Not gonna lie I like that: Makes me think if there is ever a proper remake even if it's fan made we'd already know what works and what doesn't plus we have a sense of the world the 2nd time around so whatever is missed will need less explaining this time around its clear allot of thought went into combat mechanics what is magic and what is not so it just needs polish on character development and story direction and then it would be masterful we can get use to the rough animations that won't stop people from watching it if they are already invested

Because being good at planning and making action scenes isn't the same as being good at writing or character development or knowing what the difference between actual cool names and what edgelords *think* are cool names is. That's why his name is spelled with a "Q".
What I love the most is how light hearted your other videos in this series are (usually just poking fun at little things here and there about a series). With RWBY, you just took a bat and started swinging until it couldn't move anymore. Either way, I couldn't stop laughing.
Considering RWBY is little more than the reanimated corpse of Monty doing 3D animation tests for season 10 RVB....yeah! I think the problem is related to the Faunus. Like Blake probably just had her whole fucking world upended by that info, because now she knows that Ozpin can just..do that. So then do Faunus even have a reason to exist if a wizard can just give Humans the traits Faunus had over them? Then she learned about Humans literally being their Gods' creation, and Faunus only coming around *after* they fucked off. Ignoring the poorly executed racism issue, that has gotta be soul-crushing for someone with a past like Blake's.

Honestly, that would be a neat 'evil' side-effect of Qrow being able to become a bird. Birds have hollow bones, so they are light enough to fly, but this also means they are somewhat fragile. What is Qrow's bone are permanently hollow, and he is in constant pain whenever he isn't a bird because his bones can barely support the weight of his human body?

With Dust, some people will say the reason it was dropped was because the White Fang only needed it for their bomb, and once they made their bomb, they didn't need it any more. But Dust is clearly shown to be a consumable resource that many of the main character's weapons rely on, and we've never heard of them running low on Dust, or having to scavenge for or buy more Dust, even when Team RNJR was walking across Patch. And it's not like they're lugging around massive quantities of the stuff either. Are we supposed to assume that they conveniently came across Dust stores periodically off screen? Sure, the "arc about the White Fang hoarding Dust" was completed, but the implications around Dust were almost completely dropped from the story.
The reason the girls' weapons don't run out of Dust is because of Weiss lmao she got the stocks

@iiYonko I love Naruto just as much as the next weeb who got their start in the mid-2000s, but to say it handled its characters better than RWBY is now is just throwing stones in a glass house. Naruto DID NOT do a better job of character building. If they weren't originally introduced as a villian of the week then just about anything we learned about side characters came from anime filler (ie a lovely canonical grey area that you can't use for actual character building) or light novels (which, let's be honest, western fans typically don't read). Most of the Leaf Village 12 were entirely defined by their fighting style. Only about half of the akatsuki received a decent amount of backstory. Just about anyone introduced from outisde the leaf village who didn't have a tailed beast was largely glossed over. Most people who DID have a tailed beasts were too for that matter. Don't get me wrong. Naruto did do a good job developing SOME characters, but even that's only if you look past all of the retconing and lack of direction across the series. And as for the arcs completely dedicated to explaining backstories, well that's just bad story telling. And that's all ignoring what happened to every goddamn character (female characters in particular) in Boruto.... >,>

They ruined her by making her this hellbent on revenge murder-bitch who in vol 9 kept that up only to turn out to just "want what they have" after that rwby vs cheshire cat fight. I actually figured there was no way they could have done such a thing to a character who has zero dialogue but at least that was presumably the end of the story for her.
the whole blake and yang not talking their way into a relationship hits so much harder with this current season thats out. this show has gone to the pits with its writing
Absolutely nobody had any clue whether Blake and Yang were actually hooking up or were “roommates/besties” for three whole volumes, and then they have to have the writing break the fourth wall just to confirm that they haven’t been up to this point, but now are. Holy shit, this series needed a second draft, probably a third too
No argument there. And that confession of love! With essentially a gun to their heads.... Kinda sums up the hold handling of the BB ship.

