Learn how to graph the equation of a circle by completing the square. Completing the square will allow us to transform the equation of a circle from general form to standard form. When the equation is in standard form we can identify the center and radius of the circle to graph to then graph the circle.

do you have another example of finding the center of a circle and radius that has odd numbers sir?
why can this dude teach me more in 5 minutes than my teacher can in a 50 minute period
online is awesome!
The truest comment ever
WavyJ SAME!! 😂
pretty easy bro, in school the most of the teachers do not care their the subject
because you actually want to learn
You have no idea how many college algebra students you are helping... big thanks!
just happy to be able to help
Your doing algebra in college....sad
Austin B. Lol I'm already doing this as a highschool freshman
Y O I N K Yeah that’s the level your suppose to be at. When you get to college you should be doing calculus
Hey man we all learn at different rate...just work hard at it
1:46 I hope Gavin really got this one
Samantha this is why I’m in the comment section
I hope I did
Gavin de Dios 😂
It's Kevin I think

This was made 4 years ago, yet you still comment to people even now. You are dedicated! I have never seen someone actually come back to a previous video made more that 6 months ago, that replies to their comments to help them. This is very appreciated and I will stick around on this channel. Have a good day!
I appreciate everyone that comments, I can't get to them all but try really hard everyday to make sure to respond
I have no idea why but how smoothly he writes like his marker is just floating over the whiteboard is oddly satisfying
FACTS
Don't mind me in the sea of comments, just an 11th grader appreciating all the work and effort you put into this so we can understand a fun subject made dull by disinterested teachers, Thank you for your help Mr.Brian!
You are very welcome!!!
Man this guy actually answers comments! What a Chad
7 years ago and this still helped me in 2020🥂 Thank you🙌🏾💯

Same here!!
2021 here
To me, in 2022
You can’t change math.
hey great to hear I have been able to help. All of my conics videos are labeled "Module I" I will have them all labeled in playlists soon but in the mean time you can search for those videos if you need or if you want to see more videos I have conic sections videos for pre-calculus labeled in playlists 10.2-10.4
Brian McLogan Sir i wanna learn more eventhough im not good at math
Thanks for this one sir..i learned a lot.
THIS IS SO MUCH BETTER THAN SITTING IN A 2 HOUR CLASS PRETENDING TO UNDERSTAND WHAT THE TEACHER IS SAYING
Bruh you really calling me out right now
love how straight forward and simple you teach!
I had Mr.McLogan as one of my teachers in high school (and wrestling/rugby coach) and he was by far one of my favorites. I have recently gone back to college and finding this video was a stroke of luck! Thanks for making this available it was great to learn from you then and it is awesome to still be able to use your videos for references!
I wish I had you as one of my teachers. Very easy to understand the way you teach. Thank you for being so passionate about what you do -- it shows!!!
i wish this guy is my teacher, learned a lot from him before my examination day
THANK YOU! I have a quiz tomorrow and this helped SO much
How he get the 25?
@@prettyboy9416 -10/2 simplifies to -5/1, when you square that it turns the negative to a positive equaling 25
This was made way long ago but hes still out here helping young minds this man helped me with so much i swear... thank you!
If this video or many others was helpful, please consider letting me know with a "Super Thanks" above ⬆. I am able to read and respond to all my messages and thank you so much for your support
Thanks from Mexico. 🤘
Super duper thanks!!!!

@@Islamicteachinggs yes, just a teachers mistake to see if ur paying attention lol 🤣 On the contrary, I just saw that u have to inverse it, similar to how u find x, so its that simple, inverse it

