    • @@TJC6059 The patches can sell for $6500. The patches are on a jacket. You have to remove the patches and then individually sell them and also keep track of them and store them before you can get the opportunity to make the sale. You have no clue what economics are and think they're going to find a buyer the next week who'll buy it for $6500 as is, when that's clearly not the case. $3000 for a few dozen items that can take years to sell is a fair price.

In fact in one of the episodes she said a book couldn't be as old as the seller thought because there was black ink and black ink hadn't been invented yet. The problem is if you looked closely you could tell it wasn't black ink it was a mixture of different colors together to make a dark mixture. She is kinda lame actually but people go crazy for her 'cause she's a chic.

  • I really respect the history expert. He doesn't appraise the items so he isn't complicit in experts giving the price within the range of asking price if the item is more valuable, he doesn't help with ripping people off. He just looks at the items, tells their historical value and their authenticity. You can really see he is a principled man.

  • My friend has an army jeep from the 40's she got from her father. We used to call him Popeye when he'd come home from work in it, when we were kids in the early 60's. Her father is deceased now and its mostly kept in the garage except its used for parades. We loved it as kids!

    • Some people don't look at things in a sentimental way. My brother in law is like that. For instance, I have my grandfather's pocket watch. I wouldn't sell it because it was my grandfather's pocket watch and it means more to me than whatever it's worth, but if it were my brother in law and his grandfather had given him his pocket watch, he'd look at it and say "That's a nice watch. Bet I can get $100 for it."

    • I hear ya. My uncle fought in WW2. He collected a few coins from every country they liberated, and a bullet. Why a bullet, no idea. Before he passed he gave all this to me, plus a few other things including his uniform and helmet. Same as you, I cant imagine ever getting rid of any of it.

  • That “restoration” on the handcart absolutely killed the value in the eyes of a collector. He removed many original parts and put a cheap krylon paint “job” on it (if you can even call it that). I would’ve bought the pre-restoration cart for $1000 all day any day. I wouldn’t touch the “restored” one with a 10 foot pole.

  • For those documents around 13:35, just have them professionally copied with a similar ink but a little darker and frame those. Keep the originals in a secure environment. You have the best of both worlds by displaying and also keeping the originals safe.

    • @@hamaljay I'm not from the USA, but likely a lot of documents on display would be copies to protect the originals. I was thinking mostly of private collections of where sunlight would damage it but want to display it at the same time.

  • It has always bothered me that Rick can't say "cavalry." The "expert" said it, too. Must be a Vegas thing. CALVARY is the site where Jesus Christ was crucified. CAVALRY is a mounted military unit. 1st Cavalry is called "1st Cav" not "1st Cal."

    • It's random. The sellers are scheduled with appointments to come in. The experts are prebooked for that time slot. If the experts do the appraisal in front of the seller, they will already have given the real higher appraisal off camera.

  • I knew something was off with the Pilot's Jacket owner claiming it had been above Normandy but I recognized the Marine Corp "globe & anchor" on the patch & the characteristic gull wing of the USMC Corsair plane in the pic which also described as such, & including the squadron. 😳
