Here are three reasons why Diana (the Queen of Goosebumps) doesn't sound human. First, she is a contralto, which is the absolute rarest type of female voice. It allows her to sing very dramatic/powerful, very (I mean VERY) deep, very dark, very rich. Second, she has a spectacular larynx. She's been called the vocal Eighth Wonder of the World. Third, she is polyphonic, which means she can produce multiple harmonics within her voice at the same time. This is what allows her to sound like two people at once. (more below) When you add all that up you basically get a person who creates her own auto-tune. She doesn't need electronic auto-tune. She IS her own auto-tune. And the effect when you hear her is totally mind-blowing. It's like she's singing right through you, like a sword straight into your soul. Literally NOBODY else on the planet has a voice like hers. She's not one in a million, she's one in eight billion. Having watched well over 100 initial reactions to her, only one did NOT say she was "unique".

Greetings from Scotland! Welcome to the realm of the queen of Goosebumps guys! Only 18yo here! Diana is 20yo currently but I've been following her career since she was around 13yo. Diana is a natural Dramatic Contralto so the lower registers are her comfort zone but she has increased her range even more since this. She also naturally sings with polyphonic overtones so it sounds like many voices at the same time! Any song, any genre, in any language, Diana can sing it and improve it! You need a little back story to understand what helped "create" this unique phenomenon:- Diana's birthmother had multiple miscarriages but when Diana came along, she seemed to hate her. She verbally and physically abused her, trying to drown her and belittle her. It all culminated when (at 3yo) a passing relative found her in her home with a broken collarbone and several other injuries. She went for the authorities who removed Diana from her birthmothers care and placed her in an orphanage. For almost 2 years Diana never gave up hope and she knew that she was meant for something better. (This story is in her Wikipedia entry) Finally her new mother (Irina Ponik, who worked as a masseuse there occasionally) Signed her adoption papers and took her home. She vowed to pay Irina back for her kindness. Irina had a real struggle because Diana had obviously been badly affected by the experiences and at 5yo, she had a very bad stammer. It was recommended that she be taken for singing lessons to help this and immediately it was recognised that Diana had perfect pitch and an excellent ear for music and songs. 1 year later, at 6yo, Diana was performing solo on stage! This young unique phenomenon sang everywhere and anywhere she could, working constantly to earn money for the family who rescued her. September 25, 2021. This was 18 year old Diana Ankudinova's the first performance on a new Russian vocal competition called the “ShowMaskGoOn!”. Diana’s opening cover of 9 songs on this TV show (I'd argue this isn't even her best song of this show). Diana has been known as The Queen of goosebumps for half a decade and she's still only 20. Her cover of Wicked Game at 15 years old live on Russian TV is equally as epic, dark, atmospheric and unique...it's a must watch.
My favourite vocalist ever. The song was limited to 2 minutes in this competition.

Wonderful reaction! Diana is called The Queen Of Goosebumps. This performance was from a Russian show that aired in the fall of 2021, and ran for 9 weeks. Diana was 18 at this time. There were 9 singers who were also the judges and critiqued each other. There were 9 genres of music they had to perform over the course of the show. Thus Diana sang in many different styles. Diana is 15 years old in the following video, singing a cover of Chris Isaak's Wicked Game, giving it a more "tribal" sound. She's a contralto, even at the age of 15, has a unique and otherworldly voice, and a commanding stage presence. She is performing on the Russian TV show You Are Super, a show for disadvantaged children to display their talents that they otherwise would not be able to. Diana (dee-ah-na) was abandoned by her abusive mother at the age 3 and placed in an orphanage, diagnosed with cognitive impairment. Her adoptive mother had her enroll in singing lessons to help with some speech problems due to abuse and neglect. Go back to the 14to15 year old Diana and here here do wicked Game, Rechenka and last Dance ..in French .. some of the Russian tracks are a little much for contemporary Western ears ..like Onery Horses. She is however a unique natural phenomena ... from latervin.this same show I would recommend Crow.. You have just listened to a true contralto with possibly multi-tonal qualities.. “Diana Ankudinova, A Russian National Treasure” (My opinion), I have been following her for a while. She is another very interesting story that you will discover. Wait until you hear “Wicked Games”, “Take On Me”, "Human" or "Rechenka" Even though it is in Russian you still feel the emotion behind it. I've heard her sing in Russian, English, French, German, Arabic and Spanish so far. No matter what language it is beautiful.
Sorry for the length of this comment, but there is a lot of background information along with specific information about Diana Ankudinova and this performance. This was a vocal competition called the “ShowMaskGoOn”, she was invited to compete on when she was years old. This competition was held over a nine week period and televised one episode per week starting on September 25, 2021 until the Season finale on November 20, 2021. Diana competed against 8 other professional singers, and when you include Diana, the numbers of singer's totaled 9. Also, all contestants were members of the judging panel. During each individual performance, they awarded judging points to each other, but could not award judging points to themselves. Each singer was required to perform a different song during each of the nine weeks, and each song had to use a different genre and a different style of music. The first of the 9 songs Diana performed was her cover of the Elvis Presley classic “Can’t Help Falling In Love”. This performance demonstrated what many vocal professionals had previously speculated since she competed on the “Show Must Go On” competition and performed “Rechenka”, a Russian folk song she sang in her native Russian when she was 14 years old. Diana Ankudinova was no longer developing into a Contralto, this performance shoes she is now a true contralto voice type, For those that may not know, a Contralto is the lowest kind of female voice, and a true contralto is very, very rare. Diana opens “Can’t Help Falling In Love”, in her low, deep, rich, and resonant contralto voice. During past interviews Diana has said she was not happy with her lack of a higher vocal range, and that kept her out of the more prestigious Russian music academies. She decided, along with her voice teacher to concentrate on improving and extending her upper range. Now to answer the second most commonly asked question about Diana’s voice, her vocal range. Vocal range is one of many points used in defining a singer's voice type. At age 13, when she competed on “The Voice Kids Russia” in 2017, her vocal range was measured from a low of D3 to a high of A5, she was in a solid Alto range, but it was still quite low for a 13 year old girl. In 2021, 5 years later at age 18, during her “ShowMaskGoOn” performance of “Can’t Help Falling In Love”, Diana’s vocal range was again measured. Her vocal range now measures from a low of C3 (male tenor range) to a high of B♭5 (Mezzo Soprano range). The improvement and extension of her upper range is also on full display during the middle part of this performance. But it's not just how high or low she can go, it's the exceptional quality of her tone in both her upper and lower registers. It’s her ability to transition seamlessly between her lower, mid, and upper registers. It's in her timbre, the roundness, fullness, and depth of her voice. It’s her ability to create, access, and use an enormous amount of resonance that define Diana as a “Dramatic Contralto” which is the deepest, darkest, and most powerful contralto voice type, and is the rarest of the rare contralto voice types. The depth and power of her full Dramatic Contralto chest voice is on full display during the final section of her performance. So the question becomes, how does she do it? How can this young female singer achieve the low, round, rich, deep, resonant, and profound sounds we hear? Without scoping her vocal tract while she is producing these low notes to actually see what is or is not happening, we can only speculate. The general conciseness of many vocal professionals seems to attribute Diana’s unique vocal ability to her winning the genetic lottery, meaning Diana was just born with her unique vocal anatomy. Diana’s vocal folds, (vocal cords), appear to be longer and thicker than the vast majority of female singers.
