BRITAIN'S 600 YEAR OLD CROOKED HOUSE// In this video, we'll meet the fascinating owners of Britain's 600-year-old wonkiest house. Alex & Oli have been living in the medieval Crooked House in Lavenham since 2021 and tell us all about its fascinating history and what it feels like to live in a 600 years old house. The Crooked House is one of the most photographed houses in the world and if you plan a visit to Lavenham, you must book a house tour (or one of the other amazing events) of the Crooked House as it's so fascinating. You will love it so much. In this video you will also learn whether the Crooked House is haunted or not. Enjoy! Kirsten & Joerg

  • I spent the first 40 years of my life going to Lavenham for Christmas every year as my grandmother lived in the Market Square next to the Guildhall. As you visualised, it was the most magical place at Christmas time. I had my 21st birthday party in the Guildhall. Loved your beautiful video which has brought back may wonderful and happy memories.

And then capitalism found it and it became endless Tesco's and Kentucky fried chicken and McDonald's... So sad, but I am so privileged to have known it when it was pure and magical...

  • Our English towns and villages are so special, as are the people who live in them. They are under serious threat from developers and councils all over England who are forcing new-build estates in their thousands. I pray we never lose our history and our lovely villages, once gone we can never get them back. I hope videos like this highlight how these places must be preserved. Beautiful video guys ❤

    • Me too. We have those huge new-built estates and when we viewed houses saw that they are often the worst quality (sadly).

    • @@KirstenJoergThat's because they have to meet deadlines, and the work is shoddy. I've worked in construction on new properties that haven't been around that long. And I've found faults in every home. I'd never buy a new home or even rent. Not worth the hassle of problems throughout including outside the properties I've also had to deal with uh uh.

      @greywebs1944@greywebs19448 ай бұрын
    • @@greywebs1944 not just the quality it’s the quantity. Theres something special about living in a small village or town. People know each other and families that go back generations. When hundreds of new people are thrown into the mix in one go, it totally alters the character of the place.

    • Thank you, Kirsten and Joerg, for another wonderful video! The Crooked House - its history, and the house itself, is positively extraordinary! Lavenham must be known for its crooked houses, as the town surely owns bragging rights to more than just the one. It's easy to understand why the town was used not once, but twice, as the backdrop for two of the Harry Potter movies. It has lovely charm, and is richly steeped in history . If, or when I ever get back to England, I'll be sure to visit Lavenham, and The Crooked House! Thank you both, again... You've made my day !

How wonderful to be able to walk the streets and see really lived in houses. There's a warmth there that you can not find in a housing development! Thank you very much for the opportunity to see this marvelous place. The Crooked House is exquisite!🎃🌠🐈‍⬛📚🌙🫖🦢

So etwas findet man selten.

  • Being an American, it blows my mind to see such history. 629 year old home! Wouldn’t it be amazing if photos existed of the home from the beginning until today? I once learned on a video that these many homes in the UK where the 2nd story has a larger footprint than the first floor was done for lower property taxation which was based of dimensions of the structures footprint. Also, to stay proper distance from the street both based on lower level only.

  • That village is absolutely gorgeous and the crooked house is amazing. My father would recite the poem when I was growing up therefor I just had to go visit while staying with my cousin nearby. The crooked man was actually known as the village crook. That’s why he was so rich. 😂

  • Gosh what a lovely video and so evocative of the olden times where magic was in the air and poets were abounding! I was brought up on poetry and stories so this took me back to childhood memories round our old Tudor fireplace in the 50’s with singing round the piano, board games and story telling . A simple and magical time i was fortunate to have and your video gave me that same beautiful gentle feeling. Thankyou Kirsten and Joerg for your efforts and sweetness. The world is better place with your in it❤

  • You two really bring us to the best places, this was such a charming visit. I'm a firm believer in our angels looking over us, Alex & Oli's made sure they got the crooked house. I wonder if they've looked into everyone who lived there and where visitors. Just has me wondering if their own ancestors where there, over 600 yrs, there's been a lot of people thru their door. Lastly, I see you guys have 38K new subscribers already, good for you, I'm sure they're loving going where you take us.

I always check a map to see where you are each vlog. You are far from home this time. Alex and Oli are great hosts and tell a great story about the origins of the crooked house. I sure do remember that children’s rhyme. Thank you again for taking us along on yet another wonderful vlog.

  • 600 years old? Wow! I don't think there are over 600 years old buildings in the USA, at least in PA. I am aware there are ancient buildings in UK/Europe. Even though, I am not a fan of medieval buildings, but this is nice! Lol, I was planning to ask if it is haunted. I am so fascinated with paranormal, etc. The owners seem nice and awesome. Looks like it is your first interview with the owners of the buildings, your other videos are just of you two give a tour of each room, etc. You two did a good job on the interview and filming.
