  • The fact that he jumped straight to thinking about other girls the moment he was annoyed is unbelievable. All she did was ask him to not be on his phone 24/7 and he treated her like a monster. Edit: Its not really a hamster its supposed to represent his phone. He just sees her as evil from his perspective.

  • I like how at first you think that the girl is just being unnecessarily controlling and possessive because of the man trying to play with his hamster: but then it turns out that she's just trying to divert his attention from the phone he keeps using when it's supposed to be them spending time together. Cute ending.

And it eating the flower was the phone wiping away their love and memories. Him petting the Guinea pig resembled swiping on a dating app or social media. The flowers resembled love and the necklace resembles true love. Edit: Where tf did I get 200likes from

  • I love how when the "snake" chased him down to the restroom was a venomous snake targeting its prey but when the guy opens the door for a split second, it shows the girl in a completely concerned state and is not a "snake" anymore. For me it felt like, her anger and annoyance from the guy neglecting her made him envision her as a snake and as the "snake" chased him to the restroom was just her trying to approach and is worried for the guy.

  • 5:07 for me, it was the best moment because it foreshadowed that the girlfriend wasn't a snake like he imagined. The expression on her face was telling that she was genuinely upset with his neglectful behaviour and yet still caring about him. And I'm glad that he realised how precious their relationship was. Honestly, the whole twist is really great, it teaches us how important to be more attentive to our love ones and treasure the bonds we have. Thank you for such a great animation and story!

  • I feel like the flowers appearing represent their relationship growing and love for each other in the photos/memories. When the boyfriend was on his phone he was reminiscing their good times and kinda daydreaming about it but when the guinnuie pig ate the flowers it shows that his phone was destroying their relationship. I guess he thought he wasn’t doing anything wrong because the whole time he was thinking about the good times in the past with his girlfriend but what matters is what’s in the moment with the people you love. That’s why they had such good memories before. Because they were in the moment with each other.

The entire short film we were viewing from his eyes, we didn't get to see the entire picture, we saw the girlfriend the way he did as well as the situation from his pov. Once we hit the revelation in the bathroom, the perspective was changed, I think symbolizing that he's finally stepping out of himself and grasping the true nature of his actions and his reality rather than fooling himself and us into thinking his girlfriend was the villain. We get to watch the rest from the outsider perspective just like him when he finally accepted that he was in the wrong. This was beautiful!

  • This is such a fun subversion of your initial expectations, the girl is initially framed as superficial and mean on such a stereotypical way and then it gets revealed that the her cruel attitude towards the hamster was actually towards the boyfriend's cell phone, and since the story was locked into his perspective he sees it as something that deserves his attention and care causing him to ignore her completely. It's such an original view on two characters like that, when it feels like most works would side completely with the guy making the girl seem like a horrible petty snake.

Or when you see that person surrounded by friends, while you are the stranger with social phobia and loner.

  • Guinea pig = His phone. The motion of petting the guinea pig with his finger = scrolling his phone. Guinea pig eating flowers = His phone-addiction is destroying his relationship with his gf. Girlfriend was as lovely and sweet as the girl next table when the guy just met her. As time goes by, guy has been always distracted by his phone and neglected her. When she was upset by that, he saw her as a bossy and venomous snake and secretly compared her with another girl. Yet he didn't realize it was his attitude upsetting his gf. Relationships have to be fixed and maintained. Yet too many couples just break up when something goes wrong. A very ordinary love story yet every couple could learn something from it.

But as the metaphor is lifted it becomes a story of neglect after he has his hamster broken. I really enjoy this Tomoki Misato's works because of the clever use of metaphors.

  • The sad thing is that the girlfriend was JUST LIKE the girls he kept staring at, beautiful and cheery and keeping up conversation! She seemed fun to be with! But basically the instant she got upset at him literally neglecting her, the boyfriend immediately started viewing her as an uncontrollable snake monster and started chasing another girl in his mind's eye. Forget the *phone metaphor,* _this is just how women are treated in general._ That brown haired lady woulda "become a snake monster" too had she stayed with him like he dreamt about. Bc he blames the women for his failing relationships like a true narcissist... And it's EXTREMELY rare for a narcissist to come out the other side like boyfriend ultimately does. *Edit:* Bc some of yall have egos more brittle than the stale vanilla wafers I ate this morning and the reading comprehension of a 1yo, the point of my comment isn't "all men are narcissistic women-hating pigs lol", it's "many women are perceived as 'snake monsters' once their legitimate emotions become weaponized against them". I threw in the narcissist line bc this is *exactly* what *all* narcissists do in relationships regardless of gender, blame the failings on anyone but themselves. My mom displays narcissistic traits towards me, it's just a Thing. The boyfriend is on a path to blame all the women in his life for his failings because he *just so happens to be a man* and (seemingly) *straight.* Blame the writer and not me for that if you're somehow offended, *I* didn't choose these kids' presenting genders. TLDR? _Calm the hell down._ lmao *Edit 2:* _You kids still ain't calmed down??_ What _is it_ that people like to tell women, uhhhh... Stop getting so easily offended? It's just a joke? Triggered lol? Are none of those working? Awww... I'm sorry :(

    • @@jormungandrouroboros4571 Yes, narcissists can be any gender. But my main point wasn't "lol narcissist man", my point is that the girlfriend did indeed have all the proper qualities, but ultimately her legitimate upset was unfairly weaponized against her. And my point would still stand in any relationship as long as the 'snake monster' was a woman or otherwise femme presenting. I know this phenomenon to be true from years of 'SJW' compilations, people telling me to "stop being offended" when I offer counterpoints without even feeling remotely angry, or assuming that I'm on my period (again, just for standing up for myself), the phenomenon of "female hysteria" that was commonplace until not that long ago and fuels medical sexism today, the angry, firery black/Latina women stereotypes that are persistent in media and make it even *harder* for woc to stand up for themselves without being seen as "too angry", and people like you, who take my legitimate point and turn it into "She's speaking about a bad thing that happens to women! That means she's talking shit about men!!" Which, ironically, *has* made me tired of men after decades of having to explain myself over and over again just to get some basic fckin bodily autonomy against men who never listen to me anyway, make my points for women all about themselves to protect their fragile egos, and in doing so narrow down all my legitimate points to "man hater SJW" and don't even take me seriously by offering a proper counteraegument. Many *have* seen me as a sort of 'snake monster' for this. All this, and much more, is how I know.

