It’s nice to have a proper Slaughter episode that’s not about war, again. Grifter’s Bone is one of my favorite episodes from TMA, so them having an equivalent in this universe made me oddly happy. lol I’m guessing that the artifact merchant will be coming up again at some point. He seems possibly Eye aligned, due to how the statement giver was surprised at how much he told the merchant, paired with mentions of his “unwavering gaze”. But, that’s purely speculation at this point… Also, a new great line that will stick with me: “The blood for its strings need not be your own.” Not quite as chilling as “The blanket never did anything,” but still great! 😁

  • So we're all in agreement that the Hungry Violin is aligned with the Slaughter (not exactly subtle) and that the stranger the man met in the woods was an avatar of the Eye? He asked a simple questioned and got the guy's entire life story with a candour (honesty) that surprised himself. Seems like this avatar is filling a similar role to Breekon and Hope or Mikaele Salesa.

    @dragonicdoom3772@dragonicdoom37723 ай бұрын
    • You raise a good point regarding the strange man, but if he is an Eye avatar, I'm rather stumped as to why he would go about handing out various artifacts, essentially recruiting to other powers. With Breekon and Hope, their specific fear as part of the Stranger was "what's in the box" so it made sense why they'd carry about all sorts of spooky objects. Maybe this person delivers things based on what he _sees_ deep inside you?

I’ve got two theories: one she’s around but since she wasn’t in the panopticon, she didn’t end up in the same place as Jon, Martin and Jonah. Or, just like the other avatars such as Simon, she didn’t transfer anywhere. The web *compelled* her to help open the universes gate then discarded her.

Also love the thought that the web compelled her On another note, could this be another universe that could hear the tapes? Hopefully we get mention of them being found that would be awesome. Jonah died, Jon died and Martin blew up just seconds before it all ended and they got teleported. I think that because of some fear shenanigans they just lost their human bodies, maybe along with their humanity, and got transported to the weird computer that cannot get updated because reasons. and I think, but that’s a stretch, that the tmp government knew about the rift, the fears, the portal etc, and that they got the oldest computer system known to man so that the “trio” cannot get out and cause trouble or something. idk, its a reach and a half as I said and a very half baked theory lmao

  • Spoilers my dude don't read if you haven't listened. Okay so Jhester- Curiosity and the dangers of following it? Maybe statements very specifically related to the archives? I need to hear the funny mans voice to get a clearer idea though. But I think Jhester E-Sim is *probably* focusing in on knowledge bc...eyebawl.. Nartin- Statements related to lost loved ones or losing loved ones. Along with a feeling of isolation (The Doctor dude talked about needing to put time aside for his probably dead partner or they'd drift apart, the mourner didn't want to be alone at the end of their statement but realistically ig there's also the sense of being unsafe that could contribute to that. The Isolation concept is me stretching things a bit. JUGUSTUS- Actual statements? Alternative/origins of things from TMA? This feels very close to Grifter's bone but I'd need to relisten since I don't think they were a classical band. They were some rock band in TMA's verse right? Maybe Old historical records since they get picked up apparently. Who knows. Also just gonna shotgun this idea and say Gwen isn't Elias but might be a sibling or cousin or something. Idk maybe something else happened to OG Elias here. (Which would be funny and a little sad. Dude straight up CANNOT catch a break. Im so sorry OG Elias that the universe said fuck you to you specifically. Not once but Twice) I think the fact that a sort of standout statement from Jons was how Canaries should stay above ground. Martins is not living without someone and Jonah (bc lets be real this is probably Jonah.) Jonah forces on some eldritch spooky shit to a person, similar to how Elias sort of ..unwillingly passed on being the pupil of the eye?? + Manipulated Jon into being an avatar in the same way the uncle is sort of- in a way forcing the evil violin onto his nephew?? Or how He yanked out his eyes and shoved them into OG Elias's head?? I feel like there's something there.

    @pyrosianheir@pyrosianheir3 ай бұрын
    • I rly wanna know as well. For now it seems that the protocol is activated when whatever incident, after assessed, is deemed a current threat and then the gov sends that PMC to deal with it, just like the police had the special little "department" in TMA. Proper SCP kinda stuff lol. Iirc it was said at some point that the police girl (forgot her name) that was taken by the Hunt wasnt the only one in the deparment, right? A lot of them over the years became Hunt obsessed or am i wrong? So can you imagine if that PMC is comprised of a bunch of Slaughter obsessed freaks, basically a Slaughter cult? Fuck if that is the case i wanna design them so badly. I hope that when they show up theyre just the most unhinged maniacs. Also, this is an alternate universe to the original TMA, right? Like John and Martin and Magnus all got zapped there and are somehow the computer voices? That would make it so the Magnus of this universe is not the same as the one we know + Gwen Bouchard woudnt be related to our dear Elias at all, but she seems to kbow something, theres something deeper about her anger about Alice giving them names. But im starting to think its the somehow the same universe and people dont seem to remember the 'Eyepocalypse', cuz damn 20 years is a short time everyone would know about the apocalypse if they remembered so its weird they dont mention it or dont know the Institute, etc.

