My dear akhi/ukhti, we are living in hard times. Everyday we are being in a trouble with something... Problems can come from Marriage, School, Money, Work, Psychology and some other stuff. • I am 72 years of age now. I became fascinated by most of Imaam al-Ghazaali's books, translated into English from the 1970s onwards. I remember a good friend who was a fitness instructor born to a devout Catholic mother and an atheist father. This friend of mine was a kind-hearted fellow and we both became volunteer social workers in Singapore to help the needy. He too was an atheist until he came across the Ihyaa 'Uluum ad-Deen (Revival of Religious Sciences) of Imaam al-Ghazaali of blessed memory. It was in four volumes and translated into English by Fazlul Kareem a prominent judge in Bangladesh which was then known as East Pakistan. That book transformed my friend from atheism to a believer in Islam. Both of us are book lovers and we still collect and read books of interest. We meet every week for coffee to discuss and share our knowledge.

    • All religions presented themselves as Llies when they denied Jesus his sacrifice! God is holy and therefore inevitably always righteous. So God can never be merciful, gracious, because grace is not justice and therefore is wrong! A holy God can only be holy if he Never does wrong !! So Fact is without Jesus his SACRIFICE out of love for us we would all be lost! Only YHWH is not lying when he says he is HOLY and merciful! Who is YHWH equal? Exactly no one!! JESUS gave himself as a sin offering !! A pure life for a life !! Because we have to be holy = without guilt otherwise God will judge us fair and just !! Jesus is YHWH and thus the Creator of everything and thus has the weight to wash the whole creation clean with these pure lives (Blood) !! God bless you

    • @@hannawurst6064 Thanks for your rambling. These are all nonsense. If Jesus was the one who sacrificed himself for humanity, why was he crying on the Cross?! 😝 Why on earth was he running for his dear life?! 🤣 Jesus said "My father is greater than I". Does it sound like "My Father and I are co-equal."? If God wanted to forgive people, He could just forgive. Why all the drama? Why bloodshed?? In Christianity God is like Shylock who wants blood as a redemption. On the other hand true God forgives unconditionally. So, next time don't sell us your Christianity bullshit. The world is getting rid of this cognitive dissonance fast.

While Gazzali wrote mostly in Arabic, he wrote a few books in his native Persian language, among which is The Kimiyaye Saadat. He mentions that he has written this book for the common and general public, so he has avoided using too complex philosophical and theological discussions in its redaction. In a way, The Kimiyaye Saadat is an abridged version of his monumental multi-volume work Ihya'u Ulumiddin (The Revival of Religious Sciences). I am not aware whether there is a good translation of The Kimiyaye Saadat in English or other languages.

Maybe the new iPhone that is released or the next movie or video game will make you feel complete? Was spending 40-60 hours a week in your office worth it? Or do you feel like you could have done something different, spent time else where? Do you feel like you had a family or a community? Did you truly learn anything beneficial? Did you even find the truth? Maybe happiness is at the bottom of the next bottle or after the next joint or the next acid trip? Face the truth and submit, the west advanced the world into technology but for what psychological benefit? Our lives are simplified and convenient but we're never happy, always ungrateful, always looking for the next best thing. You are consumers who never give back! When we finally break and have a mid life crisis we go to a doctor for a magic pill, maybe something was just wrong with me? No!! Look at the Muslims, we do not waver in our faith and do not compromise. We remain grateful despite the pain, the suffering, and the war the West inflicts on us. Why? Allah's promise is True and the Day of Judgement is coming, abandon your arrogance and read as your lord has commanded before you have reached your appointed time! But we don't like to follow the laws of God, our desires have turned our hearts to stone.

    • Agree with you. In his last poem, a wonderful piece, he demonstrated the Hindu concept of the immortal soul, temporary body, the soul journeying after death. He spoke of death as moving from one house to another ( from one body to another....Reincarnation). Did not speak about waiting in the grave until the day of resurrection and judgment ,which is an Islamic and Christian belief.

Just started reading Ihya Ulumid din, I was curious to read the chapter called "the secrets of fasting" in the book as it's Ramadan and we all are fasting. I must say the author has beautiful insight and a beautiful vision with regards to these subjects. Now I'm excited to read more of his books.