    • @@donelkingii3738 Why on earth would you choose to keep going out with a girl and not break up if you don't even like her? Also, I hate to be the one to tell you this, but since you seem to dehumanize women based on their level of attractiveness.... men don't even bother grooming themselves to the extent that women do... and it REALLY shows.

      @victoriapulcifer6218@victoriapulcifer6218 Жыл бұрын
    • @@victoriapulcifer6218 See, this is exactly why people like you (not necessarily women, could be anyone) aren't taken seriously, and I mean from people, not from men alone: you talk out of being hurt, taking general stuff on a very personal level, your talk is totally emotionally driven, and people have an hard time giving credibility to someone who throws a temper tantrum, especially when they speak with an arrogant attitude and make absolute claims about things. You know who else does this? The incels, the hardcore anti-sjws and so on. To my view, you and them are two sides of the same coin; one difference is that they're more motivated by anger/frustration, instead for your group it's more paranoia, you think everyone is out to get you, but let me tell you, normal men don't care about oppressing/silencing women, they wouldn't get anything out of it, they only want to be acknowledged, understood and not be invalidated just because of their gender, exactly the same as women, we're not that different. I believe there are positive and negative characteristics from both masculinity and femininity: one positive concept of masculinity is not to let your emotions control you and affect your rational reasonment. This doesn't mean you can't be emotionally invested in something, but that's a lot different than feeling righteous and entitled to give pissed of, accusing talks. Now this concept could be integrated with the feminine one of being in touch with your emotional inner self, you see where I'm hinting at? Everyone should learn from only the positive things of each gender. I don't get why you went over that rant filled with political rhetoric, probably to show yourself as morally conscious and of course to invoke the victim status that would justify your attitude and supposedly make you the righteous one in this discussion, in virtue of being the offended party. You mention a lot your legitimate points being dismissed or invalidated: I don't know your life experiences so I can't say anything there, but I have the impression you take simple criticism or confrontation like a maliciously intended attempt to bring you down, which could be the case, but to think it's always like that is kind of paranoid. Again, most people don't have an interest in harming or subdueing you personally, some people just like to talk and discuss things civilly, like me for example. So according to you men (I assume a great number of) have dismissed your arguments for decades, saw you as too eager and angry in your talks, and assumed you were just hating on men: please don't mind my silly question but... have you ever wondered why? Have you ever thought that maybe their reactions weren't due to your points of argument, but rather the way you expressed yourself? I can only speak for myself, but by your first comment alone I could already sense the condescending and accusing tone towards men masked as speaking for women. By the way, I'm not the one egocentrically making this about men, you're the one doing that, but it's only logical I'd say, because if you speak about women socially that's inherently in opposition to men, otherwise you would be talking about people in general. I love when you people use the "lol such fragile ego" mocking, when you're literally the ones getting offended at the slightest things. Also it's ironic you accused me of thinking "She's speaking about a bad thing that happens to women! That means she's talking shit about men!!" when that's literally what you did in your first comment, talking shit about the boyfriend by making all sorts of demonizing assumptions, and then going on about how he represents the narcisistic male who pushes the guilt onto women. Like, ok, it could be an interpretation of this short, but a very far fetched one in my opinion, cause with all probability its point wasn't to protray narcisistic men; you're the one twisting it to fit your narrative of women victimization. Now, before you pull the sexism card and try claim that victimhood advantage, even though it's up to you to believe me or not, I can assure you I wrote this comment thinking of you as a person, before than as a woman. I would probably have argued the same points in the same way with anyone else, because I believe in treating everyone equally, thus I don't see the point of reserving a special treatment to women in discussions, I don't talk to them differently than as I would with men.

And as you saw at the first part of the film, the hamster aka the phone was eating up their happiness in their relationship. The girl gets angry since the boy isn’t paying attention to her but the phone, so she throws it away. Even when seeing she is hurt he picks up his phone and runs to the bathroom. It takes him a few seconds to realize he had made a mistake. At the end he puts his phone down and apologizes. She accepts and they end with a hug 🤗

  • This really blew my mind, and I love how it tricked me in the beginning lol. Making me think the girlfriend is super needy, clingy, wanting everything to be about her, but it she wasn’t like that. The whole situation wasn’t what I thought it was. Hell, just realizing the guinea pig was the guy’s phone the whole time is mind blowing. He kept petting it with one finger cuz he’s swiping through it, the guy put it away in his lap after the girl kept gesturing to her to focus more on her, and the girl getting her finger bit by the guinea pig is her slicing her finger on the crack on his phone. The details (On top of everything else)… So good ✨

  • I love how the guy sees the phone as this hamster, which is a living thing. It is like this phone is another life in which he lives through and feels attacked when his girlfriend from his actual life starts to “abuse“ it. Then we see it is actually a phone and indeed not a livibg thing teaching us to value our real lives and not spin in a constant circle (like a hamster wheel) for a life on a mere screen. Beautiful message ❤
