I was so ready to type an essay to defend Frieren
Lmao yeah😂
I thought that the title of the video was a witty way of explaining what you learn with the anime Time is finite this analysis that you are watching is a waste of your time Go live or something like that
@@AuroraTheFirstLightits just the name of the song
It was really a waste
@@AuroraTheFirstLight I'd probably disagree. Frieren also shows us that the time spent doing what you enjoy (collecting stupidly specific spells, exploring every single dungeon or, in our case, watching an hour-long video essay) is not wasted. Life is to be enjoyed and cherished, and people can (and should) celebrate life by simply living it, doing whatever makes life just that tiny bit brighter for them.
Judging from the title, i thought this was going to be an 1 hr video essay about how Frieren was a waste of time
so glad to hear that i wasnt the only one xD
And good thing it wasn’t an essay about that
I was already sharpening my pitchfork lol
These replies make me sad. I love this show and wouldn’t mind seeing someone’s perspective to why they hated it. Fans have too much dogma 🤮
@@jqyhlmnp it’s not dogma, we’re simply unquestionably correct ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
This art goes so incredibly hard, goodness gracious.
I’m a bit skeptical that any person actually drew it. Just from looking at the supposed artist, their style oddly shifts with every piece while still being about Frieren. Also some pieces have the clear overly saturated and detail work commonly seen in AI generated hyper realistic anime art
@@doodlegame8704 Upon closer inspection, you're right. 😭Stark's axe is horrendously inaccurate, the reflection to Heiter's right is goobed, and Frieren herself has inconsistent golden bands on her cuffs.
@@bradleygalo4775 AI art is really scarry af, they just so good that It can easily fool viewer by first glance
@@doodlegame8704 It's still godly art, AI made or not
@@doodlegame8704 It's fan art. The original artist doesn't post their stuff on the provided link. They're on twitter from what I found in the past, but it's been a while since I discovered this particular piece.
Even the Author of the Manga said this was the best art he's seen and even had it as an extra page for the Manga
which chapter was it?
Yeah ive got a displate of it definitely the best art ive seen of frieren
how? i cant find a picture with the recommended specs it always ends up stretched or with a big black border@@Nameless_TF
her neck looks so goofy i cant take it seriously, she must have found a spell to turn into a giraffe
Its a very clever use of reflections
I don’t know why but people seem to overlook just how perfect of a match the soundtracks in Frieren are. The animation and storytelling get a lot of praise, but the music is overlooked a lot. Kind of sad since the music score is also a masterpiece.
Its not overlooked that much, most of these people dont learn composition or appreciate music as much as others, thats all to it
@@Nbunasuis24I’m kinda curious who “most of these people” and “others” are referring to… and why do I need to “learn composition” to appreciate good music? As I see it, the background tracks composed by Evan Call (the same composer to Violet Evergarden) blend in so perfectly with the atmosphere and the story that the viewers just take them for granted. Not like they are actively trying to ignore them. And often times, the music is played when there’s a really interesting thing going on in the scene (a sakuga or whatnot) so our attention are drawn to the visuals more than the audio.
The soundtrack is a huge part of a show for me, and matters quite a lot in my opinion. It honestly has been my favorite part of the show so far. There was so much effort and love put into the soundtrack. It’s absolutely beautiful
apparently, everything is "overlooked" and "overrated."
@@renzen4354 Not everything is “overrated” and “overlooked” what are you talking about? The animation does get its well earned praise however, the music doesn’t. And in my opinion the music score needs to get its deserved recognition. You could say the music is “overlooked” but animation isn’t overlooked nor is it overrated.
There are 4 characters in the reflection, but only 3 characters in the current time, because no one can replace Himmel. Fern is Heifer's apprentice, Stark is Isen's, but Himmel has no direct counterpart.
Beacuse Himmel's presence is felt even today. Heiter and Eisen even adopted Fern and Stark by following his example.
_Frieren_ is Himmel's apprentice, trying to learn from him now since she didn't think to when he was alive.
Perfect take. Kind of relieving to see being a long time fan of the manga. @@_kalia
Fern is Frieren's apprentice/replacement not Heiter's. Sein as taught by Heiter, will fill Heiter's shoe's as the (corrupt)priest. Frieren is Himmel's apprentice on this new journey.
Frieren is replacing Himmel, stark to Isen, Fern replacing Frieren and Sein is replacing Heither. That's my thoughts. I don't mind your way of looking at it either. They all carry similar emotions
There's no thing like a waste in this anime, everything about it is so beautiful.
There is. First arc is about how you can waste all precious moments of human's life.
@@Suhov rel, frieren didn't realise this part
Must be your first time listening to ost.
@@BruhMoment-yg6jv why??
@@LINK1V4N At least try slave knight gael theme, doom soundtrack, and you'll see that this is rather mediocre
Love the medieval vibe from the violins. Sets the tone so well.
You should check out Violet evergarden's OST if you like frieren's. Its done by the same composer and he's so god damn amazing
Check kensuki usio too
@@ju5tm398 yea, I'm a big fan of Evan Call. My mates and I joked he was cursed since a lot of his work was for anime that flopped. But his tunes are always a banger.
Ironically, violins weren’t invented until after the medieval period
Yea, it's a bit anachronistic, but hey, there were a few ancestors to the violin around that time. 😁
I was straight up sharpening my blades, ready to go to war when I saw the title I woke up in a field instead.
You are not alone brother =))
A Waste is the name of the song
This truly has a Lord of the Rings vibe to it and it’s beautiful
Are you saying that because of the books or movies?
@@feedmatrix10 the films since I’ve never read the books yet
It feels more like Witcher to me. Little bit rustic.
nah not really
Yeah absolutely. LotR is centered on the positive bonds between people and Frieren is similar. It is my favorite type of fantasy story.
What beautiful music and art. I shall admire it for only 10 years
a mere 10 years?
aye, a mere ten years@@benhicks9481

