Friends, Welcome to Meanwhile in the Garage,
As you know, everything I do in my videos I use in my garage.
The bench vice must be large, high-quality and comfortable.
I had an idea for a long time to make large-sized bench vise, when I had to work with large details, it was necessary to use two vices, which is very inconvenient.
So I decided to make my own bench vise with a large girth, so that it would be possible to work with large and not only things.
I am very pleased when one of my long-standing ideas becomes a reality.
Next, I plan to make a mobile table on which I will attach these bench vice, so it will be very convenient for me to fix large and heavy things in order to make welding or grind something.
In any case, I do not think that this vice will remain without work.
By the way, in my last videos I often used the word homemade, I said this because the garage is in my house and I do things as if at home, but it turns out that many people did not like the fact that I had a Lathe and a milling machine.
Once I myself really wanted to have the right materials and tools at hand, I also came to this not in one day.
Enjoy watching friends.
I read almost all the comments and try to answer all your questions.
Greetings from the Garage

Your simple technique for finding the center of pipes to drill is amazing. It is so simple yet I've never seen it done anywhere before.
- Weiter so :)
Vielen Dank mein Freund.
That trick with using a flat bar to line up a 90 degree on drilling a cylinder is a new one for me ... Thanks! A great build all around.
FANTABULOUS!!! I M AMAZED BY THE QUALITY OF EVERYTHING - SPEECH NEEDLESS - THANKS A BUNCH, BRO.
Excellent work - Clever way of making bearings... Sort like a twist on oil-light ones.
TEXAS Size clamp! superior design and craftsmanship.
Amazing amazing job! Love the correction ability for the skew in the jaws, looks like a useful addition to your shop.
I have plans to make a vise myself and was thinking of a dual screw setup. I was also thinking about gearing it down to get more torque to clamp down with. Seeing yours has given me some ideas 👍
Everything is a hammer, and a screwdriver is a chisel, I love it. Cheers.
Everything you touch turns to gold. Thank you for taking us with you on your journey.
Glad you enjoy it!
Awesome! You have given me a load of projects to do once my workshop is built!! You have made the lockdown very educational, very impressed with your workmanship and eye for detail. Thanks for your excellent work 👍
Not only is it bad ass it looks bad ass and I love how it works and how clean it is as far as the welds and cuts and machining
So cool, stumbled across your channel. It’s fascinating, I can’t build or do anything even close to this but I cannot stop watching. Very enjoyable and also entertaining, thank you.
It is probably criminal how much I enjoy watching your channel. more more more..........
Hey Nick, Thank you for watching our video's. Right now I'm editing the new one. Hope you'll enjoy it
Congrats!!! Great vise!!Amazed by the quality, precision of all your projects. Keep them coming!
So impressive the level of detail and problem solving skills you have. Thanks for sharing your knowledge!
I dunno what blew me away most, the fact that you did all that cross-hatching with a cutting disc or the really cool system for fine-tuning the threads.
You've got serious skills, very nice to see how delibirate you work.
This was totally fascinating. I'm in awe.
Homemade or selfmade doesn't matter. You build fantastic tools. Thank you for sharing.
Chapeau bas.
The adjustment he made for parallelism (wont adjust for backlash but) will deal with keeping the jaws parallel. Yes. cringed when he was welding on the mill table. (Wish i had some of that in my garage!!)
That is the best vise I've seen till now. Really nice job, you're inspiring
Brilliant trick with the flat stock to find the drill point on the tubing!
I kinda love the looks of it as it reminds me of a twincam engine.
You have an incredible talent and gift! Thank you for taking time to film, make, edit and post this video.
Dude this is one phenomenal piece of work on ur part. I've never seen a vise like this one evert so I have to salute u for a job brilliantly done. U got real skills man. I can only dream about having ur skill with metalwork. I'm about to embark on a build of my own but it's completely new to me and I'm a little bit, nae very weary of the task in front of me. I haven't worked with metal since I was 11/12/13 and I certainly haven't worked with Lathe's or welding since that time when I was in secondary school. I'm about to turn 51 yrs of age this October so I'm behind the curve a fair bit but I'm a quick learner and will please God catch up to the pint that I can build my own Table saw. The Arbor with the belt driven motor is the one thing I'm really unsure about. Thanks for maing this video my friend. It's really inspiring me to be better when I watch content like this. Keep them coming my bro and best of luck in the fiuture, not that u need luck with the skills u have. LOL I wish u all the luck in the world nonetheless my bro. Salute from Dublin, IRE.
Thanks bro
As one can expect - another awesome video, but not just a video, rather something to inspire us to think about making our own 'stuff' ;)

