This video is a summary of the first 15 years of VEJA. The sound was recorded in 2017, so it is not completely updated.
This is our journey. To all the people who believe in the VEJA project, since 2003, who helped us to launch, who are supporting us through sunshine and strong weather.
Dedication to our team, to the ones who are with us for a decade or more, to the ones who left for new adventures, to the ones who will join us tomorrow.
We have still a lot to accomplish.
Updated facts :
*LEATHER : From 2008 to 2015, we used only vegetally tanned leather. We changed in 2015 because of costs raises, as we were the only one to use this kind of leather in Brazil. Today, 40% of our collection is Vegan, we use well sourced common leather, chrome free leather (for example on the Campo model)
*TEAM : From 60 people in 2017, the team in 2020 counts more than 150 people.

Great idea, great story. But please, please, please... it would be very nice if you could start making half sizes!! Gorgeous shoes, but the sizing can be problematic for people that wears half sizes like myself.
Relatable 🙋🏾♀️ I am a 7 uk but they were too tight, therefore I sized up. Luckily the fit just right, but a I was frantically looking for a 1/2 size😫
Hi LiberaAniam, thanks for your feedback. For your information, we have two lines: one mainline line and one running line. Indeed, for our mainline line none of our kicks are available in half sizes. BUT, great news, for our running line most of our models are available in half sizes :) We always recommend to choose one size up for this model. I bought my first pair of Veja Campo. Super stylish and comfy. Been seeing these shoes in store, but I didn’t order my pair till I learned more about the story behind the brand and finally trying a pair on in store. Excited to wear them for my upcoming vacation!

The key word for sneakers is "comfortable". Yes "comfortable" because we buy sneakers as an everyday shoe for work, for night outs, for excursions etc. I bought Veja two weeks ago and they have already hurt my feet in 5 spots, I feel like a martyr "if it's animals or people getting hurt, let it be me".
I've got a couple pair and they are very comfortable. I would say the V-10 are most comfortable, and I'm trying to get my wife set up With a few pair so she can post them on her fashion blog, as she's An influencer. The problem is there aren't very many in stock in her size. I know we tried getting some 3 nordstroms and they have one option the V- 12 I believe in green. I may get her the pair are from Evereve. To be honest this compliment confuses me because I've bought several higher end leather shoes And these are the most comfortable ones. Have also bought some Steve maddens that were leather similar to the V10 and some P448's And they are not as comfortable as my Veja's. I thought these were incredible and then I bought a pair and it just confirmed my thoughts. I just stumbled across this video because I was trying to figure out how to pronounce Company name and I am so glad I did because I absolutely love your company now and I'm gonna scream it from the Mountain tops! Well I live in Kansas, so social media will have to do haha!
I just got mine and they’re extremely comfortable! I got the running shoe style ones and I gotta say they’re the most comfortable shoes I’ve ever worn. They also have a really satisfying natural rubber smell on the outside, not strong but if you intentionally smell it then you can pick it up. I’m very satisfied!

Thanks for being great for such a long time! :-) I remember when I bought my first Vejas and they weren't super hip back then! :-D But I just wanted to support new, fairtrade brands. Now, you have become a brand for sustainable shoppers as well as trendy hipsters - congratulations! :-) I especially would thank you for adding more and more vegan options! Because no matter how organic a cattle farm or any other form of factory farming is: A sentient being should never be born and raised just to die in a very young stage of their life. So I think, going plantbased in addition to organic, fairtrade and recycling is really the way to go for being as sustainable and environmental friendly as possible. Just got my Rick Owens collab sneakers. I absolutely love them and they feel amazing. I'll be watching the materials as I wear them like the rest of my sneakers, but they feel premium and durable. Good job Veja

my first pair is the esplar. would like to get the v12 when i can afford it. one of the very few shoe companies that offer their shoes in size 4, though i do wish it were a true women's size 4 as it still feels size 5. i still have to wear one of my own insoles in it to make it fit better

Is Vera a vegan brand
Hello Tenzin, thanks for your comment, VEJA means “Look” in Portuguese, it doesn’t stand for "Vegan". Concerning the leather we use, our leather is sourced in Brazil from the food industry. Indeed, in Brazil, meat consumption is very high and the company we work with used to burn all the skins instead of repurposing them. We use this waste leather for the leather of our kicks. In 2016, only 5% of our collection was vegan. In 2018, 25% and in 2020, 35.8% of our collection was vegan. Today 45,5% of our Adult collection is Vegan & 43% of our kids kicks are Vegan! A vegan material is not the ultimate solution because a lot of Vegan products are plastic or petrol-based. That’s why we have been researching this topic for five years now and found part of the solution. We finally found a revolutionary fabric: C.W.L., which is a bio-sourced material, made of organic cotton fabric covered with cornstarch and ricinus oil. The Veja project is not only about leather or non-leather kicks, it’s also about organic cotton, fair trade, insertion, and all-around re-thinking the production chain. We know that we are not perfect, but we do our best every day.
