I remember one Kahoot game in highschool Spanish class, and that teacher was fairly cool. He said names didn't have to be exact (that battle would be foolish to wage) as long as he could tell who was who for credit, and as long as nothing was inappropriate. So people were putting things like 'James Is too Cool' or whatever. Incorporating their name or nickname into whatever they actually wanted to be. I pop in as just 'Spiderman', and one kid asks aloud, "Wait, who's Spiderman?" For context here, I'd been wearing a red and blue Spiderman hoodie all semester, ever since I bought it in a Halloween sale. Everyone in the class kept looking between that kid and me, it was pretty quiet besides the music. Teacher's like, "I'm pretty sure we all know who Spiderman is." Some other kid takes the opportunity to shout "Yeah! Peter Parker!" Ah, good times.

It was a different few people whose name got picked each time, after two or three popped up, that's when the flood gates opened. Too old for Kahoot, but one of the only teachers I had who would have used it would have just laughed at all the names. Pretty sure the session would have taken twice as long because he would have been laughing too hard to move things along. He probably would have named himself something like "Captain Butthole". If the student named "Emilia" didn't put exactly "Emilia" (even nicknames), she would kick the out of the game. So, one day, all the students just decided they were going to keep on putting random names and keep getting kicked out. It lasted for a about ten minutes before they got yelled at 🤣🤣 Edit: Alright... I had one teacher in the same situation as the Spanish teacher in this story but instead of looking herself, her solution was to have the students hunt down the person who put the fake name in while she waited. Eventually one of the kids in my class took the student’s phone with the fake name and took it to the teacher while the kid who just got his phone snatched was held in his chair by a couple other students who wanted those little rolls of smarties. She turned the whole class into man hunt there for a little while

I remember Edmodo and Kahoot in high school, I was so frustrated when my classmates ruined the fun stuff for us, and as a teacher now it frustrates me even more, just like how the fun stuff is for kids, it's fun for the teachers too. Gives us a break and a breather, so when some kids ruin it for everyone, it really does make our day feel that much worse
Don't worry. I make those people feel worse in Roblox games...by winning on them (but idk any rip).
That’s why I just plan my fun stuff for during breaks. I never expect anything good to happen at work, that way I’m never disappointed

@Ryan Echelberger But if we make everything about work, especially when it's the last couple of days before a break then the kids will lose motivation for learning early on if all we do is work work work. And it's stressful for us teachers as well so doing the Kahoot and other fun stuff is a breath of fresh air for all of us.

This video was literally the embodiment of my 7th grade science class, I mean it was ridiculous because the teacher knew she was being insulted and took it like a boss, she never did nothing about it until the last day of school where she simultaneously insulted the whole class and made the principle (who was taking a survey in the back of the room) laugh so hard that she dropped her computer on the floor!

This is painful and accurate to my experience with high school kahoot! I remember the struggles of the class getting punished because some douchebag made over 200 bot accounts join constantly in German class. There was this one time that we had to use our first and last name initials, and mine are literally (M.E.), but when the class saw that they starred laughing and the teacher thought someone was making a fool of themselves. I had to stand up in front of the entire class and explain to them how I'm not trying to be funny. That's just actually my initials. Then the class started to spam "It's ME" accounts to the kahoot!

I'm pretty sure I'm from an older generation, but I remember we had something similar going on, where we were given numbered remotes and the remotes were assigned to individual students. No confusion or ability for students to put in their own names. I think this is one way they could prevent issues like this (tho idk if Cahoot is an app used for various miscellaneous purposes and not just classrooms) Also, for the Mateo story, I'm surprised the teacher didn't just use the process of elimination and find which student's name was missing from the board, but I also don't know how big the class was so fair.
I remember those remotes from elementary school, also with Kahoot I went to a small school so process of elimination was easy 😂

I remember sometimes having to put in my student number on stuff like Kahoot! It didn’t happen too often, usually teachers allowed creative usernames as long as they weren’t offensive. The good thing about it was that when teachers shared a schedule with grades your name wouldn’t be on it, only your student number, so students wouldn’t laugh at the ones who got bad grades. You could tell who was new though, I had a number starting with 19 in college and due to having to start the year over and then deciding to take a different class, nearly all my classmates had a number starting with 20 as the number went up by 1 for every new student.

I went to a school where you could barely even get a network connection. The school didn't have Wi-Fi back then, and you had to be lucky to even get Edge, so very often, only half of the class would be able to play. You can imagine we didn't play Kahoot very often

The most popular one was "The (Teacher's last name) Bus". He didn't care tho, he was the chillest and most fun teacher I'v ever had.

So other people started to name themselves Condor or something similar to it, like Condor 2, Condor 7, Condor 18,000,000, you get the point. The teacher put a stop to it once she found out that everyone was screwing around, but the whole situation was hilarious.

I had a teacher who used both kahoot and edmodo. Edmodo was a learning management platform. It had quizzes that could be treated as games along with the ability to chat with the rest of the class. The teacher would provide links for fun things to do, give badges through the platform(which often went alongside a physical prize), and it was also the homework turn-in area. Edmodo was kind of like a class centered facebook and looked like one, too. The service just shut down in June 2022, so it can't be explored anymore

As an Asian, kahoot is literally worth my life. My classmates hate me. My teammates love me. Two days ago we had a math kahoot session, I started horribke because I had a headache with 6 failed question, everyone was ahead of me and my teammate was just emotional support. Into the 8th question I just start going up the list until I got into first place with 2.5k points left to spare so I could have failed 2 questions and still be on top. Asian powers took a bit to activate but it worked.
