Sounds and the smoke looks just like the sounds and smoke from an very early International Harvester Diesel, in power units and bulldozers, 1940s thru early 1960s used a pre combustion chamber design, caused them to run rough until warmed up, then they ran smooth and the smoke went away.

@orangie8413 жыл бұрын
It is a Kirovets 7111, a variant of the 700K. its usually a 12 cyclinder 280HP or more machine. They were originally designed as the tow vehicl for mobile ICBM launchers. they are articulated (i.e. no steering of the front- they have a hydralic pivot near back of cab that pivots the front using hydralic cylinders. They are used for plowing large farms, usually in the USSR 1000 hectares or more- good for places like Ukriaine, Kazakstan and parts of Russia where they had huge collective farms.

The "starter" turns the powerplant untill it gets oilpressure. After that you give it some juice to start up. Big diesels do smoke during wintertime, after starting.

@Trigg3rHippie10 жыл бұрын
Actually, this thing has two engines. The main diesel engine, and a smaller one, a "phoney engine" which acts as a starter engine. The main engine is either a V8 Turbodiesel or a naturally aspirated V12 diesel.
@DolleHengst10 жыл бұрын
chad h Maybe in the US they call it a pony engine. But in other parts of the world it's it's called fake engine. It's a real engine with it's own starter motor, but it's doesn't function as an engine, it has no part in the propulsion of the vehicle. Therefor, fake or phoney engine.
@DolleHengst9 жыл бұрын
chad h Yup, it's there because the main engine is too big to be started by an electrical starter powered by a car battery.
@Trigg3rHippie9 жыл бұрын
Trigg3rHippie Actually there are starter motors large enough, just back when these were made those starter motors usually cost as much as the main engine, Their pretty impressive Electric motors (for their day) these starter motors had enough torque to turn a Cold engine, and entire drive train (and other tid bits to a weight of 3 tonnes) about 10 meters in each Pulse (the biggest problem was the torque would strip teeth of the flywheels/engaging gear

Incomplete combustion of a cold start compression ignition diesel engine. Reminds me of an old Fiat Dozer that we had. It had a straight pipe stack right off of the turbo. It would smoke like this until the engine reached normal operating temperature. It was an early 70's model. Nowadays, with the US tier 4 engines are lower compression, so they do not smoke on start up. This Belerus probably has a very high compression ratio.
