It's a Lotus and it's electric - 600hp, 4.5secs to 62mph - but is it the Lotus Vicki's been waiting for?

Good to see you are back
Great review Vicki and looking gorgeous :)
chris harris was right on the money. people just want suv's and not sports cars. porsche make most of their money on suv's. ferrari had to do the same to stay in business. sad times. anyone trying london traffic - 50hp is enough & thats if you can get to 40mph ever in the horrible traffic. still love lotus. the elise for me always.
The simple truth is the majority of people with that kind of money also have bad backs... ;) Also, with the new adaptive technologies, there are quite a few 'large' performance SUVs that can actually keep up with many a sedan and coupe on a challenging road. At least at speeds that are not completely outrageous. As many people claim they need that kind of speed, it's just talk for many. So why not have the 'safety' (size), comfort and space along with the performance?
@@24k__J Tell me you have nearly no intelligence and experience without telling me… 🤔
Thanks Vicki!
Great review Vicki!
Very decent towing, looking forward to see it pulling caravans in the summer 🙂
Totally agree with Vicky about those mirrors. I like the fact that with real door mirrors I can move my head around to slightly alter the view in the mirror whereas that is impossible with the camera, although I daresay there is a wider angle of view with the camera than a flat mirror....
There is. Takes some time to get used to and 'trust', but once you do, it's almost hard to get into a car with normal mirrors! LOL...
Love the rag ''ouch''
Lot of folk saying it doesn't live up to the hype 🙁
Get your leathers on VBH and take the lovely yellow Monster out instead 💛
A 5 passenger long range electric CUV doesn't handle like a sports car with a 1.8L four pot? Who wudda thunk.
Maam u got a very lovely voice OMG i love it
A suggestion when testing an EV, discuss the efficiency of said vehicle relative to other EV’s. I appreciate EV’s and re-gen braking are not for everyone, although having moved from a Range Rover to a Tesla, I love it. Single pedal driving is superb and all you need is deft and delicate use of the go fast/ ‘used to be loud’ pedal.
Love vics honesty, l looks okay, just needs a ice engine 😱🤣
Saw one of these on a back road the other week and had to look twice to realise it was a Lotus as it looks like most other suvs. Didn't grab my eye as much as the lotus exige that was further ahead of it
I got an advert for the new Nissan Juke before this video. It didn't make me want one, but bless them for trying! If there's anyone on KZhead who can put a Lotus through its paces, it's Vicki! Are the wing cameras standard, or an option? They look good, but reviews of any car with them tend to be unfavourable.
They could have taken a cue from my Honda Civic and used a single, small camera that can cover pretty much 90 degrees out to the side and behind. I hardly ever shoulder check to my passenger side anymore, or have to even check the mirror at all! And the display is center console, so you can see it out of your peripheral vision without really turning your head...
Great film - enjoyed the editing. Have actually seen one in the wild and had to do a double take. Mainly as it was so long and odd. Seems another car maker who have designed by committee and chasing SUV sales rather than making exciting cars that kids will want a poster up on a wall to appreciate and imagine owning and driving when they're older!
My hybrid Renault Austral has paddles to increase or decrease regenerative braking as do the other Renault hybrids.
is there an option to have a petrol engine? Love the wing mirrors.
This thing is so full of tech, and yet it looks like it drives like a Lotus. As long as the batteries, and electronics are from a reputable vendor, this should be a hit.
@@24k__J I will probably be gone to the next lifetime, by the time I come back since I am older than you think. The fact is that cars are getting heavier. People want tech. I own a S213 E63, and a Kona N. Look at the sales on small, tech less light cars, then look at SUV's. Get the picture. Also notice that I said "it looks like it drives like a Lotus".
The desire to over tech the car with the side rear view cameras is odd. Yet they retain the physical mirrors. I can understand in a supercar where the center rear view mirror doesn't work, but not for this car.
😊
All these cars using squared off steering wheels. Is it so they appeal to the shorter clientele?
I was waiting for your review rather than normal male ego bull. I confess I am a Lotus fan. Had Porsche, Jags and others but my Elise is the only one I love and will keep. Living not far from Norfolk I don’t want a car that doesn’t fit on a B road. However I hope it sells, so we keep a few jobs here. Thanks VBH, I would love to love this car too - I agree with you, it’s frustrating. You are the best!
V-H-B you skirted around the distance this car can go on a full charge. Whilst you quoted the claimed 370 miles. Others on KZhead etc say there is a distance issue, that they are only getting 180+ miles per charge?...what will depreciation be like like?
Lotus seems to be like another well previously respected brand bought by a Chinese company to badge their tat with.
I wonder if the Eletra can be ordered with wing mirrors?
The camera mirrors are actually an option at £1,999 in the UK. Easiest option box not to tick
@@Foucault2001 Phew! It will be good for the brand if this car can help Lotus pay their way.
I'm 54, owned 3 Lotus (currently an S1 160), and it took VBH to make me realise the significance of the letter 'E' !! What a muppet.
That makes me happy! Every day's a school day. Thank you for watching!
And yes it's not cheap
& it'll depreciate faster than any other car on the market....These cars will be worthless in 7-10 years also.
A review of a new Lotus, and no mention of weight Vs it's main rivals,?
