My favorite part is when he saids “Around The World”
Hilarious and original
I was here. Remember my words. [¦ [¦ [¦ *Around the world* ¦] ¦] ¦]
I love what he says AFTER that! 😂
Fun fact the lyrics tell of their explorations around the world
Same but a little better is when he said "around the world"
They are not retired, they just travelled around the world for fun.
No
Lmao make sense XD

The bassline, especially, is iconic in my opinion. Minimalistic and brilliant music!

There's a few things here that can be said. First: It might look completely random, but this is a _tightly_ choreographed interpretive dance. Also, I love how the stage is slowly revealed to be a record and the camera angles play a lot with perspective, making parts of the stage look smaller and larger than they really are, even a shot framed by pillars to give a toy-like view of the dancing. These are really, really skilled dancers who are pulling off really tightly timed moves at times, even if the end result looks chaotic and dreamlike. That's the point of the video-it's absurdist, while being completely sincere in its artistry.
Well said!
Does the video appear to be undercranked to you? It almost looks like it was performed slowly, then sped up to match the tempo of the song
@@bfg9k_ It is. There's a making of video and it's all rehearsed and performed at two thirds the speed.

Daft Punk has, in my opinion, the most impressive music career of all time. 2 young french guys who started making weird noises on poor machines went from losers to the most listened artists on the planet. Creating a new style and a new genre that is going to leave a mark on the music industry forever. All of that while still being able to walk outside freely without anyone being able to recognize them.

Listen to this song with such high quality in every way. it is wonderful.
You know it just hit me. The genius of this song isn't its lyrics, it's its dance choreography. The dancers have 0 audio queue, can't follow the lyrics to know when the next move is, they just have to remember precisely their entire number, down to the timing. Absolute legends.

@@gabe5360 Hi Gabe
It just hit you that a song with one line repeated isn't about the lyrics?
I'm seeing a lot of confusion from people. This music video has been on Warner Music Germany's page for years but they changed the channel name to "Angesagt!" which I think has confused a lot of people into thinking it's some kind of unofficial upload. That upload is still up and has 9 million views so it seems to me that they basically made a carbon copy of that video and put it on this channel which is why it already has 10 million views just a few hours after upload. Edit (4/15/2022): Daft Punk have now replaced the crusty old quality with a remastered version!

@@Maxi-Gonz. I hope this video is here for many years and I will return to tell you 💯
@@ghostd2181 I'll be waiting for the reply. It'll come eventually, _some day…_
You already did by listening this music ;)
Master Piece !!!❤
relistening years later as an adult, it brought an early morning tear to my eye to suddenly hear so much more than just the lyrics
Sometimes, all you need it a repetitive phrase and a catchy beat to make a good song. We still miss you, Daft Punk ♥.

Those guys were spending at least a week for finding the right sound for their song :D

So 100% of Daft Punk songs 😂
The funk soul brother. Turn it down for what?
This music video and dance choreography, might just be up there as one of the greatest artistic masterpieces of all time. Once you realise the dance stage is actually a vinyl record, and each group of dancers represents an instrument, the whole dance starts to come together. The small head tracksuit guys are the bass guitar. Notice they climb the stairs as the pitch increases, and descend when the pitch decreases. The synchronised swimmers dance to the keyboard notes. The mummies are the drums. Skeletons guitar. And lastly, the alien robot motrocycle helmet guys are the lyrics... It's an absolute masterpiece.
What kind of instruments? The complete song was designed by a computer .. 🙂
Reminds of those weird Bauhaus ballet costumes.
@@ralfhartmann5050 Using the computer, different sounds can be replicated to mimic live instruments. That is probably what it meant by instruments.
Absolutely! A true classic!
*REALLY???* 🤯
me and my brother would bump this just faded as teens it was awesome. this was right when cell phones started having internet haha love it
26 years! Masterpiece! Glad to be this cohort!
They're physically representing the musical cues and it quite literally comes together in the end and the dancing makes sense. I love it.
It's a literal physical song it's beyond creative I'll never get over this video
You've just opened my eyes, now this video seems a thousand times better
@@Pitahayaro There's a video with the music video's director Michel Gondry explaining it if you search his name and the word explanation. Basically the stage represents the time signature and each one of the types of costumes represent a different instrument (the skeletons being the guitars, break dancer guys are the bass, etc.) Really genius music video!
Thank you so much for pointing this out to me
That's pretty damn cool man
Still one of the greatest music videos of all time. So simple yet so intricately complex, perfect representation of the minimalist brilliance of Daft Punk. Fuck I miss them.
They still make music mang

Remember kids, this is your future if you get a university degree in modern dance. All jokes aside though, the more I watch this, the more I realize how intricately it is choreographed and how tightly it is executed by the dancers. Mesmerizing
there willl ever be anything like this ever again holy shit , looked like it only took 6 shots tooo unreal

Лучшая музыка👍👍Даже хочу сказать лучше нашей русской музыки
Absolutely, so tight and simple. Althought a Robot does make a mistake at 1:05 lol. As a video and concept it's stuck with me since I was a kid.
No idea what those words mean but I think I understand
J'étais toute petite ! Ça reste dans la tête ! Les meilleurs DJ Francais 🔥🔥🔥
They're all different beats in the song ❤🔥🔥
the fact you could watch this music vid and pin every beat to a specific group of outfits is amazing, the robotic voice belonging to well as you'd guess the robots, and like the hand clapping belonging to the mummies, and the bassline belonging to the skeletons, and so on, truly an amazing video and song
bassline is the grey dudes with the long torsos the wam wem wom wam pluck synths are the skeletons
This!!!!!
I had never noticed this detail until I saw the shorts talking about exactly that, which they posted a little while ago lol, amazing
But those 80'& 90's chicks bumpin to the music were phenomenal.
Not readin allat🆙🆙
This deserved an Oscar for the Best Short Film. Seriously. And I normally hate music videos. This is a true Work of Art.

Once one late night when I was a teenager (high as hell) I had the vcr recording MTV and this song/video came on. It was a magical moment ❤ My little brother and a friend were there with me to experience it.
Completely blown away! 🎶 This is pure gold! 💰
I couldn't even begin to imagine how the director managed to pull this one off....
There's a behind the scenes video for it. The fucking street guys are terrifying outside of costume.