      @lovebunny2652@lovebunny26523 ай бұрын
    • @lovebunny2652 There were other Sectioned officers being shady beyond Daisy, yes, though I'd guess it isn't incredibly common for them to be touched by the Hunt. And this is definitely a different universe. The Eyepocalypse happened around the same time as season 5 starting for us, so it wouldn't be 20-30 yrs past. So, while Gwen isn't directly related to Elias, there's every possibility that she's just a branched timeline where he's a she, and FAR more driven than our poor pothead. Or, heck, maybe they'll really catch us off guard and have her be the daughter of this universe's Elias and he was killed in her life... at the Institute.

    @shalak26@shalak263 ай бұрын
  • ok so i think it is clear that this is the new world that all the fears got taken to. escpally since we know the magnus archives got burnt down in the 90s. the violin seems very grifters bone/the bagpipes of war. im wondering if thats cause its this worlds versions of those items. or if they are the same items dragged in. or maybe the fears just found new items in this world to fill the same role. and since its so close to both grifters bones and the pipes maybe that means sorten fears are working closer together or are fused somehow

    @animeshowfan8145@animeshowfan81453 ай бұрын
    • I think it’s almost certain that fears here are more intertwined. Imo the painter was flesh+stranger+eye(the cameras and the fact the tattoo artists wanted her to tell them about her life), the garden was corruption+flesh+possibly slaughter(?), this contained eye+slaughter+references to other fears with the merchant objects, etc. Let’s not forget the fears are all parts of a bigger entity like Leitner said in tma Also, I find a big difference is that here the protagonists od the statements are not helpless victims like in tma, they are actively looking for something and are answered by fears, and even if they are scared they also quite enjoy the consequences

  • spoilers for TMA !!! my current theory on the computer voices :) So I think if Jonah, Jon, and Martin are all truly in the computer, they're all trying to communicate something. They only read specific texts, and it seems (so far) each one has described their own feelings about their past lives. They read the statements that they can relate to. But I think it goes even farther than that. They have to have some kind of reason for it. I think hidden even farther is a message they're trying to give to the employees. It seems as though after Sam was hired, the voices have been coming out more. At the same time, Sam seems to have some kind of connection to the Magnus Institute, and is the only one out of all the employees actually trying to investigate the statements, rather than just file them away. It seems to me that our trio has realized this, and hope by reading the statements out to Sam, they will finally get through to someone in the physical world. The question I have now is: What are they trying to say? They have to communicate through statements. They can't add random words, so they have to try and convey what they want through what's already given to them. "In its celestial strains I have found solace, a sanctuary woven from ethereal threads. And perhaps you shall find similar..." I find this sentence especially interesting. It's obvious that if this is Jonah, he would encourage the employees to try to rise to the top as he did. Jon and Martin, on the other hand, would try to warn them of the dangers surrounding their job. It makes sense that so far, Jon and Martin have voiced statements about regret, guilt, pain and suffering, while Jonah has chosen to read a statement about an avatar fulfilling his "calling." Jon and Martin have only voiced statements from victims while Jonah reads statements of the perpetrators. Jonah's voice seems to be rare because of this, since even in TMA, an avatar's statement was rare. It's also worth noting that the statements Jon and Martin voice are genuinely terrifying, often spooking the employees into taking a break, while Jonah's statement wasn't that scary, as if he's chosen a statement that sugarcoats the truth. Also, something sent an email to the wrong person, but it was probably on purpose. I theorize it was Jon and Martin trying to get Alice to stop Sam from prying further. It's very interesting that directly afterwards, Jonah decides to read this statement, almost as if trying to convince him to keep going. I think Jon and Martin are probably fine with being stuck in the computer, just trying to help and warn the employees, possibly trying to make them quit, while Jonah probably wants to get out. The only way to do that is with an employee's help, so he's trying to coax one (either Sam or Gwen?) into doing his bidding. Which also ties into my previous theory, when an email is sent to Gwen about Lena... It seems Jonah is targeting yet another Bouchard...

Had this been in the TMA universe I would say the slaughter and the flesh, but I think that categorizing the fears in this universe, or even trying to is missing the point. My going theory now is that there is no way to categorize them, or that they haven’t been. The fears in TMA “split” from one entity into 14 when thing could feel more complicated fears, but what would happen if they never spilt in the first place. I’m wondering if the fears in this universe haven’t “split”, at least not as cleanly as they did in TMA. It also bares mentioning that the fears were all bleeding into each other TMA, but they at least seemed a little defined. Would love to hear other peoples theories!
