Taxi Map - ibb.co/fqbg7p
There's not a lot of footage of the stunning new A350-900 cockpit and a demonstration of its features. Watch as Lufthansa flight LH424 from Munich descends over north-east U.S.A. into a rainy Boston Logan International, Runway 04R.
The whole movie can be bought from PilotsEye.tv or on amazon searching Boston A350.

    • The checklist should also include fuel control switch, fuel pump, hydraulics etc. But the system can detect whether it is on or off. If it is off the checklist will automatically check that item. Same goes to the B777 or B748 onboard checklist system.

  • One shouldn't leave out of sight that, no matter how professionally pilots usually work in the cockpit, not all of them are used to being filmed during their routine and some are certainly brought a little bit out of concept since they of course have to "act interestingly" and deliver a show to the viewer within the parameters of safety. The captain also tells his F/O towards the end he cannot really recognize the apron markings well due to the many cameras. I always keep that in mind, some pilots are really perceivable in their "stage anxiety". From this standing point, good job, well done, very professional inauguration!

  • Spatial orientation would seem to be a key factor in an approach with weather. In the span of several minutes they're going from full sunlight with excellent visibility to zero-vis on a controlled, vectored approach and finally a good view of the runway lights. Thank God for the professionalism of these skilled pilots who, as in the fine video, treat the entire procedure as just another day 'at the office'. I really appreciate the dedication of trained aircrews.

    • AviationHub. Both pilots on all Boeing Yoke products knows exactly what the other pilot whom is in full control of the flight is literally doing regardless, they were both perfectly synchronized physically of the Yokes movement with each other no matter what and that basically is the beauty of it. On the contrary, Airbus Pilots doesn't have the knowledge whatsoever of what signals or movement input of the sidestick of the actual pilot whom is in full control of the flight is actually doing... they were relatively been completely isolated against each other's sidestick, should one sidestick was to be selected to take full control of the Plane, apparently could not be both synchronized so the other useles isolated pilot will be rendered a Sitting Duck ,and that is the downfall of it and it's a complete mess.

    • @@brettdemauna9994 No because Airbus side sticks use a priority system. Either captain can take control using their priority button. They also get "priority left" or "priority right" calls depending on which pilot has priority. It's not a downfall, it just means an Airbus crew has to work together with CRM more closely making sure someone is always flying the aircraft. • A Human - You think you are correct because you heard the Airbus has more automated systems. However, within the context of discussing the landing distance we are discussing the ILS system so your statement is incorrect. Boeing and probably all commercial planes now have that system. You will notice that they switched off autopilot because they could see the runway. The audible "calculating" landing distance is on the Boeing planes as well.

      @kevinh3979@kevinh39795 жыл бұрын
    • You made a statement that "Airbus' FBW (Fly-By-Wire) system is more in control rather than Boeing". The GPWS (Ground Proximity Warning System) callouts are on all of these commercial jetliners. Same for the ILS system. So what are you talking about? You don't know do you?

  • To clarify the BTV taxiway system. They programmed the system to leave at taxiway Romeo. They did leave Romeo at 15 kts. The miscommunication was Tower suddenly asking them to make a left turn immediately. Hence the “we missed that one, we have to take Romeo”. So the BTV system worked perfectly. Boston tower didn't know (maybe they should have been told in advance?) - hence the miscommunication.

    @AviationHubOfficial@AviationHubOfficial5 жыл бұрын
    • But Boston tower doesn't know what taxiway BTV is set to. Unless that communication is made, they will instruct aircraft to vacate when taxi speed is expected.

      @tfiset11@tfiset115 жыл бұрын
    • Given the wet runway and heavy aircraft, R was completely reasonable, but yeah I think they should have told tower their plans.

      @AviationHubOfficial@AviationHubOfficial5 жыл бұрын
    • Completely understood. I was just emphasizing the importance of communication from both ATC and pilot. ATC will try and free up the runway as soon as they can to make room for the next arrival -- or even more likely after a heavy arrival -- a departure on the same runway with an arrival close behind. Not that this was the case in the video, but it is a common scenario.

      @tfiset11@tfiset115 жыл бұрын
    • Yeah absolutely. I'm surprised tower didn't instruct them where to vacate during the landing clearance, it's sometimes done like that. Or atleast at touchdown. Maybe they were just too busy not to mention the weather causing extra hassle.

      @AviationHubOfficial@AviationHubOfficial5 жыл бұрын
    • AviationHub It’s rare that tower instructs pilots where to exit the runway as we never know exactly where that will be depending on braking, touchdown point, runway contamination, wind, weight, etc etc. We are told to land and hold short of crossing runways sometimes which we can say we’re “unable” to do.

  • Fantastic movie! Fantastic pilots. I remember in 1989 I came back from seing the Berlin Wall falling in november on an Air France flight. The captains welcomed me and my friend in the cockpit of the new A320 during landing. We were just 18 years old. Harnessed in our seats just behind them. I was so surprised to see they landed the plane from a crosswind leg at CDG as if they were driving a car in a parking slot. Here it is the same feeling when we see this crew spoting the runway less then 30 seconds before touching and everything seems so easy. European pilots deserve such good planes.

  • Amazing video. These pilots are such great guys. So intelligent, great teamwork, awesome skills, and love their personalities too. It's a tough job, but they make it look easy. Computers and technology does help tremendously compared to old airplanes 50-60 years ago, but still, even today, the pilots do have to rely on their own brains and make sure all of the math is right when it comes to landing, including weather conditions, other air traffic around them, and planes on the active runway. They are responsible for a plane that costs hundreds of millions of dollars, plus their own lives and those of hundreds of passengers. I have so much love and respect for commercial pilots. Also, the air traffic controllers are also great people, who are often not appreciated enough for all their hard work. It's a tough job.

    • MThef You are in such a great place, trust me. If aviation is truly your passion and you really do get ‘that feeling’ like you say - then you’ve got the world ahead of you man. Better be too young than be too old! Start preparing now! If you *really* want it, you will find a way to be an airline pilot when your older. I never committed to becoming a pilot until I was 25. I’m getting there slowly but I’m still looking a few years ahead. I spoke to the captain when I last went on holiday and he never started aviation seriously until he was 25 also. So you can do this. Get studying, keep learning. Play flight sim seriously! And I wish you all the luck in the world 👍🏽 ✈️
