🤜 Just ordered mine.. I have a mini 2 and mini 3 Pro. I was thinking of buying the Mavric 3 Pro or Cini but just could not justify spending 3.5 to 5k on a drone when this is just a hobby not a job.

Hi Darren, Another great video I like the way you tell it as it is, warts and all. It’s another learning curve for me v my Air 2S. What’s not to like? 2 cameras, cruise control - 360 obstacle avoidance - waypoints - occusync 4 - different Advanced Gimbal Settings to name a few. I am still finding the stick controls very sensitive to touch. Maybe I am heavy handed. The journey continues, have a great weekend. Regards Nigel G
I just purchased the DJI AIR 3 for my very first drone and absolutely love playing with all the features it offers. I don't have anything to compare it to but I absolutely love it.
Just got my Air 3 last week. Im brand new to drones and I'm blown away by the quality of the video and the performance. Mind you I only use my drone for fun recreation but I think it will be a very long time before I feel a need to upgrade to something else. The issues most people complain about are way over my level. There is so much to learn....its addictive!

@@fire-sj2jg my humble opinion, if you like to travel around the world, I think Mini 4 Pro will be more suitable as in many countries that no need formal licensing and extra courses need to be taken. If you prefer decent quality then go for Air 3. These 2 are the best consumer deal across all DJI products with worry-free flying.

I bought the Air 3, and I have to say, I'm loving it, quick if needed, very responsive, great picture and video, brilliant battery life and I've flown it a lot, and not had any signal issues. Yes, the camera is smaller, but it uses a superior technology so is actually better.🤛
I have been flying a Spark for a few years and upgraded to Air 3 just weeks ago. My hands were literally shaking when I had my first flight as my dollars were high up in the sky with no insurance 😂 But needless to say, that thing is a beast. It's powerful, quiet and really flies! I am just hoping to make good use of it for years to come.

Great comparison Darren. I have the Air-3 and I love it! Haven't flown it much because the temperature is so unbarable this year for some reason. (100+ degrees) but, when the temps drop a bit, I will be taking it out often. Thanks for all your video's.

I got my Air 3 a month ago and , while on a trip, have been using it in Colorado, north of Durango and Silverton. I have been using a Phantom 4 pro plus for over 7 years. The Air 3 completely solved the lack of reception I constantly experienced with the P4 pro, but I can't use my expensive Skyzone goggles with the Air 3 due to no HDMI port on the RC 2N controller. I hope DJI will come out with a controller with an HDMI port.
When dji launched air3 I trashed them in comments like anything . Post your video I sold my mini 3 pro and upgraded to air 3 . The performance of it just slapped me for being wrong about DJI . There is drastic diff between mini 3 pro and air 3 in image quality . Low light is top notch and stable footages always no need to mind wind unlike mini 3 pro . Loved the new rc and battery package . Thank you so much for the review and sorry to DJI for wrong about you
I bought the Air 2 back in 2020. In 2021 the Air 2s was realised. Gutted was an understatement. Never going to fall for that old DJI trick again. I can guarantee as God makes little green apples in 2024 there will be a refresher Air 3 model that will have some arse kicking features. What they will be I'm sure you'll be making another splendid video on it 🤜

Agreed. I bought the Air 2 and it was good for me until I tried a friend's new Air 2s. I got the Air 2s over a year later. A few months ago a friend bought the Air 3 and it's great but I'm going to hold out for the Air 3s that will undoubtedly come out later this year. I've had 3 Sparks, 2 Mavic Pros, an Air 2 and Air 2s. Never bought a drone brand new, all mint condition second hand. The Air 3s maybe my first new drone.
Good comprehensive video! As for your point about "stacked sensor", I looked up the DJI Air 3 spec sheet and didn't see that listed. Then I contacted the DJI support and got the response that Air 3 doesn't have a stacked sensor. So my guess is that Air 3 is simply doing better software processing.
I Have the mini 3 pro and will be looking at the Air 3 In the new year it looks to be a quality drone for the price point and ideal for the hobbyist.

You have one of the best channels I have appraised anywhere on KZhead for this type of content. Brilliant. I use the drone to capture footage of our courses we deliver to UK Emergency Services and Military. I didn't want to jump up to MAVIC 3 pro too soon, but from the Air 2s the air 3 offers a whole lot more. Now I want to produce better content with Final Cut Pro to showcase the training we provide. A very good and informative review! I was a bit hesitant on the two camera setup, but after having seen the two cameras in action I’m setting my sights on this. I agree on that one could wait forever for new great stuff to no avail, but something I am waiting for are ND filters for this. 😅

I didn’t know people were hating on this drone. I only have a mini 3 pro which I love but I’ve watched videos about the air 3 and it’s definitely intriguing.
what a fantastic and well put together channel you have , i look forward to the next video you put out every time. but before it gets to late can you please make a short video about what happened and where dose the Mavic 3 fit in to the DJI line up now. i Managed to pick one up just as they were discontinued but i dont understand why. was it because the Air 3 was on its way if so why ? id love to hear your thoughts on this. keep up the amazing work you do.

