It has been more than 20 years and I’m still using my Game Boy Advance SP, which has become THE NEW ULTIMATE GBA SP. The best Handheld console for my own use.
I've modded my gameboy with a USB-C and an updated LCD IPS screen. Modifications on your gameboy sp will let you play retro games such as your older gameboy or gameboy SP games and especially your older Pokemon games. Retro Gaming is still very much alive. The GBA SP helps me out with reliving the good old days.

The Game Boy Advance SP was released in Japan on February 14, 2003.
It is the 6th generation handheld game console developed by Nintendo.
Serving as an upgrade to the Game Boy Advance, the SP stands for Special and it is more compact and portable with its flip screens.
This came out before the Game Boy Micro in September 13, 2005, which could only play Game Boy Advanced games while the Game Boy SP lets you play both old game boy games and game boy advanced games.
There are a total of 31 official colors for this gameboy but you could always swap the external shell into something that you prefer.
Aside from being a portable gameboy that allows you to play older gameboy games, what made this even MORE POPULAR was how easily mod-able this console was. From changing the battery to adding more ports. This was truly an accidental masterpiece of a console that Nintendo created but never intended for it to be.
Up till 2009, the Game Boy Advance SP has sold UP to 45 million or more units worldwide.
