive. He arrived at her home a few hours later. He stumbled through the burned door searching for his lady. Cedrick couldn't find her in the house as he wandered outside into the garden. He saw the body on the field of flowers and broke down into tears. He collapsed in front of his lady and fell next to her. Cedrick's injuries worsened as his dying words escaped his mouth while he reached for her hand and held it tightly. The light in his eyes slowly started to fade into a blank slate. "I love you, my lady." The end.

  • Kinda makes me wanna write another traggic story of a women who was betrayed and abused by this evil world or a world she exists and turns to revenge against the human race like my last story was. From love to hate, warmth to cold, light to dark, smiling to blank, generous to only giving when it would benefit her mission she was on, trusting others to never trusting them again. Wrote that story in the darkest time of my life so alot of emotion went into it.

" - Someone Brave “The truth is, everyone is going to hurt you. You just got to find the ones worth suffering for.” - Someone Smart (Bob Marley) Disclaimer: None of these quotes are mine, they all go to their original owners, whoever, they are.
