Alex, I noticed that you were asked in your last video about the progress of the Iron Man suit, and you commented that if it was not metal then perhaps it would not count and this caused problems with the weight. I would like to think that I speak for everyone when I say this is not the case! The function and practicality of the suit is far more important. It does not really matter how it is made or what it is made of, what matters is how effective the suit would be to maximise mobility, strength and protection while minimising thickness and weight. Looking forward to 10 years time with you flying around in your finished suit, badass and bulletproof!
you deserve a lot more attention man, the stuff you make is amazing
agreed, its a shame
Not too much though the feds would be after this man
Bro i thought you got drafted no cap
If he did then Ukraine would have been well and truly fucked
Fr bro same i was scared

@@theencryptedpartition4633 As well?
You just brought back my desire to create my superhero armor. I actually been subscribed to you for a long time.
Hello Alex! A little tip that you may find useful when it comes to polishing resin. If you use car headlight polishing paste with a microfiber cloth, you can 'buff' the resin to an amazingly high polish. I learned this while trying to create resin dice from the channel Rybonator on youtube, this may be a level of polish that is unnecessary for your goal, but I figured that it wouldn't hurt to share! Wish you the best from Texas
Thank you! I`ll do it in next video.
@@ALEXLAB hey Alex why don't you use titanium and carbon fiber composite together for your suit? And I just want to tell you that with jets like gravity industry your suit will be a real flying iron man suit. Wish you all the best for your iron man project and lots of love from India.
Who's waiting for Full Suit FOR YEARS 🔥🔥
What a fantastically detailed video, thanks so much for going over all of the process, and *especially* the pitfalls / troubles you ran into. It's really helpful for people who want to start out with this kind of work.
Very thorough and well presented information, if it were just audio. But add the visuals, and even more so. I'm guessing you got straight As and kicked ass with your reports. 🙂👍 Thank you from a fellow nerd in California.
Dude, your work and presentation is top notch! Even if I won't apply the skill immediately I can always come back here in the future :) Regarding the mold surface, would it work if you added filler in it before sanding it and avoid the layer lines? Or maybe using a filament made to be sanded?
You explaining it like we gonna make it this ourselves, we never gonna recreate this as well as you bro! Love it tho!
I can’t wait to see him don a full working iron man suit one day.
Awesome work and thanks for the tips. was wondering where you went bro, I'm glad to see you're still doing this. I really like your channel. Be safe my friend.
I was just remembering and looking for things related to exoskeleton suits and mechanical arms for disabled people or for robots... AND I GET A NEW VIDEO OF YOU!
Good watch thank you. Always wanted to make a carbon fiber/kevlar shield with an ablative coating for fighting dragons.
Glad to see you are doing ok, dude. Love your videos, love your work.

@@ALEXLAB i see the latest one from 8 hours ago about diy strength testing materials,
Love the channel ironman legs that help the user of the suit walk longer and with less energy
The little trick about using 2 cups for the epoxy mixing is gold. I've looked at uncountable videos on epoxy use and no one's mentioned that before, yet plenty have had issues with uncured/poorly mixed epoxy. Also, washing the part between swapping grits/polishes is something few talk about, but I had to learn the hard way.
Awesome content, Alex! Thanks a lot!
amazing vid! so glad you're still posting considering everything!!
That gretta burn had me lolling
amazing stuff Alex
Can't wait for the next video!!! i wanna see where this journey takes you!

Amazing video! So inspiring.
Keep at it bro! You're doing amazing!
Brilliant stuff!
The carbon fiber face plate looks so much awesome
Way to go Alex!
Cling film as a release ' agent' tends to work very well with molds like this.
Love your stuff!

Wow Just Wow
There are water soluable filaments on the market. They are usually used for support material during printing. You could use filament like this to make parts with complex geometry and dissolve the mold Later. You can pack complex geometry with small scraps and loose thread carbon fiber. It will look non perfect but will be functional
Very cool
vacuum bagging is very nice
Long time no see, Alex! Great video.
You are the best Alex Lab the only Tony Stark in Real life.
finally. carbon fiber man.

The fact you don't have millions of subscribers honestly surprises me.
Awesome

Should be doing this with my clone trooper helmet fairly soon, given it must finish printing.