Brilliant video. Amazing car.
😅😅😅
& when you "Do" do that, Ha ha 💜 it...
This feels like a rebadge of something... Without seeing the badge, I couldn't in my wildest guess, believe that it was a Lotus. I would LOVE to see more Vicki videos. :)
It's a bespoke Lotus styled body & interior sat on the heavily revised platform & body frame of a Zeekr 001...
Tell camera operator to bump exposure at least .5ev
How is it possible that she had this car already 20 years ago? Or did she find the secret of not getting older?
Excellent review except........ Surely trying to compare this Lotus against one of their "g-string" sports cars for involvement and feel is a bit of a dud comparison. What about how it compares to other electric SUVs or even some ICE SUVs for said involvement and excitement.
Yokes, Octagons, Ovals? No, if it ain't broke..
The latest generation of Lotus cars look fabulous.
They should have called it the Lotus Elephant for obvious reasons.
The Lotus Elephentra.
I Hate what the Whole Motor Industry and Government's are doing with EV`s...... TOTALY wrong way of going about it...... But I Totally Adore VBH...... So I would watch her watching paint dry....... Bless you Young Lady.... Please post more often...... :-)) xxxxx
Lovely 😍 & the Lotus is not bad either 😉
What an abomination. Makes me sick to see the mighty Lotus falling so low..Colin Chapman is spinning in his grave..😢
Colin Chapman would love this car & everything it stands for....! 👌💰💰💰👍
@@_Ben4810 you need to read more history my fried, lol
Colin would have realised as all good car designers and engineers, that the market has moved on and that Lotus has to do the same or die along with its aging ownership.
It’s a Chinese forklift with leather and a British badge stuck on. Expect to see 60% depreciation in a year or two. That’s more than the annual net income of a family with two working parents. But hey, it’s on finance or subsidised by the taxpayer through company car schemes and tax deductions, so who cares?!
Oooft, a review for those out of touch and due for retirement, if not already retired. It's 2024 and the world is changing, get with the times rather than flighting the future.
range? probably not great.....
I guess max 200 in the winter.
My hefty left foot consumes quite a lot!
I got 250 mid winter and now hitting 290 in April, with an S version.
Oh dear… Lotus have been suckered up with the EV hype and worse, then overload on cheap chinese RadioShack tech thinking it’s a substitute for class, composure and competitive performance. Saw one of these in car park and seriously, it just doesn’t hang together aesthetically; cover the badge and it could be a SSangyong 😩
Thanks for your comments - I've yet to see another one on the road or in a car park. And thanks so much for watching - I really appreciate it.
Vicky is like a bottle of good wine ... Every year better ...

The Lotus Eletre is a beautiful looking SUV but U R More Beautiful Vicki
What a simp 😂
Stalker!!
@@scotthowes6560 what R U on about I'm not like that Vicki is very beautiful
@@alanbaker2347 well done write it on KZhead.. you sound like a weirdo and a creep! I'm sure Vicki thinks the same..
Lotus: "Adding lightness and simplicity". Huh?
If it can tow it’s not a Lotus.
Any car can tow if you attach a hook to it!
Lotus has sold its soul to the devil in exchange for a weird looking rangerover thing, sad times.
Well, they COULD eventually go bankrupt, if you'd rather...
@@troyjollimore4100 Point taken, from a business point of view this is a good move for Lotus. It's just a massive change for the brand.
@@djefferson02 The really funny thing is, they’re at the point now where these big SUVs can’t actually reach their limits safely with an ‘average’ driver on twisty roads. They can keep up with many sports sedans… 😳
Another massively overhyped, short range EV flop, it's a very pretty diposable paperweight.
we can drive ours every other weekend from Devon to our 2nd house in the Lake District without the need to charge, so not sure why you think it has a short range….
Another soulless EV being pushed
Nice car but seriously, Lotus? You can do better. Hardly a physical button to be seen (difficult to see the steering wheel). But in essence, like almost all modern cars, it's just the screen to poke about on (and probably missing your target menu/icon when going over rough roads) all whilst not looking at the road in front of you. How has this become so acceptable from a safety perspective (across all manufacturers)? You can't even pick up your phone (which I agree with) but you are allowed to interact with the car screen - how is that different? How can anyone say these screens are safe when you have to look for a few seconds to locate and follow through menus to activate what you want? I just don't get it. Tech for tech sake. Buttons and muscle memory are far safer.
They were probably too deep in the design/production phase by the time other carmakers started coming to this realization and started moving back towards some 'hard' controls for the driver.
Real men don’t drive electric vehicles
Modern car reviews are just infomercials EVs are a complete money trap. This thing has already been exposed as never reaching it's range, people are getting half the range at under 200 miles per charge under daily driving conditions.
Oh look another sv that looks the same as everything else 😂
another anomaly of a car....the founder's soul sold for a penny. greedy shame
Love your videos but can't stand any Chinese Communist Car.
And i can't stand and american regime cars as well
Looks like any other EV suv from China. Nothing interesting or Lotus like in any way. And it has appalling range.
SUV, EV... SUV stands for road delusion, EV's for emotionless, no reason to watch further, bye 😅. Make a statement petrolheads: Stop buying EV's.
I think SOMEONE is 'deluded' here...
Next a lotus HGV?
