If he treated nfl players like this, imagine how badly he treated college kids.
That is what pisses me off the most. I feel sorry for those young kids having to experience someone like him.
Harbaugh coaching for the niners ran into similar issues and its why he was pushed out be our owner even with all his success. People don't remember how many injuries and how burned out our team was. We had a lot of players retire early. He treated players like they were college kids he could burn out for a couple years.

The more I hear about Meyer and his conduct, the more repellent he seems. Arrogant, abusive, incompetent, totally full of himself, and a petty dictator. I'm glad he can't get away from the image he created as the monumental flop in Jacksonville. There's some justice in that.
Yeah, but you know how this works. Some desperate college program will rehire him as head guy in a few years. Because at way too many places, winning is more important than basic human decency.

when Michigan couldn't end up hiring Urban Meyer back in 2011, I remember being pissed about how they couldn't land him looks like they dodged a MASSIVE bullet. Granted Urban obliterated Michigan for a solid decade when he was coaching over at Columbus, but in a way i'm glad they never got stuck with this jerk

I graduated from the U of Utah and lived in SLC for a few years after while Meyer was coach and we all had no idea what a jerk he actually was. Social media has changed the game of outing people's poor decisions, bad behavior and stupid quotes that were previously in the past easier to bury away from the general public.

That will probably change in spades this year. Organizational culture matters alot and obviously it was toxic while meyer was there for sure. That had to be a tough introduction to the NFL for Trevor - he's really a class act - he kept a good attitude. Excited to see what he and the team does this season!
Not saying he can't improve bc he was a rookie last year but his decision making and ability to read the defense was terrible. I've only been surprised by one qb in the last 20 years not being what I thought they were at the start and that's Josh Allen.

It was weird how we won more games than in 2020, yet it still felt like a worse season. Fucking embarrassing. I'm rarely a fan of firing a coach after just one season, but Meyer richly deserved it. Hopefully Pederson will be the guy for us, but even if he's not, he'll look like the Messiah next to Urban Meyer.
Even after last year, I still think 2011 was the worst season we ever had. They even won 5 games that year. Just goes to show that even winning mediocrely can be terrible.
And either weirder, Urban won against the Bills, and Bevell won the last game against the Colts, so thats two amazing wins in an awful season

Indeed. In the handful of post game interviews I saw, he struck me as keeping a good perspective, handling a bad situation and overall showing nice maturity. I would be shocked if he doesn't improve quite a bit this year.
That's a good point. I don't know how talented TL truly is or how successful he will be, but at least he remained calm and cool through a crazy situation. That says something very good about his character, leadership skills, and potential success.

It's definitely out there. But you have to dig deep since it's been so long. Fans of sec schools can probably remember alot of the old dirt from Florida before he retired the first time only to return to Ohio state, once problems started rising there he had his heart attacks and retired yet again. The only Difference now is that these guys are all professional paid athletes and they don't have to risk their million dollar hopes for letting the cat out of the bag like college players woukd have to consider.

I had a coach in high school who worked at Notre Dame with Meyer was there in the 80's. He said that Urban Meyer was the shadiest guy he had ever met in his entire life. When I reconnected with that coach 10-15 years down the road, towards the end of Meyer's tenure at Ohio State, he said "maybe he's gotten better, but I still stand by that statement."

As a guy who works for just north of 15$ an HR, that was the most laughable thing I have ever heard. We would literally hire a cardboard box if it could fill out an application and wear the uniform.

I think Trevor Lawrence is a good person but I’ve never seen his elite status that everyone sees.He was horrible against LSU in the National Championship game.I love the Doug Pederson move and I do think he will give Trevor every opportunity to be a success in the NFL.
Look, I'm not saying urban Meyer is a class act. A lot of college coaches fail in the NFL. But to call him a fraud is ridiculous. And this is coming from a Seminole fan who lives in MI. He is a top 3 college coach and any school besides maybe Georgia, Alabama, Clemson would hire him tomorrow if he wanted to coach

He's the one who recruited, hired, then empowered Meyer. It's not like Meyer was some random, anonymous, obscure coach. He was a known commodity -- and yet Khan went ahead and handed him the keys. Yes, Urban Meyer was a fraud. But at least he's gone. Shad Khan is still there showing terrible judgment and making horrible decisions. Who gets to sue him?