Very cool!! I heard somewhere (no clue where) that if you make this kind of armour, it would be stronger if the weave where placed so the grain of the weave would go in different directions. Basically each layer would have an individual square, with an individual weave pattern. In your opinion does it matter, or are the benefits negligible?
Good vid
The 'Iron Man' name exists only because his suite was made of iron/ metal... You take that away and now he is 'Carbonfiber Man'😂😂.... Jokes aside i think its really cool and awesome what you do... Keep doing such amazing projects🔥❤👍🏼

You are a treasure
I have 2 questions, One is far more complex than the other. The complex one is first : Would it be possible to save manual work time & effort at the mold phase of production by having an interior and exterior mold in a lock & key style as a press? meaning having the concave portion that you put resin and fiber in like you do now, but with the addition of a convex print, so that each sheet of carbon fiber could be coated on each side, inserted, then the convex part is on top like a sandwich, and then pressed with a vice or weak hydraulic press? it would save the manual effort of going one layer at a time and filling in details, as the convex part could also include pores to allow gas to escape, which means the actual labor time is lower. This is also essentially how coins are minted, and vinyl records where produced. I would be interested to know if that works with carbon fiber and resin with more complex geometry than simply a sheet. The second question is much simpler, Why can molds not be re-used / would it be possible to make a multi-use mold either as a 3d print, or use a 3d print to create a non-3d printed multi-use mold?
I reuse the mold I use for my bikes front mudguard, but its fiberglass not 3d printed.
@@austindavies6371 yeah, most molds are reusable up to a certain number of times before they wear out. Im just curious about the effects on 3d printed molds. Do they crack, or just loose detail? At this level, since things get somewhat sanded, the loss of detail wouldnt be that big, but for moving parts would be serious. Does mold release damage the plastic? It just seemed very glossed over in the video.
What about filling out a mould using "forged carbon fibre" ? I absolutely adore your work!!!
Cool
Is there anything stopping you from using a heat gun to smooth 3d prints?
I was wondering once this series of composites is finished, what would be next? Back to a better power source?? Or it better to not spoiled the surprise.
You are so cool
Loved the video. It inspired me to start 3d printing with the eventual plan of making helmets and such out of carbon fiber like this! Ok, Alex, brass tax; I've looked everywhere but I can't find a tutorial to invert the 3d design the way you did, how did you do it?
Would there be a benefit to laying the carbon fiber down in different directions as to get the most strength?
bro it been so long that i last seen you upload
Can you please write what last videos do you see on my channel? I noticed that most of my subscribers cant see all my content
@@ALEXLAB the last one i seen was the 3d model to metal helmet and then youtube just never told me you uploaded again until i looked you up
Consider using a bottle jack press mixed with a vacuum bag to make a higher compressed mold which will remove more defects while being able to use even more layers of fibers. This should help with making the parts stronger and more "bulletproof".
Gotta love that beard!
Can you make an tutorial for 3d mold parts ?
Hi could you tell me the length of your helmets and are if they to the correct scale please.
You should try to rotate each layer of carbon fiber so it is stronger like a "terciado" tertiate

@ALEXLAB Alex, check out this video about compression moulds with carbon fiber. "Make Forged Carbon Fibre Parts Using Compression Moulding". The printed moulds were two or three parts. After layering down the CF (he was using chopped carbon tow) he compressed the mould in a vice and let it cure. The parts seemed to have pretty high detail, and I suspect this method would help ensure the fine detail of parts shows up in the finished product.
Why you didn't tried to make a repulsor using charged particles and magnetic field ?
IS IT POSSIBLE TO DO A 3D PRINT AROUND 7 INCHES WIDE AND REINFORCE THE INSIDE WITH CARBON CLOTH!!! ?? I GUESS THAT ANSWERS THAT QUESTION!! GREAT IDEA THANKS !!!
6:24 Have you ever thought about placing the resin in a pressure pot to "crush" the bubbles?
Could I use the same process to reinforce the 3D printed parts from the inside (IML)? So I could keep the 3D details on the OML. Would the resin adhere to PLA?
I was wondering that? You could also print them with one of the carbon fibres threads.
Hey bro I have some concepts I want to share with you, unfortunately I'll never get to build what I've designed and you are the only person who I believe would appreciate them. So do you receive emails?
Do you know how to make Arduino

The Real Tony Stark !
Hi Bro 😘😘
am i the only one who assumes his workshop is in an underground bunker?
If anyone out there needs a 3D modeler I'm available. Will work for trade in circuit design and components. I also have a resin 3D printer if anyone needs prints. At the moment it's just a hobby but I want to open a full blown shop to custom print parts.
I would print the part that I wanted and then use it as a press mold into a wet sand bed (like they use when metal casting) so that the fiber forms to the printed part with less variation due to the mass of the wet sand acting like the other side of the mold. I would also print and cast the areas that have complex geometry as separate parts and then seam them into the other elements of the total part by using the same technique you do, but alternating the layers of the composite so that the resin merges them together into a completed piece.
Describing the above method better: design your parts with some deliberate overhang (say 5mm on each side and do NOT treat them with the resin) so that when you seam them together the 5mm overhang becomes 5mm of joining fiber and can account for joints and sharp bends.