Do you feel it’s too late in the cycle to snag a mavic 3 pro. Feel like there is definitely a 4 coming w occusynch 4. And compatibility with a. New rc pro controller. And perhaps cam lengths that are easier to put together without obvious camera quality differences. What do you think?
I own a Air 2s. So I don't really need to upgrade for now. But I think that dji should bring a firmware update for 2.7k vertical video. Since you can already do that if you crop 5.4K video ( and even have a little more pixels than 2.7K) , but even if they only make an overlay on the video feed to being able to compose knowing where the vertical video limits are.

I will order too as I am moving from the very poor parrot anafi and this will be my first Dji drone. So the controller is not an issue for me and I prefer to use my iPhone 14 Promax as the screen is bigger than the new controller and out of your palms! The sensor of the camera does not bother me either or the aperture. I care about collision avoidance and about range but I will also buy the two year care as backup.
I just bought mini 3 non pro as my first drone and I’ll prolly upgrade when the launch the mini pro 4. I’ve still got much to learn. But having so much fun doing it.
That 3 non pro is one of the best bangs for you buck right now. I've been playing with one and it's surprising me. I love the Massive flight times with the plus batteries.

O4 and the RC2 are bonkers. The 70 mm lens is fantastic and I use it part of the time every time I fly the Air 3. I am keeping my Mini 2 and the Mini 3 Pro as they have important places for me. But the Air 3 is FANTASTIC. I feel like I have come a long way in my 75 years since making high-flying kites and spinning in circles with gas powered airplanes on a string in my youth. Picked up the mini 3 pro - it’s now dropped to £700 - I’ve learnt to wait. I noticed footage I did on my mini 2 - tbh it’s so subtle for most things and I’m having a lot a fun. It’s raining again in the U.K. so I’ve hardly been able to get out and use the mini anyway.

I've been perfectly happy with my Mini 3 Pro but in time a few weaknesses showed - I love shooting longer focal lengths so always wanted the tele lens of the Mavic but the whole package was overkill for me. The Mini 3 does move around a fair bit in even light wind & it was lacking waypoints and some of the other useful shooting modes. The Air 3 ticks all the right boxes & has turned out to be the perfect upgrade. It's SO much more stable in wind, the extra speed is really useful (especially the descend speed) and the quality of the footage is definitely better and I find it much nicer to grade and more flexible in post. People like to harp on about the sensor size (which has become the new "megapixels" spec warrior moment) but the quality is definitely improved over the Mini 3 sensor. The stacked tech is a lot better in low light and very pleasantly surprised at how much better it is.

That was My Big Disappointment was that my RC Pro Controller would not be compatible with the Air 3 I am waiting now before buying the Air 3 to see if that New RC 2 controller will be compatible with my Mini 3 Pro and other DJI Drones. Still loving my Mavic 2 Zoom with RC controller v1. Serves my purpose. Not getting caught up with new tech. There will always be something new and “better”.
I have an original Mavic Pro, should i upgrade to the Air 3 or the Mavi 3 pro ? what will be the bigger improvement from what i have ?
I have both the Air 2s with the RC Pro controller and new Air 3 with RC 2. One bummer not mentioned is that you can not fly with ANY third party apps with this setup. The new RC 2 controller does not give you access to browse out on the internet and load third party apps. You would have to use your phone with the RC 2N to get access to apps, and once you fly without your phone you won't go back. With all that being said, the flight time, the 70mm lens, the extra sensors and the range are all worth it! The Air 3 has some compromise for sure, but overall, it's a step forward for sure.
Finally.we potential buyers would like an honest assessment like this instead of biased youtube videos. Would anyone will buy this when they know there will be another s version in few months with 1 inch sensor? I think youtube is becoming false advertisement portal for companies. Please call it when its not up-to the mark.

Has DJI ever taken a step backwards when making drones. I suspect this stacked sensor is kind of like a prototype for whats to come, imagine the research they must be doing. I am sure any drone from here on will be awesome (as everything thus far). For me any current drone would be a huge upgrade to my air 1. Way pionts and 360 dec. sensors sold me on the air 3. The rotating camera.. couldn`t care less about it. so for me it`s perfect. Just got mine, maiden flight this weekend.
I've been flying an M2P for a long time. This is a pretty darn good every day drone.