That should not be legal
Very simple explanation for something that can be perceive as complicated!! Thanks for the example!! Made my life easy!! Appreciate it!
Mr. Logan, i learned this stuff a long time ago in a galaxy far far away. Since then i have forgotten. Last time i used it was while studying for the PE exam more than a decade ago. Now i have to relearn for my daughter's PSAT prep. Thank you for teaching the material in such a way that an old timer like me can remember. I am sure i will be viewing more of your videos for the summer and the fall semester. Keep up the great work my friend!
this dude has the coolest teacher name i have ever heard of
Thank you so much! My professor doesn’t speak english very well and doesn’t explain things algebraically... so this is really helping!!
you're a better teacher than literally all of my math teachers I've had in my life. Thanks so much for the help!!
Thank you for literally posting free education. I owe you so much for what you have done for me. You are one of the best math teachers I have had. Thank you.
I really appreciate this video, especially of how you were able to explain the complete the square function. Simply dividing by two and figuring out the third number of the trinomial is SO much easier then when my college professor simply stares at an x2 binomial and simply says , " now what number do you think we should add to complete the square?" This is a life saver.
im in pre calc i swear my professor sounds like he speaks a different language teaching this
lol. Thanks
sameee quiz tomorrow and this helps big time
Ethan F how did you do
You do this in calculus?
@@lefthanded5473 You use this in calculus, but you won't learn it there.
It’s been 8 years and his help is still the best around. Now that is a great legacy. A few years from now I’ll still be watching his videos for help
you are such a help ! you make things so much clear & easy than my actual algebra teacher .
Thanks for the demonstration. I've been learning this equation of the circle quite quickly.
awesome! happy to help
Brian McLogan I have a few tutorials of my own on my channel. I'd love to hear your thoughts on them. When you have time that is. Thanks again for helping me remember the h, K and r of all these equations
I wasn't paying attention in our class the day it was taught and I have a quiz tomorrow so this just solved all my problems. Thank you!!
awesome! best of luck!

I’ve been struggling in my pre calculus class and this is the first time I actually understood it!😂 thank you so much! You explained it so well
such a great teacher, I have been watching his videos since forever and he's helped me a lot. Thank you
Lol with quarantine going on and online classes, my teacher is just sending me your videos so she doesn't have to teach anything. Nice work!
Good thing
HAHAHHAHAHA
Our teacher just sends PowerPoint slides it was so frustrating
Your explanation is amazingg🥺 I was struggling so much solving such problems in the SAT, but now I'm so flexible at solving. Thank you❤❤

I'm not doing this until next year in math class but I love maths so I've learnt it now :) Thanks for the help.

