For anyone wondering why this game seems to hold up perfectly against today’s games, graphically. They had no choice. This was a “flagship” game. its main purpose was to show off what the Xbox could handle on day one. If anything this game is proof that today’s devs are just lazy and greedy. I still enjoy this game from time to time. It’s extremely linear, but it doesn’t try to hide it. Knows what it is, and does it well.

@@Rvscito dna is not part of history. that is bio stuff. history is story that happen. vandal sack rome. ostrogoth occupy italy. then the mostly greek eastern roman occupy italy, then the lombard occupy italy which to nowadays lombardy is still the name of a region in italy. roman army in late era was made of foederati...german, huns and others then lets not forget the pre empire era. the northern area were home to cisalpine gaul which are celtic people. the southern area were home to greek people. roman true home region is only the central area. but then i understood that they were soon romanised. but still doesnt make them pure roman of rome. so what was the benchmark of the dna? true roman(roman of rome)? romanised roman(italian, greek, celtic, german, syrian, northern african, iberian)? or including every tribe that lived in roman empire under foederati contract?
@malayafreespirit19052 жыл бұрын
@@malayafreespirit1905 You are very confused...I will help you to understand In the late Empire, the Germans starts to join the Roman army, to obtain citizienship The sack of Rome wasn't "so bad"...when the Vandals arrives at the Gates of Rome, the Pope (he already exist) negotiate a "peaceful" sack with the Vandals The pact was: Vandals can take all the precious things in the city (except Pope and Senatorial things), but they have to spare the people So, it was the most peaceful sack of the history (still so sad, but at least anyone died) Ostrogots "occupy" Italy, only because the Eastern Roman Empire and the remnants of the Imperial Senate want this With Odoacre "Dux of Italy", he had total military power, but the economical and politcal system was still in the hands of the Roman Senate, that became a sort of Deep State (and probably is the same as today) For sure, some Germanics starts to mix with the local Latin people, but the others left italy some years later, thanks to the Roman Reconquista by Justinian Then, the Longobards arrives, the new Roman army try to fight them, but they were too much, so the Romans had to retreat and consolidate the position on river "Po", that divide Centre Italy and North Italy Over the river Po, the Logobards starts mix with the Latin, while under river Po, the Romans mantain the position and starts to rebuilt a new Italy So, only in the north there is a strong germanic DNA influence, but in Centre and South Italy the DNA is still Roman (R1b)

Not exactly historically accurate but looks awesome
@Will M yeah I know it makes for more sensational gaming but when I was a youngin' we loved getting to play through the historical moments we learned in class and from our pappys and grandpappys Not gonna lie tho theres alternative-history scenarios I'd love to see as games. The original RESISTANCE game comes to mind right there
@_FanZe_ you're like the 10th person to say that to me. I'll have to look into these games now
@Romanian Comrade Try to be very historical with those games and the complete opposite happens
"Not exactly" is "a bit" of an understatement... imagine Normandy landing with spaceships and nazi robots, it would be an equivalent of what this video shows in terms of historical accuracy LMAO
There’s Iron Harvest as well.

I’d rather go to the coliseum and see some guy get eaten by a lion then get bombed or get gawked at for being black (r/wpooosh)
It depends where
they had television you know
This game was actually so good. Story was a bit short, and combat a little repetitive after a while but they set the foundations for what could've been a really good series. Hope they do something with it in the future
Well james if u didn’t fuckin rush the game in one day then maybe the story wouldn’t be so short.
@@robinbanda1723 Haha, wtf? Firstly, what a weirdly hostle response. Secondly, it doesn't matter how long a time period you spread a game over... if it's a short game, it's a short game. That doesn't magically change because you play 10 minutes everyday for a month. Opposed to finishing it in a single afternoon.
@@jamesw9873 james lad if u took time with it , a short story can span anywhere between 8-9 hours. Plenty for a sp linear game.
are people arguing with a 2 year old comment?
James are you still alive
For anyone wondering why this game seems to hold up perfectly against today’s games, graphically. They had no choice. This was a “flagship” game. its main purpose was to show off what the Xbox could handle on day one. If anything this game is proof that today’s devs are just lazy and greedy. I still enjoy this game from time to time. It’s extremely linear, but it doesn’t try to hide it. Knows what it is, and does it well.
There a saying that this game was ahead of its time.
Similar to killzone shadow fall. It was a launch exclusive for the ps4 deisgned to show how much balls the ps4 had and yeah that it showed since the game holds up well graphically even today
Centurion: Julius Pompeius Maximus? Maximus: Yes Centurion how'd you guess that?
Just say that this game was ahead of it's time.
its the cry engine which still is a suitable benchmark for even todays computers because of how terribly optimized it was for computers at the time.