Well if for new beginner or anyone out there never played an actual drone before, and also want some quality of video shooting, no doubt it’s the best choice out there - affordable price, medium-high specs, fantastic transmitting speed, worry-free flying. I also owned a Mini 2 SE I think this is a great upgrade, Mavic 3 Pro was just too expensive 😢

Brilliant. This is the first time I’ve heard one of the ‘main’ drone channels speaking sense. I bought the Air 3 on the day of release having sold my Air 2s. I own a mavic 3 classic and mini 3 pro. The Air 3 does sit right in the middle. I’ve not, for one second, thought an Air 3s was coming out. The quality and performance is outstanding. I’ve just got home from a month on the Cornish coast. The Air 3 has clocked up more airtime in that month than my Mavic which I’ve had for longer. It just wouldn’t make business sense for dji to ‘upgrade’ the camera system on the Air 3 to make the Mavic redundant. The only gripe I have is the remote/ O3-4 compatibility. I don’t own the pro controller and would have liked the new one to be backwards compatible like the rcn1 can fly O2 & O3.

Absolutely agree with that 1.3 sensor are amazing even in night time,. I think peole hate it that who have mavic 3 or air2s and they expect to update in this way. But i totaly suticfied about this Drone like it even more my previous which is mini 3 pro.
Does the 48mp mode still suffer from the same chromatic aberrations and colour shifts as much as the mini 3 Pro? It'd be interesting to see seeing as they both use the same omnivision ov48c sensor.

As a Mini 3 pro user I feel it's decent stability is a big issue when you try for long exposure or Hyperlapse it's worse . Air3 always have upper hand over it
My only concern, right now, is 'where is the CAA going' !! I'd love an Air 3 purely for the 70mm camera. I currently have a Mini 3 Pro and am perfectly happy with the results from that; and where I can fly it.

i love em all 3 … the Air 2S, the Mini 3 Pro and the Air 3 (ordered on date of release, because of the 70mm camera if EVER missed on the other two birds) … and guess what => the air time of A2S and M3P have dramatically decreased 🙄🤷🏼♂️ but i‘ll keep em all three 😊 the M3P as THE lightweight travelling drone, or in situations where i really want this stealthy quiet lovely one, which doesn‘t cause a lot of interested people 😊 and the A2S for it‘s wider angeled footage, the possibillity of 3rd party mapping software, and for higher quality photos to use for enlarged wall art pictures and posters 😉 and by the way, thanks a lot for your very informing videos, which i could enjoy each time again 🤗

I'm fine with Mavic 3 Classic, personally I would have loved tele lens, but I've never used it in my whole life. So, guess I'll survive without it :D (The tele-lens was the only real game-changer for me because having the Classic and RC Pro I don't feel the need of O4, it's overkill for everybody)
QUESTION: Im coming from the DJI Phantom 4pro and for the RC, I needed to plug in my cell. My cell would keep a copy of the video I would record at a lower quality, does this RC for the DJI Air 3 keep a lower quality video in it?
What is going to happen in low light? In comparison to the Air 2S? Comparison in the daytime really is going to be equal with any modern drone but low light is the one inch sensor an advantage?
I gotta say, the new BACK-LIT stack is sexy. It won't be long until they launch the air3s, it'll be the keeper. Given dji uses sony sensors, maybe they make a design compromise and use the new cmos aps-c sensor from the new a6700? Smaller, backlit, and lighter than the air 2s 1 inch camera but much better. That way they could have true dual cameras but not outpace the mavic line.
For the compatibility with the RC Pro. I think DJI could release a firmware to the Air 3 that would make it backwards compatible but I think the reason they don't want to is based on a business reason in order for them to sell a new Pro controller in the future. Next few drone launches watch. We will have the RC Pro 2. It's like upgrading to a new CPU. If it fits in the same socket then there should be no reason to use that CPU in my old motherboard. I get the new tech but that is hardware and not software. I wonder if all the hackers out there can somehow hack the firmware for the RC Pro to work but I don't think they can because of the lockdown on software the Drone has. I also think their maybe a slot in-between the Air 3 and the Mavic Classic where I think they can squeeze another drone in there to address some of the concerns.
Thanks so much for your videos, it was a great help choosing my first drone, getting on in my years so VLOS is quite important, so glad I went with air 3, the mini 4 pro would be just to small, this bird at 100 metres is very visible indeed, and really has all the safety features needed for a drone beginner like myself, big thumbs up, sadly in Germany, if your links would have went to Amazon germany, I could have used your links, but Amazon UK, sadly could not use the link, also you get so much more better and stronger computer components inside the air 3, more room to breath for the fan, that the minis do not have.
