In this video I turn some beads from pieces of scrap wood, many of them the ends of pen blanks.

Great idea Dave
Thanks Gav!
This is a really cool idea Dave. Thanks for sharing. I will definitely have to make some beads for my girls some point
Thanks John! One problem is that it does stop you from throwing even the smallest scrap away!! 🤣
@@MoleValleyMaker 🤣🤣
There's something very therapeutic watching you turn a bland piece of wood into something beautiful that can be worn as a necklace or bracelet...well done Dave..keep them coming mate.
Thanks John!
Nice one moley.....we all have bits of pen blank we don't throw away
Thanks Chris!
Cool idea, nice skewing too! I've turned a couple pens now and kept the offcuts as I was thinking about sanding them into cubes but some might also become beads! Cheers mate!
Cheers Tim! It's strangely relaxing and satisfying!
Very nicely done. I like the idea of cordage and 3 beads for £10. Great video. Thanks for sharing it.
Thanks Doug. Pricing can be a difficult aspect of doing markets but generally the £10 and under sales are still strong. Fingers crossed! Thanks, Dave
Very nice 👍
Thank you 👍
Hi Dave... Great way to use your small offcuts... Well done... Take care my friend...All the best.....Andy
Thanks Andy!
I have hundreds of these little offcuts from all the pens I have made. Great project Dave and I love that 1/4" Skew. Take care mate. Cheers, Huw
Thanks Huw. It's a great project for a master pen turner such as yourself. I love that skew! I made a custom handle for it rather than the modular sorby one but it still let's me take the tool out as I need to do that to sharpen it. I did about 95% of all the beads with that one and a similar Ashley Isles skew but I did use a beading tool and a small 1/4" gouge on some for the coves. All the best, Dave
@@MoleValleyMaker I could certainly do with the Skew practice. LOL.
Cool
Thanks for the comment Luie!
I stopped doing these when I accidently drilled through my finger! 😊
Whoops! I'll concede that every time I see someone hand holding a piece they are drilling into I cringe! Thanks for commenting!