He will be giving the speech in the water and the fish will listen and salute

The way the Romans have an English accent kills me
Does that mean Romans are the ancestors of English?
@@HWDragonborn realistically theyre the ancestors of most of europe. Especially France and Italy.
@@HWDragonborn nah not really, the Romans stayed in Britain for a very short time even though they did make an attempt to romanise the island, it’s hard to really determine which people should bear the accolade of successors of the Romans due to the Germanic migrations that happened during the fall of Rome and after, even the Italians are a bit on the fence ( modern Italians and ancient Romans bear so little similarities it’s mad)

I just want to say that, even though this game is far from any form of historical accuracy, I loved playing it so much. Even the multiplayer (which was super simple).

Fun fact, it was more like 1200. 300 to 400 of them were only Spartans. They were met with many other Greeks. Sparta's war centric society was actually one of it's weakest traits. Any way, Greco-Persian war game would be sick I agree lol
What a wildly underrated launch title... I had always hoped for a larger, fleshed out sequel...
2:10 they even took the inspiration where Tom Hanks got stunned and looking around while his comrades gets BBQ'ed while in the ship. Marvelous.
4:35 Legionaries magically spawn That’s some historical accuracy over there

That’s why the Romans were so powerful haha

italian back then were italian. italian nowadays were lombard, goth, norman, african and others
@@malayafreespirit1905 WTF are you saying? You have ever study history? Italians are still Romans, look at the DNA researchs, 70% of Roman DNA (R1b), in some parts of Italy it arrives at 90%
@@Rvscito dna is not part of history. that is bio stuff. history is story that happen. vandal sack rome. ostrogoth occupy italy. then the mostly greek eastern roman occupy italy, then the lombard occupy italy which to nowadays lombardy is still the name of a region in italy. roman army in late era was made of foederati...german, huns and others then lets not forget the pre empire era. the northern area were home to cisalpine gaul which are celtic people. the southern area were home to greek people. roman true home region is only the central area. but then i understood that they were soon romanised. but still doesnt make them pure roman of rome. so what was the benchmark of the dna? true roman(roman of rome)? romanised roman(italian, greek, celtic, german, syrian, northern african, iberian)? or including every tribe that lived in roman empire under foederati contract?

Game was Amazing when I played it!
One of the most underrated games of the entire Xbox One generation.
It's a good thing you said 'Roman' D-Day, otherwise I'd be concerned with the lack of explosions and Garand pings
Saving Legionary Maximus It's very spot on to the Tom Hanks version when he was looking around. Also it was very spot on when there was a Roman soldier missing his arm
Bring back old memories
Hello my friend, I'm from Xanne Tabz LS, nice to meet you.🙏😊
I’ve finished Ryse like 7 times so far...Ima do it again
Lol there are some silly things with this game. That shield wall thing was kinda cool, I see some potential for some more dynamic tactics with the coordination of the user character and the supporting units with all that. I would like to make the combat more immersive and realistic.
I really love this game they kind of remind me of the Sparta these guys are the greatest warriors I ever seen
Game was great and still has better graphics than games today. Wish it had a longer story.
Story aside, I love this game "PER LA GLORIA DI ROMA"

British celts didnt had strongholds like that, that looks very medieval. Also when when the romans arrived there were no resistance in the beaches of Britain, maybe except during caesar's invasion of Britain. I know it's a fantasy game but details like this it's very difficult to ignore if you are into Roman history
In the game that strong hold was supposed to be controlled by the Roman's when the 14th legions are closing in the the port they are expecting good welcome by friends, so the the Britons really don't have that fort thay have taken it from the Roman's... This is not how it went at all. The Romans landed unopposed in Britain, but faced fierce opposition inland. There was no 'D-Day' style battle on the beaches of Britannia. But for gaming purposes, it looks entertaining!
This entire game is largely a fantasy account, there’s very little in it that’s actually based on anything real