@@colili V6 had a bunch of character moments for Yang’s PTSD arc and Blake’s Adam arc, both of which were dealing with the same antagonist and history which would have been seen as an invaluable setup to form a romantic relationship by most writers, but they only had Blake and Yang talk about it at the very start, and then close on the final fight with Adam, during which they seem really close but ends on a hug and handholding rather than a big declaration of love or god forbid a kiss. So going into V7 everyone had already been arguing over whether it was supposed to be the start of something romantic or whether they were just really close knit because of their similar history with Adam and trauma. The only other big romantic thing to happen between them then is the haircut and blushing at Atlus, which again could have been the start of something, but if it was the start then it would be confirmed that they haven’t already gotten together so shippers didn’t much like the idea that they were still waiting on the ship to be canon. Two whole volumes of basically hiatus and then in V9 the Deus Ex Machina that is the Punderstorm literally rips the two away from the main plot, is stated to be handling their most important issue (which is romance for some reason and not getting home or the terrible tragedy of an entire Kingdom being destroyed at their hands) and then seemingly confirms a third time that they haven’t been dating and are now starting a romantic relationship. Rather than the two opening a dialogue with one another about their feelings during all the time they had to at Atlus, rather than a desperate confession in a moment of peril like with the Adam fight or the Fall of Atlus, they had to go to another dimension that then kidnaps them and forces them to kiss lest they not be allowed to leave. The writers contrived the entirety of the storm as a plot device to make a Bumblebee moment rather than just have them go out for coffee at Argus, or run into eachother one night at Atlus Academy. Of all the ways they could have interacted organically and of their own volition, they instead chose to have the natural phenomena of an alternate dimension hold them at gunpoint to rush to a conclusion they have barely built up to.

1:45 Fun fact: The Animators behind the entirety of RWBY outside of Monty Oum's fighting animations, were from Miles and Kerry themselves... Which explains why it was so trashy. It was also shown on the Storyboards that Miles and Kerry only wrote the major scripts that involved much of the Longwinded Talking... While Monty Oum's position on the storyboard was simply [Monty's animation goes here]... It also means that the Majority of Pyrrha's "Death Flags" were written by Miles and Kerry, rather than by Monty Oum. Much of Monty's work was channelled into his General Notes on how the World of Remnant was supposed to work, His animating of The Fight Scenes and the Bigger Script further down the line, that he was not able to complete. From what I understand, Monty was a Kinetic animator, telling stories with as little Words as Possible. (Show, Don't Tell), a Notable Contrast to Miles and Kerry's Jibber Jabber Writing that was more "Tell, Don't Show".

@@rukardio9491 Long story short, he essentially called Rooster Teeth out on how they were making RWBY into a trainwreck that just keeps going deeper into the ground. He also singled out a couple of particularly problematic employees in his letter as well. Rooster Teeth being the perfect embodiment of reason, proceeded to blow the whole thing out of proportion by essentially siccing their fans on the guy (literal death threats and attempts on the guy's life and his family were a real thing), and then Miles proceeded to mistreat/bully anyone in the company who dared even think of siding with Shane. It was literally the clusterfuck of the century, and trust me when I say it did a lot more damage to Rooster Teeth's reputation anyone realized at the time. I does NOT help that Shane was the 2nd most experienced animator in the company, and the only one who had a clear idea of what RWBY was supposed to be - Monty excluded. That's also when people started getting a closer eye in what was going on inside Rooster Teeth, and that's when the stories of constant cheating (wonder why Goodwitch never appeared again? Because her voice actress was caught having sex with Burnie - the boss who is married), pedophilia (Ryan Haywood for instance), constantly sexual harassment (phallic drawings everywhere), and so much more. There's a reason the company is literally dying, and AT&T is desperately trying to get rid of it. RWBY is the only thing that keeping everything afloat, and it's barely doing that. Look at their KZhead channel. 9 million subs, less that 100k views per video. Anyway, hope it helps!!