painstakingly meticulously the work is very much appreciated thank you for your video sir
Cool-quality work! Such devices should be appreciated at enterprises engaged in the production of equipment!
Your mastery speaks for it self when you make it so simple finding center of the job At 3:25
I like how you closed the clearances in the square tube with welds!!
WELL DONE, NICE JOB, LOOKS LIKE IT WORKS WELL.
PARABÉNS, VOCÊ É UM GÊNIO . CADA VÍDEO UMA AULA DE PERFEIÇÃO E UMA OBRA DE ARTE .
Watching you work is a great pleasure, because you are an amazing machinest and metal working artist.
I've never seen one with two threaded rods, great idea. Greetings from Bornheim :)
The right tools makes a nice job . Most people forget the mind is supposed to be the sharpest tool in your possession . Nice ! "Deeds not words"
Good jaab boss
thought you were going to say sharpest tool in the shed, its from the shrek movie
The main point is you have got to have a decent workshop to make these things and most people like me would be lucky to have a drill, jigsaw and circular saw in their garage
@@leongt1954 no , the main thing I am saying is with just a few hand tools , a sharp mind and time you are capable of doing anything . The first auto was made in a barn . One of the best rifles made was made by a prisoner in prison with basic tools . Watch the making of the Springfield rifle . The tools might make it easer and faster , but the mind and will makes it possible . Do not give up on yourselves . We have done the impossible with almost nothing more than hand tools a sharp mind and the will to get it done . "Deeds not words"
You're the man. Your videos are always a pleasure to watch. Thank you.
wow, the best vice I've ever seen, masterful engineering, I'm totally thrilled 👍👍👍 schöne Grüße aus Köln, Deutschland
That is a groovy build man. Way steadier holding on to BIG stuff than smaller vises that are in shops.
Du bist ein guter Ingenieur. Solche Menschen braucht Deutschland!
That's cool he stopped and did a comment response.👍 Nice vice.😃🤗
EXCELLENT! And wow - just by using simple, inexpensive tools that everone has got access too!!!! Impressive!!!!!!
Excelente trabalho, ficou incrível! Parabéns pelo projeto!
Meanwhile in my garage I’m just happy that I got a new saw blade for my miter saw. 🤣😂 That vise is amazing. When I first saw the thumbnail I thought there would be issues with backlash due to chain slack. If there is it’s minimal and not an issue. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
That is a great tool you have made. The lathe is such a great tool to do these kinds off things... along with a skilled operator like yourself. Thanks for the video, really enjoyed it.
Cant imagine people having an issue with "homemade" if its not a commercial product, and built by your hands. Thats homemade, heck I got the mill and lathe too, and you better believe I make some stuff at home, not as nice as your stuff though. Yet..lol great work dude
The Titanic was built by professionals; the Ark was built by amateurs.
@@eugenepearson4467 lol, good one
Good
all it takes is MONEY and lots of it,,, por me
Totally agree. If it works well homemade can be as good or better than commercial. I love fabbing up parts.
Have you thought about investing in a leather apron they tend not to burn as readily. Fantastic vise and workmanship.
I just saw tricks that took me back to high school lol, great video, EXCELLENT work
This is a professional work. Not someone can be do it. Thank you very much for sharing us that.
Shukran yaa Muhammad.
I was watching this and getting teased by my wife (who never watches videos with me) ....and then 8:19 happens. Huge coincidence and your timing couldn't have been better!
Nice to see you again James:-))
@@meanwhileinthegarage cheers! And also meant to say I appreciate the links for the tools you use. BTW what brand countersink do you have? Mine chatters badly
That was excellent.. what a cool machine
Wow, nice tools you just made, I wish I had half your tools and skills, I could build great stuff! Thanks!

Really a super useful and quality tool, but just watching the video you can see the amount of manpower involved in the project. I believe you shot it yourself, this is the worst part of the project, because there are hundreds of times that you need to stop your work to position the camera. I liked your video, because little by little I will start making small pieces with the mini lathe, congratulations! Leandro.
Thanks Leandro and good luck.
Wow, I have viewed a number of vises over KZhead, Most are functional. There is even a wooden geared vise similar to this one, but this one just looks quality. Thanks for posting the video.
Simple but awesome! After i watched.... i want to built something! God bless brother!
Surpreendente, parabéns pelo belíssimo trabalho. Show...
Fascinant, enthousiasmant. Comment dire... Bravo !
Great to see PPE on! Fantastic build...keep them coming ;)
awesome job and vise with the exception of welding performed on the milling machine table !!!!!
Muito criativo e muito útil! Parabéns ao autor!
Very interesting bench vise. I'm thinking about use my everlast welder to make myself a vise.
Very interesting and very new concept, what I appreciated. Congratulations, very good work.
Your video inspire me. I have a workshop and from your video l learn many new things.
Brilliant! I watch every video of yours and enjoy it.
Brilliant tool making AND video-making too! Thanks!
Put a bicycle 10 speed gearset on it with selector so you could pop it into high gear and open it in a few turns then switch back to the thicker gear when tightening.. just an idea.. looked like youd get a workout trying to open n close it..
Or weld a 3/4" socket and use a drill.
Was the Acme quicker turn thru bolt used...Seems slow..I built a wood cutting mill and used the cheap thru bolts .Slow is the word...Never again....Fantastic work mister. You rock..I bet everyone needs your tools...;)
Beautiful piece of engineering. God Bless You.👍🏻
Nevermind the critics, it's F-bomb AWSOME. Please send me 1? Doesn't have to be as large. I am looking at perfection when I watched video.
Very nice and precise work. I still didn't know what it would be until at 14.30 minutes I understood it :-) Quality, thumbs up.
Excellent video and process Your vise will be in use for many life times. Thanks for sharing.👍

JazakaLLahu hayran ya Ahii.
Beautiful, cool and high-quality work!
Not bad. But maybe some self adhesive felt strips on the inside of the outer square tubing to wipe debris of and prevent it from getting in the tube? And maybe a way to turn the handle with a battery powered screw driver, seems it needs many turns, probably gets tiring to open it all the way.
Que bien!! Gran ingenio y destreza. Un super like.
AMAZING project and job, perfect result, congrats
