This really does capture how Paul felt in the book. He gains a hightened awareness from the spice and sees all the possibilities springing forth from his present actions and collapsing as he makes a choice. One of the things the new film doesn't quite do justice are the characters' complex inner thoughts. The '80s film had hokey voiceover, but Timmy does a good job of showing his character's inner journey.

No, just no. The 84 film did that and was garbage. Adapt the story to the medium, it’s boring and lame listening to people exposit inner thoughts. “Show don’t tell” is how you do movies and it’s all conveyed very well. I know it’s the iPad generation or whatever but paying attention pays off.

This really does capture how Paul felt in the book. He gains a hightened awareness from the spice and sees all the possibilities springing forth from his present actions and collapsing as he makes a choice. One of the things the new film doesn't quite do justice are the characters' complex inner thoughts. The '80s film had hokey voiceover, but Timmy does a good job of showing his character's inner journey.