Especially when they sell characters down the river and commit character assassination to 'drive the plot', when those characters all happen to be dutiful male characters who are defending the world. Like Ozpin and Ironwood. Both of them destroyed as people and characters due to RWBY team's outrage over shit they're too naive and childish to understand. Ozpin hides and becomes useless after RWBY attacks him for his four thousand years of protecting the world from total destruction against his only family. Ironwood, the military general, is willing to sacrifice a handful of soldiers to protect the world (literally the fucking job description) and after getting chewed out by RWBY becomes an actual villain somehow. Qrow just melts away upon learning that Ozpin can't just auto-kill the main enemy but has been keeping her at bay for FOUR THOUSAND FUCKING YEARS REGARDLESS. Every useful male character in RWBY becomes useless, a liability, or evil so that the teenage girls who never finished school and know nothing about real life can show them up. Also, Qrow's VA got falsely accused of sexual harassment by some woman who makes a living off of that and now basically has his position in Rooster Teeth afterwards, magically, after he was kicked out despite being proven innocent.

The truth is that the series was never supposed to be that complicated, because Monty Oum just wanted to create cool fight sequences with only enough plot to move a narrative along. It was simple and never meant for deep exploration. After he died, Rooster Teeth decided to turn it into a overly dramatic mess, trying to deep dive into the massive cast of one dimensional side characters that were never meant to be explored and creating lore to awkwardly shoehorn into the world. The result? Volumes 1-3, written by Oum before he died, have a completely different feel to the ones that followed, almost incompatible even. Rooster Teeth would have been better off rebooting and remaking the series from scratch so that it would have consistency. Instead we have a mess that feels like two different series, one with no beginning and one with no end, were glued together. It would be the rough equivalent of taking the first season of G1 Transformers and then gluing Transformers Prime season 2 and beyond to it and calling it a single series. The main characters are all there, but they're totally different people and you have no clue why they did this.
To befair, Jen Taylor the voice actress for Salem was given Salems backstory already before the 1st episode was released. So this plot was always planned.
@@armzngunz It would make sense to define the villain of the series early on. However, having background notes for that one character does not equate to an entire plot being planned. If it had been planned the transition between Pre Monty and Post Monty would not have been so awkward and jarring, there would not have been plot threads abruptly cut, and there would not have been so many characters awkwardly changed. It's clear there was no planning beyond season 3 because that's as far as Monty got on the writing before he died. Maybe there some notes lying around like details on Salem, but that was it.
@@marrier9999 In this instance it was not really about notes, I just watched an interview of her VA, who says she was told this backstory of the character so long ago and was excited for it to be told. I agree thet turning point at the end of season 3 was abrupt, but I think for the whole overarching story, Oum's death is given too much credit for the tone shift, because as far as I know, he did not write everything himself and it really seems like the show would've become a Lotr-esque show of "defeat the evil lord and save the world" even if Oum didn't die. Like, I've even heard Oum himself also planned for Pyrrha's death etc.
RWBY is an example of how good ideas don't make a story good by default. A lot of the lore ideas, character designs, and various spectacles of the show are actually pretty neat. It's just not backed up by any substance to make us care. So what you get is a show basically made of cotton candy. "Oooo- and now it's gone." "Aaah- and that's gone too."

Triangles that double as shurikens 3. A cello war axe which is extremely heavy but the better one plays it the lighter it gets. My other OC has a fiddle which shoots lasers from the strings and is made of pure gold.

@@death-t-mistress Neo is a character from Vol 2 of the show, whose main draw is being a cute mute (not by design, they just didn't have time to get a VA for her during her initial appearance), and was presumed dead as of Vol 3. In Volume 6, Neo comes back & fights Cinder, one of the show's main antagonists, because she _correctly_ assumes that Cinder's attack on Beacon in Vol 3 (the school blowing up) is the very reason why Roman Torchwick - Neo's boss - is dead. But Cinder is able to convince Neo that Ruby is responsible for his death. So, she follows her & does errands for Cinder in the hopes that she'll get a chance to avenge Torchwick when they eventually confront Team RWBY. Eventually, she realizes that Cinder is just using her for entirely her own ends, and tries to leave with one of the show's three maguffins. But then Cinder just... apologizes & Neo gives it back to her & rejoins her side. In Vol 8, in the last chapter of the season, Neo is literally hanging on for dear life & asks Cinder for help, only for Cinder to take the maguffin & betray her by knocking her hand off the edge she was holding onto. And now, Neo is with Team RWBY because she fell into the void with the rest of them & they all isekai'd into a new dimension.
Neo was added at Monty's own request, which like most things that Monty added, was done so on a whim during development for no reason other than that he thought it was cool. Character? What's that? Does it have anything to do with looking cool during fights? No? Don't care.

