In this video, I will dive into a little CNC lathe use for turning square stock to 1.35 round stock for use in my next cue. I go into slight detail about how the CNC lathe works and what some of the G-Code means and why we use it.
Thank you for the videoes Chris. You and Ed are doing a great thing for cue makers .
You are more than welcome, and we look forward to providing more content asap!
I would be very interested in seeing a video of the CNC machine that you sell. Would like to see the options and features that are available with these machines. Thank you.
Hi, I will be creating a dedicated page for the machine that I produce and will add videos on that page for those interested. I do not want to veer away from the purpose of this channel very much.
Perhaps a video on A joints is in the works? I’m always super curious about all the different methods of putting cues together, especially the old school ways
Yes, I plan to do a video on constructing the "A" Joint very soon.
Thanks for providing this info for people who want to know. I guess the depth of the cut does not really require you to use a spur drive. I would love to see more video like this. For example, taking a 30" square and turning it into a butt taper and a dowel into a finished tapered shaft. Thanks again.
Thank you very much for your comment, We fully intend to provide such videos soon. To answer the question about the spur driver, No sir, this is not required when taking passes of .020" or less. I have actually taken passes of .050" without the use of a spur driver. It is all about the tension between centers and a sharp cutter.
Did you use a drive dog or something like that to get the torque from the rotary axis into the workpiece?
No sir, Spur drivers and slave dogs are not required for this operation. The pressure between centers combined with cut depth per pass and a sharp 6 wing cutter is very sufficient.
@@CuemakersGuild Thanks!
@@johannglaser no problem at all!
