  • I’m a commercial industrial electrician and have owned an Milwaukee m12 bandsaw since it came out in my opinion it’s the best option

  • M12 portaband ftw. The newer fuel one rips through it even faster! And the bigger throat on the compact tool is a great improvement over the previous for metal fabrication use. Mine lives in a medium packout with a big drill, a grinder, m12 die grinders and related accessories.

  • The great thing about the swing is if you need to cut a conduit with existing wires in it 👍🏻 great video

  • Tried cutting a 1.5 inch EMT conduit with a Dewalt miter saw. Thought it would cut through it like butter by using a Freud Diablo blade for metal.. Never again. Blade wouldn't budge and ended up dulling it. Ended up using a hacksaw to finish off the cut.

  • Thanks for the video. I also have the same tools. Yes the M12 bandsaw is great. HVAC and Sheetmetal is my trade. Use it all the time to cut S-Slips and am amazed how clean the cut is. Also cut 1 5/8” unistrut and 3/8” treaded rod. I noticed the difficulty you had removing the M12 battery. You have to squeeze both sides of the battery. DEWALT has Milwaukee beat on that one feature, the DEWALT only take a slight pressure the thumb to remove the battery. I still favor most Milwaukee over DEWALT tools. But does anyone know of an easier way or tool to use removing the Milwaukee battery. I sometimes use the handles of a pliers to do the squeegeeing. I am 73 and don’t have the hand strength I once had. Glad to see a young man has a bit of a struggle also.

    • Honestly, I like using a pipe cutter, it cuts straight and not jagged and won’t skip everywhere.

  • Have you tried the pipe cutter from milwaukee, for plummers and copper pipes?

    @PNWLiving1725@PNWLiving17252 жыл бұрын
    • Yeah, it didn't work very well at all on EMT. I was hoping it would. I think it's really meant for copper pipe only.

  • Oh dang guess I should of watched the whole video the yellow cutter is baddass too guess it depends on how many times you are going to cut a shower rod

  • Question: How would you cut a piece of conduit that already has wires in it? Like when you are replacing an existing panel with a larger panel, so you need to make the conduit shorter?

    • Keep in mind we are an IT services / low voltage cabling company, not electrical.

    • Flap jack get one of those small pipe cutters he got. You just tighten and go around the pipe then rinse and repeat till the pipe cut up around. Doing that carefully should avoid damage to the wire. If the pipes are too close to each other to maneuver. Take off nearest support or coupling to make it move enough to use the little tool. Think it cost 20$ i got a husky one. Its small and compact and should cut to 1 inch. They sell larger ones also.

    • @@osielbasurto5641 Not sure what you mean? The answer about cutting pipe to an electrical panel? If so, we just wanted to clarify that we are a low voltage network IT company, not electrical. We can't give advice about cutting conduit with hot wires in it or anything involving electrical. It looks like his question was answered by another electrician though. If talking about conduit with low-voltage (network cable) already in it, then what @roxas134 said still holds true. Just use a manual pipe cutter and be careful. It would be tedius to cut out a middle section, so if it were near a termination point, I would just pull the cable out, cut the pipe, and then re-terminate.

  • Don’t ever use a tubing cutter on conduit. It will leave a ridge, even if reamed, that the wires will get cut by. No matter the tool being used to cut the conduit it needs to be reamed. And an option not shown was just a typical hacksaw, which leaves the least amount of burr and is just as quick if not quicker than the tools shown here.

  • Try milwaukee metal saw

    @ravindersingh1059@ravindersingh10594 жыл бұрын
  • Bruh get a metal cutting circ saw, Milwaukee makes one. That's default for a quick, clean cut. Full size band saw for gang cutting, and Sawzall for installed pipe in a rack or conduit in fixed positions which have little access to, as an absolute last resort. No need for anything else. Metal cut off tool is an absolute no. Carpenters use abrasive chop saws which are the larger size versions which is loud, sparks, doesn't cut clean.

  • For those who are interested in the hand tool. Keep in mind that it’s scoring the pipe and because of that it will leave a much smaller diameter at the end. So obviously it makes it harder to pull wire through and also it changes when doing box offsets because of the diameter change, and it’s a significant change. There is a small work around which I use in a pinch. Go over it only three times then stick it in a bender and crank it and that will cut it. It will still change the diameter but not that much. Anyway, build muscle on those forearm and use a hacksaw until you could afford a bandsaw. Everything else is only for pinch.

    @BBQPitmaster626@BBQPitmaster6263 жыл бұрын
    • Smaller diameter? Yes, this is true after the initial cut, but the next and final step is to debur the inside edge of the pipe, opening it back up to its original inside diameter. The bur on the inner edge after the initial cut HAS to be removed as it can cut the sheathing on the wire you run thru it.

  • This guy dose not know how to cut with a reciprocating saw

    @joejoe6949@joejoe69493 жыл бұрын
    • I have done it many times lol. The recip we normally use was in one of the other vans so all I had was this one handed Ridgid tool. Even our real recip isn't as good as the band saw or the pipe cutter though.

      @ComputerProMedia@ComputerProMedia3 жыл бұрын
  • That cut off tool will cut all your wire when you pull,So will the copper cut tool. This guy has no clue. If I saw this guy using those tool I well kick him from my job site. Only the reciprocating and band saw should be used.. ream your conduit please.

    @joejoe6949@joejoe69493 жыл бұрын
    • The band saw and the manual pipe cutter are the cleanest for sure. We always ream the pipe afterwards so no worries about cut wire :)

    • You can't use a plumbing tubing cutter for emt. It will role the edge in and no you won't be able to clean the edge it created. Klein makes a cutter that you ring and snap I believe. Please don't share info just cause you have a camera. You're going to get yourself or someone hurt with piss poor information.