First ep of frieren made me feel like the music’s vibe is sooo similar to violet evergarden. Turns out it has the same composer❤
Appropriate because both series are about coping with loss and finding your own happiness.

frieren is so full of nostalgia and we just started got in season 1. and the goodbye from Himmel at the end was so bittersweet.
Fun fact: Evan Call is also the composer for Violet Evergarden
Well, that explains a lot.
This anime is just a work of art. Truly amazing and the music just compliments it even more.
Evan Call is a genius
Love him 😭♥️
I can’t help but feel sad. To be reminded that in the life of an immortal, one moment for you could be someone’s entire lifetime. But the saddest part is that the new companions you make will one day be memories. Maybe even forgotten.
Everything passes. To be mortal is to embrace this truth. To be immortal, i imagine, is to embrace it doubly so. When you're mortal, you age, die and that's it, but when you're immortal, you're forever bound to witness this cycle again and again
Thankfully for frieren, elves have incredibly strong memories. She can easily recall memories with Flam that happened over a thousand years ago. So I don't think she'll be forgetting Himmel or Fern
this video is equivalent to a youtube short for frieren
I like the title. Most people would say that Frieren is "wasting her time" because of her slacking off for hundreds or even thousands of years, but it's not like she wanted to. Her perception of time is just different from everyone else, and maybe even humans, with their limited lifespans, can learn to appreciate the act of "wasting time" and really taking in every second of the life that they are given.
cant do that here as a human, get up and get grinding
@@ejuss4216 facts. We need to focus
We may waste 1 hour from this but this is barely an immediate moment for our lovely elf.
Melancholy at the impermanence of life yet a passionate tribute to the power of memories to transcend time.
Many people tend to waste time in their already short lives, but elves just do it thousands times more
For me, I interpret it as Himmel left behind nothing but memories. Both Heiter and Eisen foster children of their own, now accompanying Frieren's journey.
idk why people thought it was someone making an essay why frieren is a waste while im here thinking it was going to be a 1 hour art time lapse
music really makes me feel like I am in the fantasy world
Absolutely beautiful. Was looking for peaceful music to listen to while studying and this fittingly popped up in my reccomended.
I will put this vid to my Ancient Music Collection, I would say
Thank you for posting this! It's a great melody to listen to while reading
Just a mere hour.
had this on loop for 8 hours while reading frieren, no joke
my heart is so heavy after realizing what's to come. it made me cry becasue i was so emotionally invested. only good anime can make me cry.
These soundtracks helped me cope with my problems that lied within me. My friend hurted me today. This masterpiece helps me to calm down and sort out things that i need to address to myself. Good job and kudos to the studio!

I came here just because of the thumbnail, its ridiculously good art... just like the anime as a whole.

Very Nice
I just realised that the art has the reflection of Himmels party in it. Thats crazy.
"PRASHING" is important
So few instruments.. So few notes.. And yet... This is art.
I think i will listen to this on a trip.
It reminds me of Grizzly Hills from World of Warcraft. Very comforting!

Just listen to the music brought me to the world that i'm always dreaming about. God, i love all of people who involve with this incredible art
i clicked on video and now i'm stuck. Can't escape of this music. I'm bewitched
Nice art
I genuinely thought this was a video essay, either about how watching the show was a waste of time or some sort of meta-commentary on how by watching the video itself we are wasting precious time we could spend with others.
The title was misleading, but I'm glad It's a beautiful song.

14 hours in total of reading, i finally caught up with frieren
Reading this manga while hearing this music.
This art might be what Casper David Friedrich would have painted, if he was into Anime (of course in a more skilled way but I digress) The western/european style landscape with the characters centered in the middle, what he has done in a lot of his paintings too.
This musical piece is very beautiful, but also makes me extremely sad for some reason..
I shed a tear when I watched the reflection
When Frieren said give me time or wait a minute, she meant the duration of this video.
It's great!
This song is making me cry.
The mage exam arc has been kinda fun and we've met new characters and all, but now it kinda feels like every other anime series I've ever seen. There was something so special and comfy about the early episodes that I hope isn't lost forever.
You see TEACHING SIDE TO HER. Something she never did. Also, the other mages see Fern's ridiculous potential, as she also, has mastered in her early age, TURNING MANA OFF. Plus, the first class mage, setting up the MEET with MASTER MAGE, who is looked upon as GODDESS. It hasn't lost, it's comfy, especially the restaurant scene after the first exam.
The music has a beautiful melancholic nordic vibe to it. It speaks of a distant cold, cold land of snow and ice. 'Frieren' means '(to) freeze' in German, so it is only fitting.
Aw man, I actually had the EXACT SAME idea for a Frieren fanart (with the difference that Himmel would be reflected on Frieren since she's following his path). Now I don't want to do it lol
You can still do it and give it your own spin! :)