Very effective and understandable. Thanks!
I literally have a test in two hours and this saved my life.
College algebra ?
fascinatinglist yup
Wow, this was amazing. I guess he's teaching in a high school (because he is actually talking to the students), but this helped me a lot even in university. I wish my professors could be this good. This didn't take long but I learned a lot. My teachers are just rushing by with very little time, but they get less information and less education across in the same time as this man who is explaining everything, and doing so in a very good way. Helping me pass calculus from across the globe, you are a hero!
Awesome! love it!
Here I am in Calc. 3 still returning to this amazing channel. Thank you so much for all the good work you do!
10 years later, after studying with you during my middle and high-school, now i am studying for my uni test with your videos as well ❤️ I hope I can come here again during uni, you’re the best teacher out there for math
He just explained in 5 minutes what my teachers couldn't over the course of two lessons bruh
can u explain how can we factor it out if x^2 has a term
Divide *both* sides by the numerical coefficient of x^2 before completing the square.
@@evangelinetiapson9217 so we divide everything or just the x terms and the other side of the equation?
I have precalculus this year & im learning this rn and didn’t understand for days but I watched this video a couple times & it helped me so much
OMG literally only 1 minute in and I understand so much better! This might save my GCSE for Maths. Thank you!
Thanks! I live in Ukraine and I got this example! Thank you for explaining and helping!
you are very welcome! Happy to hear from you
Our teacher just shoves modules to us every week and now we have 13 lessons in total to study for our exams. Not to mention her modules sometimes have mistakes that she doesn't even correct and she doesn't explain how to do it. 🥰
Thank you so much! :D Couldn't have made it through my midterms without you!
I have my math final tomorrow and this has helped me greatly, thank you so much for the videos, you're a damn exemplary teacher
Who else is crying because they don't understand this and got all stressed out and is questioning why the frick there's so much workkk
An easier approach is to divide 4x and -10y by (-2).. you’ll get (-2,5). Then you square root (-2) squared plus (5) squared - (-7) which will give you 6. Square the 6 and you’ll get 36. Now just put them in your equation. So it’s gonna be (x+2) squared plus (y-5) squared equals to 36.
@@omarabdelbary8126 thankss
@@omarabdelbary8126 Where did you get the (-2)?
@Zhen In the method I use, we ALWAYS divide the two numbers after x squared and y squared by (-2)... in this case we divide 4 by -2 and -10 by -2
Omar Bradley could you make this video with that explanation? Plsssssssss?
Can you wait two seconds 😂
haha yes
I love you so much, Brian. You are great at teaching.
Man, these teachers are real lifer savers. They teach us the stuff we don’t memorize or have payed attention to, massive respect for these guys ✊✊✊
I don't think you will ever see this comment, but thank you VERY MUCH for getting me through a maths exam. You are my savior!
I would like someone to please explain to me how you got (×+2)^2+(y-5)^2 I don't understand how you came up with the 2 on the x side and the 5 on the y side
just factoring
@Dorainne Derigay I know the question's not for me but if you don't mind, let me help you. Well, returning back to the center radius form, which is (x-h)^2 + (y-k)^2, substitute the h and k with the answer you got, which is positive 2 and negative 5. It will look like this: (x-2)^2+(y-(-5))^2 Negative times negative is positive. Hence, the answer (-2,5). Hope this helped :3
@@gabbie0921 were did the 2 and the 5 come from tho
Yeah i dont get how you get from x^2+4x+4 to (x+2)^2. Isnt (x+2)^2 x^2+4?? It doesnt make sense.
@@slezzzy4916 It came from the factored form (x+2)^2+(x-5)^2. Thus, getting positive 2 and negative 5.
Got it so fast! Thank you for the great teaching, sir
Thank you so much! I have midterms coming up and was struggling with this
thank you for this vid or else this question will be the death of my grade
Wait I'm confused where did you get the 2 and 5 in (x+2)²+(y-5)² ? I got lost :// Edit: I understand, thanks !
yeah, I know this is 2 months late, but if you are still interested, let me explain. we know that the equation's general formula is (x-a)^2 + (y-b)^2 = r^2, here, a is the x coordinate of center and b is the y coordinate of the center ( some use h and k instead of a and b), let me correct you that its not 2 and 5 but '-2' and 5. we can see that + 2 is in the position of -a. So from (x+2)²+(y-5)², the a(x cordin of center is -2 (not 2 because -minus of minus is +) and b (y cor of center) is 5. Sorry if this didn't clear your doubts ( i know I am not gd at explaining) and my bad english :), hv a gd day.
FARZAD thank you!

@@alexandrafriess623text next period 😭😭
I do
i dont understand where the-2 and the 5 came from. i was with you every step and then whoosh to the answer
idk if you still care but remember the equation is (x-h)^2 + (y-k)^2 so to get (x+2)^2 like the equation in the video it must be (x- -2)^2 since negative and negative is positive and using that same thing on (y-k)^2 to get -5 it must be 5 since positive negative is negative.
@@rushilsherieff3751 but how did he come up with -2?
@@professionalocchiolist4104 i know this is very late but im guessing he square rooted (x^2+4x+4
@@lindttortillatime1005 thank you 💞💞
@@professionalocchiolist4104 ok wait sorry. I just found out you have to factor out (x^2+4x+4). To factor, what makes up 4? That's 2+2. Second, what makes up 4? 2*2. So that would be written as (x+2)^2 :D
So happy to find your channel! We'll be having our preliminary exam tomorrow and calculus is our first subject, and I really need to study this! THANKS A LOT!😘

thanks Brian! I always resort to your videos!
I do have terms in front of my quadratics unlike the problem in the video, what do I do lol
just divide the whole equation by the term (thats on the front of x),so that the x becomes alone. Then follow the same procedure as he did
