The highly anticipated rematch between UFC flyweight champion Deiveson Figueiredo and Brandon Moreno goes down on June 12 at UFC 263. Their last fight ended in a majority draw in the main event of UFC 256 last December. It became one of the best fights of the year and Dana White said it was the most exciting fight in flyweight history. Figueiredo and Moreno went the full 25-minute distance in an all-out war.
The Brazilian UFC Flyweight champion Deiveson Figueiredo (20-1-1) is unbeaten over his last six fights. Prior to the draw with Moreno at UFC 256 last year, Figueiredo had defeated Joseph Benavidez twice and Alex Perez to mark a brilliant 2020 for the champion.
#1 flyweight Brandon Moreno (18-5-2) has had two stints in the UFC. His first period was between 2016 and 2018 with a 3-2 win-lose record. He was released following consecutive losses to Pantoja and Sergio Pettis. Moreno then went on to win the LFA title and after rejoining the UFC in 2019, he has beaten Formiga, Brandon Royval and Kai Kara-France. At UFC 256, his title fight against Figueiredo went to a draw, but on June 12 he is getting a second shot at the UFC flyweight gold.
In the main event at UFC 263, The UFC Middleweight Championship is once again on the line when champion Israel Adesanya and Marvin Vettori meet for the second time on June 12 at UFC 263. The pairing previously met at UFC on Fox: Poirier vs. Gaethje, where Adesanya won via split decision. The event will be the second that the promotion has contested in Glendale, following their first fight in April of 2018. This will be Israel Adesanya's third middleweight title defense. At UFC 259 he went up and challenged for the light heavyweight championship against Polish champion Jan Blachowicz, but lost via unanimous decision. Vettori on the other hand is coming off 5 straight victories against Cezar Ferrieira, Andrew Sanchez, Karl Roberson, Jack Hermansson and Kevin Holland.
On this night we will also see Leon Edwards and former UFC Lightweight Championship challenger Nate Diaz (also The Ultimate Fighter 5 lightweight winner)go at it in their welterweight contest. This fight will be a five round fight, marking it the first time in UFC history that a non-title bout other than the main event has been scheduled for five rounds.
