Making a wooden sidecar with an awesome paint job for my bike

In this video, I'm going to use up the scraps in my shop to make a wooden sidecar for my bike. This project was so much work, but it definitely payed off because it looks awesome, works great, and the dogs like it too. Thanks for watching!

Having ridden my Ural motorcycle for years with my dogs who basically grew up in it, I applaud you for your build. Not sure I would have chosen all wood, myself, due to the heaviness of it, but I have won all sorts of trophies over the years, even when my hack was totally dirty and when sitting right next to some $30-40,000 Harley rig in competition. How is that, you ask? Girls love dogs in sidecars! Men love dogs in sidecars! Kids love dogs in sidecars! Dogs love dogs in sidecars! This reminds me of when my cousin built his Soap Box Derby racer back when I was a teen. (I am now 73, so that has been quite a while back). I was always, always impressed with that machine and it later gave rise to my long history of having antique cars, vintage bikes, my sidecar rig and now, so motorized bikes for fun. You have a great talent and a great dog! Congrats on the build, as it looks great. My last remaining sidecar pal had to be put down this past weekend, due to liver problems and diabetes. She will always be in my heart and the memories of her will be mine forever more. Those types of dogs are buddies, pals, friends & confidants like no other.

OMG. I'm only 2 minutes into the video and I have to comment. Your sense of time is top shelf. Never waiver. I wish more people of all ages had your vision to see what you want and plan the steps to get there. Thumbs up. Stay the course and never let anyone stop you or slow you down.

Great to see a youngster getting practical with tools, too many kids don't. But watch those fingers, use push sticks, clamps etc so as not too be to close to a blade or kick back, and not in direct line of cut in front or behind. Good effort.

That was an awesome build Drew. That is how I got started. Pretty soon you will be building custom furniture and cabinetry. Sky is the limit. You designed it, built it and it was functional.

Young man all I can say is WELL DONE! That was amazing. I was thinking about my bike and a side car because my dog broke his back and post recovery this would be wonderful - to just ride my bike slowly around the neighborhood. Should've made it in2 a mold, got some fiberglass sheets, some woven glass mats, a few pc's of wood, a few jugs of resin, MEK 2 kick off the resin & some spring rollers 2 roll the bubbles out with. The finished project would've been a ton lighter! But good job on the project ya did do

Awesome job! Next time you might want to consider building the sides/top out of foam strips and a layer of fiberglass to save some weight.

Very good young man! Who taught you how to use all the tools? If it was your Dad, you are blessed to have him as a mentor. As for your creativity, that's something no one can teach, it's a gift. I'm making one for our youngest 2 grandkids. They're 2 years old this month and my wife (and I) are the day care. I'll heed your advice at the end... and also, I will be using an ebike!

That is so cool. The best wood is free scrap wood. I think you did a great job on you design. I am a little concerned about the weight. Your skill to get the shape that you wanted is great. I do not think that I could do as good of a job as your did. Like a true engineer, you are thinking of how to do it better. I have a small CNC plasma cutter. I design and make metal art. I used to work in a small steel fabrication shop. Based on your skills, I think that you will do well in what ever kind of work that you choose. You also did a nice job on the video. 👍👍👍👍👍😃😃😃
