  • What a awesome video and hunting story , nothing better than sharing times like this with family especially a brother that you learned how to hunt with , as for me and my brother we've killed plenty of record book Roosevelt Bull Elk that made the record books. Even when we couldn't get along with each other we always put that away as to enjoy elk hunting like our great father showed us , its the best American Sport there is without a doubt , God Bless and excellent video and story.

  • I shot my best Buck ever with the very same shot in the exact same place. My arrow was covered in red and laying flat on the ground. I looked for it but didn’t get any help, and after losing blood I lost the deer. This story gave me some peace of mind. Mine was about a 170” ten point. I’ve since killed other deer, but that one sticks in my mind. I’m glad you found yours. Congratulations.

    • Yeah I've gotten a couple smaller does with mechanicals but I'll never shoot them again. You can run across a street 99 times without looking,..eventually your gonna get hit. Same with mechanicals broadheads, that one time a monster buck decides to go behind some thicker brush as you shoot and then it hits his shoulder bone! That deer is gone! Good old sharp 2 blade broadheads are the real deal.

  • There’s a deer farm in Alabama that grows some of the freakiest deer you’ve ever seen. Once a year they will raffle off a hunt there and it’s posted all over FaceBook. 1,2 and 3 year old bucks weighing over 250 lbs and all of them have most likely over 250 count. All atypical bucks but man are they huge! I would venture to guess half of them might be over 300. I couldn’t hunt in a farm house like that. I wonder if they even let them score them for records as they are fed the best feed and greens you could imagine and it is a farm. Be like hand feeding them potato chips and then slipping a shaft between their ribs. Don’t even need a gun or bow. But missing one that was wild and got that big from being a smart deer, that’s gotta be tough!. Sounds like ole toothless one was mad too! LOL.

    • Thats funny you mention that. Were from oregon and we hunt elk. Were really really good friends with the game warden there. And we were having dinner one night watching a video on the biggest bucks ever. And this buck came up and he said they are liars, he told us you can spot a liar very easy, especially with a hunting story. To give background he had been the game warden for 27 years at that time. Maybe the story is legit. But more likely than not I believe the buck died of natural causes or a predator and they stumbled onto it after season, and some quick thinking resulted in “theres the buck i shot at a couple days ago”. If im wrong then congratulations on a buck of a lifetime, if im right then those men will breathe their last breath thinking about that lie

  • I had to pause it at 5:14 to say this: I hate that you have a bad opinion of mechanical broadheads, But I too had the Exact thing happen! The first pope & young buck I shot, I made a great shot on at almost 55yds in the woods. I saw him turn & dig in to run with my arrow hanging out & the shot looked perfect! Well, Once my buddy came & we started to look, after about 25yds of blood trail, we found my arrow, coated in blood with ZERO BLADES OPEN!!! It too was a 3 Blade, & I’m not scared to say the brand. It was a Spitfire… Anyhow, I made a great shot, but this buck seemed to make it over 300yds maybe more, When he shouldn’t have made it 50! So I too had a sour taste in my mouth about mechanicals, But several years later a buddy talked me into trying a 2 blade RAGE, and let me tell you what: I will NEVER, EVER EVEN CONSIDER ANOTHER BROADHEAD AGAIN!!! I have seen Deer Gut shot, in the hind quarters (Not the main artery) and STILL Bleed out in NO TIME! Please, give a 2 Blade Rage the chance, & you will be Blown Away at the hole they leave and Amazed by the Blood Trail you will have. I have shot game & been able to see the Blood Trail for as far as I was able to see the ground FROM MY STAND!!!! Anyhow, I’m going back to the video, I just Had to say that… Thanks,

    • GAOutdoors21 Wow! They ought to be ashamed of themselves. I would not sleep well at night if I did that to someone. Just an FYI. Mechanical broadheads are not reliable on big bucks. 8 of us just got back from Kansas on Friday. 7 of us shot big bucks. 3 of the guys never recovered there buck. 4 of us found our buck in under 100 yds. The three who never recovered their buck used mechanicals. Us 4 who recovered their bucks used fixed broadheads. Mechanicals are for untuned bows.

    • Hlubkoj1011 mechanicals are far superior to fixed blades. That wasn’t always the case, but in the last 15 years or so they’ve excelled beyond fixed heads. You have to get rear deploying mechanicals. That, matched up with heavy front of center, thin diameter arrows and small, low profile fletchings. With that, you have a winning combination.

      @bifurcat3dduplicatus96@bifurcat3dduplicatus966 жыл бұрын
    • How do you "know" you hit the lung? Until gutted and an " autopsy" can be performed you clearly didnt hit the lungs. Properly placed shots within ethical limits of your equipment kills deer regardless of broadhead.

"moving so slow" meanwhile if he was moving that slow how long were you crying with your head in your hands that he got all the way to your tree. Then he gets a "good shot opportunity" and muffs it...hit him back..(fine we have all done that too.) BUT rather than back right out he knows he killed it...but they proceed to jump it out of 4 beds! WOW. they have to wait days for the meat to spoil and be eaten by coyotes and crows before they can claim the rack. This is sickening and I pride myself on doing pretty much the exact opposite of every single thing this guy did!

  • Pretty arrogant to wish the deer had scored A little higher. Who shoots A great buck like that and would be disappointed it wasn't bigger. With all the deer behind them I'd think they would know how to score A typical rack by now. I'd have A smile from ear to ear if I got A buck like that every time I saw the mount.

  • I can’t believe that huge buck sat out there for days that’s one of the saddest stories I’ve ever heard you never did end up saying how far the buck was from where you shot it that’s so sad to hear that the coyotes ate the buck that huge majestic animal ends up being scrap food for crows and coyotes and then mounted on a wall like it’s an accomplishment!

  • I have seen deer at both residents I have lived the last 45 years. I saw many at the rural place both does & bucks. Never shot one. However I have also seen does with fawns crazing in my present city residential yard. I one time saw two does with fawns in my yard. One fawn very small. I now live within the city limits but a long nature trail and creek are nearby. I hated to cut my grass but there is aggressive city code enforcement. I have many guns but I would never shoot those deer. I had rather enjoy watching them. Shooting them in city limits might get a person in hot water with the law as well. I care nothing about trophy animals. I do understand hunting for food. The coyotes getting this deer was an awful waste.

    • Ok sure, but if you're a "real hunter" you shouldn't just shoot the first thing that walks out. Now don't get me wrong, I have no problem with somebody killing the occasional spike or doe for the meat, but if you do have the opportunity to harvest mature animals, you should definitely try to.

    • Actually, from a biological perspective, hunters could just leave the deer afield and it wouldn't be wasted. There is no waste in Nature, unlike in modern diets and associated trash and unknown energy costs (packaging, transportation, etc. ad infinitum). I'm not recommending this, however. Getting too far from meat results in alienation and hunting only for killing.