RT was probably thinking they could pull in a new wave of DC fans to reinvigorate the fan base. It's a shame that so much time, money, modeling, etc. was wasted on the two crossovers no one wanted when that all could have gone into season 10.
You missed the fact that the writer's self insert OC whom he voices is constantly thirsted after by the various girls in this show that he has said in various interviews are "everything you could want in a perfect woman" and are all also 15 years old.

They ruined Neo by making her stupid enough to trust Cinder even after she screwed her over, she literally says “I’m sorry” and it works. There also insane levels of protagonist centered morality: Adam slaps Blake at one point to show how evil he is (which is entirely understandable), Blake later slaps Sun (several times) and we’re meant to find it “funny”.
Cinder nearly kills Watts and uses Neo. Neo and Watts have no reason to trust or follow Cinder They do it anyway, which is bad enough then Cinder (by her standing) gets them both killed And what's worse is that Cinder's "lesson" was that she can't do everything herself, (which was not the issue cause she fights alongside people in volume 5) but then here she turns on the people who help her just an all around terrible set of events that jerks around some of the few characters that were actually good, to give this shitty character a win

Problem is, the writers that remain are actualyl better than they let on, they just knew that they didn't have to bring anywhere near their A game. They know their audience VERY well, and they know that their audience would clap them on the back and tell them "job well done". At least until season 5. Then they had to be better, but only until they won the crowd back, then they went right back to the bullshit. Violating Orson Scott Card's Contract With The Reader didn't help matters. Shamelessly stealing concepts whole-cloth from other sources didn't help, either.

Lots of good writing and character development was sacrificed for this and now Blake and Yang don't have a separate nor unique character to either of them anymore. They're just "the couple" now. May as well just be in the background at this point.
It's kind of hilarious how they went from killing a guy to acting like anime high schoolers first loves (acting lovey dovey but never confessing). I could be misremembering as I haven't really watched though the volumes properly since they each first released, but I think they only talk about killing Adam once and they were both rather dismissive of it. I think if I had just killed a person for the first time, even if they were someone who'd hurt me terribly, with a friend. My thoughts wouldn't be to start swooning over the friend I killed a guy with.

Personally I've always headcanoned that Yang could potentially be bisexual (just based on the vibe I got from her personality). So I feel like there could be an argument for Yang at least thinking that Blake was cute in their student days, though it's a bit of a stretch. But definitely no romantic feelings at all before that fight on either side. That's why I find it so funny that the creators have been acting like it's this grand thing that's been built up from day one, when it really hasn't. I mean Blake literally kissed Sun when he left and then for some Blake and Yang were all over each other after getting to Atlas. I never knew killing a guy together would suddenly make you besotted with the other person.

Great, now I want a RWBY Chibi episode where Raven debuts and tries one of Qrow’s alcoholic drinks. Just so that she can start yelling about her and Qrow being birds. Just imagine the following dialogue being said by Raven in a drunk voice. Raven: “You wanna know who’s evil in this war? Ozpin. It’s all because of him that me and Qrow are cursed to be birds!” Yang: “But...” Raven: “You don’t get it! I can turn into a bird Yang, I CAN TURN INTO A BIRD!!!!!!!!!”

RWBY is that scooby doo sandwich you made when you were a kid, filled with stuff you loved like marshmallow fluff, chicken tenders, bubblegum and sausage. You didn't understand why those ingredients are good on their own, you just knew you liked them and the sandwich ended up being shit.
We're at season 8 and Weiss still hasn't hooked up with Torchwick's ghost. In fact Torchwick has kinda just been forgotten about. R.I.P. Torchwick, one of the only few fun characters. Too bad they keep killing off all the ones with potential.

On the grounds of the fact that she’s so scary we can’t even tell if she’s really a villain or if she’s just a really edgy old lady that does fuck all for hundreds of years except be mildly spooky. The only questionable thing Ozpin did is just not tell his students that there is an unlimited amount of the darkspawn beasts they are fighting and that the leader behind those beasts is an immortal witch and even though the war between Ozpin and Salem has been going on for thousands of years, it will probably never end since Ozpin doesn't know how to beat his wife That's about it, no biggie
