  • Wow, that St. Moritz 2008 DH was one helluva crazy race! I bet 99 % of the viewers would be of the belief that Laragusa lost the victory by the slightest margin possible... and then comes the Tina with bib number 47 (!) and takes the whole thing? What a crazy debut for both of them!

  • Thank you for the video! I'm a big fan of her since 2007. Lara is great skier and a very attractive woman. She is like Kimi Raikkonen in Formula 1. Very talented and no-bulls**t about the media. I'm very happy for her 2(!) world champion titles. She deserved it and work very hard to get to the top again. Hope more to come! So again thank you for your informative video and keep up the good work! Greetings from Hungary!

Grande Lara!

  • For the longest time it felt like she was cursed at World Championships and the Olympics, she just couldn't win. For awhile it felt like she would go down in history as the greatest Alpine Skiier never to win any gold medals at major international competitions. As a long time fan, seeing her overcome that and finally win not only one but two gold medals in Cortina 2021 and securing her legacy by claming a gold in Beijing 2022 made me really happy.

  • I always liked Lara. When i was kid my childhood idols were Ted Ligety (from the men) and Lara Gut (from the women). I was happy to see her development with my eyes - from the biggest talent (after Janica Kostelic and Mikaela Shiffrin) to one huge star. Even in her bad period (2018-2020) when she was so hated because of her relationship with Valon Behrami, i believed in her and in that she will come back one day. And this day came. My personal opinion is the 3rd place in Bansko 2020 was the beggining of her comeback, after that the 2 wins on Crans Montana but 2021 is her year! 4 consecutive wins in super-G - discpline which till soon there wasn't dominator, now Lara is back on the throne. I would say season 2020/2021 is better than 2015/2016 because in 2016 she had bit luck but now she is completing with great skiers like Vlhova, Gisin, Suter, Bassino etc. About her character - i don't like her character in some aspects. But the thing which makes her unique is that she is herself and never lies. Better to be "the bad girl" than to be hypocrite. She is the alone wolf of the swiss team and i always liked the alone wolves althrough sometimes i don't understand them. Lara Gut-Behrami is skier which we won't forget. Athlete with many ups and downs in psyhical and physical aspects. With one word - fighter!

    • Please elaborate why she was hated because of her husband? Who is an accomplished soccer player. Brazilians hate him because they couldn't beat Switzerland and he made the little prima donna Neymar disappear but who cares. That shit doesn't count, soccer fans from Brazil are too passionate about their mediocre teams but tell me where else is the hate comes from and why. They are a happy couple. Happy people do make others happy so I don't understand.

    • @@coolgabe64 Okay so in the end i boils down to old white people (mainly men) watching Ski Racing and the fact that the Swiss national football team‘s athletes are in large parts immigrants or the sons of immigrants including Behrami. Now those old white dudes are already sad and lonely, but now this guy with his Tattoos and already has a kid is marrying „their“ beautiful pure Lara. Others just thought it was weird that they‘d get married in July after making the relationship public in March and Valon was officially together with the mother of his kid till February. Tbh Swiss people like to hate and everybody else didn‘t care. Except for Slalom Tokyo Drift, but that‘s another story 😉

      @alpinestartgate@alpinestartgate3 жыл бұрын
    • And who are they to judge Lara and Valon? That's their personal life and they decide when they will marry and with who will marry. I am here to watching alpine skiing and the successes of the skiers, not to judging their personal lives. For me Lara is great athlete, one alive legend in all aspects and real fighter.

      @xxxxxxxx8634@xxxxxxxx86343 жыл бұрын
    • @@xxxxxxxx8634 oh I totally agree. The hate is incredibly stupid! I don‘t understand how you can care about who an athlete‘s dating as long as it‘s a loving relationship ... and with Lara and Valon it definitely is!

    • @@alpinestartgate , I think Lara going to win the overall title this year , well deserved. For us, fans that all it matters and her private life is hers only. Whatever makes her happy, I'm fine with it. Private lives of athletes are none of our business IMO.

  • Interesting points and highlights in the video, thanks. Lara, is a very admirable & impressive young woman, a fabulous skier and great role model for young athletes female and male. It's so refreshing to have the top athletes shown to stand for their beliefs. This is the slow but subtle steering of the FIS & organizing committees towards acting in a more mature/professional and respectful manner towards the racers, whom they do a tremendous amount of effort and work for. However they don't seem very capable of recognizing that once the athletes have been on the circuit for a few seasons and have shown their due respect while earning their individual successes that they MUST also respond with respect and show an ability to evolve with the athletes in a mutually respectful manner that gratefully acknowledges the athletes hard earned maturity and recognizes the need to treat the athletes as the MAJOR players in the circus that they are. It's good and big business for everyone involved and it must be a fully shared responsibility with the actions and respect deserved.

  • To get those results she is a Realist. Her wins indicate quite profoundly that Lara Gut-Behrami is good at dealing well with the THATNESS of things. And to get where she has she must naturally have a congenial side... (plus, who ever heard of Swiss people getting irate?) There must have been a very good reason, how about looking there before any condemnation?) From the account of her in the video she seems the kind of girl that “does no harm but takes no shit” - that’s well balanced. Respect ✊

But that it is part of the game...only for the fans and attletas were a bit disapointed, but the life goes on and was exactly what she did... well done Lara you are n° 1 / champion the rest It's history.

  • If the snow conditions at Crans Montana were very humid then the race becomes very dangerous for the competitors knees as the skis become VERY “grabby” on the snow and the slightest error can result in a skiers knees getting wrecked. If those were the conditions - or suchlike - then from a coaches perspective they would be deemed highly inappropriate to race on. From a racers perspective, someone who has their very skiing career on the line, plus a great deal of pain and effort in recovery for their troubles it’s a different story entirely. So giving an opinion that illustrates the Seriousness of such a situation from her perspective - that of saving her own and fellow competitors knees - takes a Seriously Higher priority than running the race. It’s a dangerous sport already, increasing the dangers to DANGEROUS levels would show a lack of concern for the racers wellbeing and would, under those circumstances, for example, justify and excuse such a response. As that really is the reality of the situation and the THATNESS of things. It would be interesting to know the full background to that episode. As she got away with it I’m guessing that after consideration at the hearing it must have been deemed a valid comment - there are circumstances where such remarks are justified ie: “That you got us to race that Nightmare! To risk our knees and more just so you could run the competition!? What about our knees?!! What about our careers?!! Are you trying to destroy us? Where’s the empathy? Where’s the consideration? Where’s the common humanity?” And at the hearing: “Dear Panel, I’m here today just to justify my remarks on the racing conditions at Crans Montana. Under the conditions present on the day, whereby our knees were in great danger of getting destroyed, how would you feel if they were your knees on the line?.... Yeah, I thought so too.....” Case dismissed. Fair comment - under those conditions from the racers perspective.
