  • The pin in the drawer, which comes out when you turn it upside down does make sense because when you turn the whole box upside down all the pins would be in the "solution position" (flush with the top of the box). The pin in the drawer then comes out and prevents you from pulling the drawer out. It's basically an anti-cheat pin.

  • 10:48 It very much makes sense, because if the 5th pin was not there all you would have to do to open the box is turn it upside down. The 5th pin stops that from happening. When you turn it upside down all 4 pins retract, but the 5th pin engages, so it doesn't open.

And just like the other pins, the front pin in the pull-out drawer is to prevent the unaware from flipping it upside down and opening it without first solving it. It also helps that I've watched enough Chris Ramsay videos to know what to expect from certain puzzle designs

  • The outside knob should have had a hole 3/4 of the way through it for the 'latch pin' to slide into so that if the pin were holding the box closed when upside down, rotating the hole in the front knob would 'lock' the box no matter which way you turned it. Unlocking would require not only finding the magnetic pieces and putting them in place but also rotating the front knob to release the 'latch pin' into that hole.

  • The extra pin is to stop the draw from opening when you turn it upside down. i.e. If you turn it upside down the locking pins will slide into the open state and the draw would be able to be opened. But, with the fifth pin when you turn it upside down it will fall into the locking state and prevent you from opening the draw. BTW: Thank you. I always enjoy watching you solve all these puzzles that I cannot afford to buy myself.

  • regarding the pin in the front that you did not understand what was it for. The 4 magnetic pin when not magnetized they are probably free to move, meaning that if you flip the box upside down they all flip out of the way. The front pin act as the lock when the box is upside down so that you cannot bypass the mecanism.
