☆ in this video, i show you guys how to wash thrifted plushies and pillows! You can't just throw plushies and pillows in the washing machine because it will beat up the stuffing and make them lumpy, hand-washing is the best option to keep them in the best shape possible! Make sure to avoid bleach, and use a toothbrush to gently spot-clean stains and dark spots!
☆ little introduction: hi my name is hannah and im a depop top seller! i'm 19 years old, i'm a libra, and ive been selling on depop since 2016; this is my full time job! i specialize in reworking and painting thrifted clothing and accessories with flowers, mushrooms, smiley faces, frogs, rainbows, and sanrio characters! i am a proud advocate for disabled and chronically ill small business owners, as i am one myself! i love spreading the word about how good it is to shop secondhand, and i also want to put an end to fast fashion!
☆ welcome to my video! i hope you enjoy it and hit subscribe if you want to know when i post videos in the future AND want to become part of the ghostie family! thank you for your support! everyone is welcome here!

  • Also as someone who works at a thrift store, this is just...amazing. People often have the misconception we clean things before selling, but we get SO much stock we would never have time to. Now I won't hesitate to buy these cute plushies! T_T And your message at the end, plus your lil chicks. Awwww! Youre a sweetheart.

  • This is a very well lit together video and useful for anyone wanting to hand clean, but 95% of the time delicate cycle in cold water in a washing machine is fine.

  • LOVE the vintage care bears!!! I still have my original Cheer bear from when I was a kid and eventually found the rest of the originals (not the cousin ones) at thrift stores and eBay. Washed them all and they turned out great.

  • Hi, I found a Day Dream Bear at a swap meet recently with a still intact voice box, I was wondering if you knew how to properly wash it, at least on the outside?

  • I've had a xl hello kitty for 8 -9 years. I have never washed her due to being scared to. damage her. After watching the video and getting some context I think I'm finally ready to clean my plush for the first time 😢....... For context I got her when I was in middle school 7th grade so maybe 13 years old. I'm almost 21. .

  • Going to try this with a plush I recently bought from Ebay. It's not visibly dirty, except the fur on it is.. sticky..?? My mom said it was just damp, but after letting it sit for 9 hours it still feels oily and sticky. Which makes me worry. I originally just wanted to toss it in the washing machine, but I've been having problems with something in the wash cycle. (Washing machine + dryer. I think it's the dryer but I'm not wanting to take any risks as this was an expensive plush.) I can't dry outside, how can I dry it? I'm thinking using a towel just so it's not sopping wet, then letting it sit on a rag with a fan or putting it in the dryer on the "no heat" setting. Think that would work? I really don't want to mess up the plush. While it isn't exactly rare, the shipping to get it here is usually 10-20 dollars, and the plush alone is nearly 20. I'm just a kid with a little bit of allowance, I can't afford to buy several replacements if I mess up.

  • I know I've read dont buy stuffed animals at thrift stores. Thrift store i use to go to had a huge bin of them all the time and i also donated some. Most stuffed animals you can wash, even if its in a tub or sink. You can even restuff them for cheap if they seem to be to flat. Im 53 and even i got stuffed animals from a thrift store when i was a kid and washed them. I had some old stuffed animals that actually were stuffed with weird Styrofoam, i took the seam out of the back and took it out ,washed the stuffed animal and restuffed with the fluffy stuff like for pillows. Allot of things they say dont buy, you can and wash real good and disinfect. My mother bought a nice big braided rug at a yard sale sge cleaned ut with the attachment on a carpet cleaner. It was nice and she put it in her living room in front of the fire place. Funny, because clothes from.thrift stores can be gross to, you have no idea where it was or what is on it. People have no problem buying the clothes. Soak wash, use Borax or white vinegar in with it. You can see bed bugs, so for people saying dont buy it can have bed bugs. I've been nice quilts and bedspreads in thrift stores. Just put directly in wash when you get home.
