She said CLEANUP & REMOVE Everything!

Well, have I got a crazy one for you today. This really does bring a new meaning to garden jungle restoration. This one came through to the call centre and was asked to go around, have a look and do a quote. When I saw the place, I was shocked. You could hardly access the back for overgrown blackberries. And that was just the start of this unbelievable garden adventure. All up, I spent around 12 hours on this cleanup, with 3 trips to the landfill.

FAQ's:
Q: Where are you located?
A: I am from Hobart, Tasmania, Australia 🦘.
Q: Do you worry about snakes?
A: I have never even seen a snake in over 5 years on the job.
Q: Which equipment do you use?
A: Mostly STIHL power equipment (battery and petrol) and commercial Honda self-propelled mowers.
Q: How much do the jobs cost?
A: Sorry, I prefer not to talk about costs.
Q: Why don't you use tarps instead of bins?
A: Tarps are too difficult to move through small spaces and lift into the trailer. The same for wheelbarrows, they are only good for unloading the trailer!
Q: Why are the hot water cylinders outside?
A: I would say it's because Australia had a temperate to tropical climate, and therefore it doesn't matter that much if they are outdoors. To me, though, it seems a bit inefficient to have them outside in Tasmania with a temperate climate (coldish for 3 - 4 months per year). But that is industry standard down here 🤷‍♂️.
Q: Why don't you have help?
A: I've had many problems with employees in the past, so now I work alone.
Q: Why don't you have a ride-on mower?
A: Well, there are a few reasons.
1. I don't have the right trailer for a ride on, considering I always take away the green waste.
2. I don't have anywhere to store it, as my shed is too small.
3. A lot of the properties we do have fences and gates, so you can't actually get a ride-on on to the properties.
4. I don't do enough big jobs to justify spending 15k AUD on a stander, but it would be nice to have one!
5. I will get one as soon as my transport and storage problems are solved.
Q: What types of ladders do you use?
A: The large one is a Gorilla Adjustable Platform 150kg and the small one is a Gorilla Mighty 19. They are both adjustable.
Q: Who/what is Jim's Mowing?
A: Jim's Mowing is a franchise business. The Jim's Group is the biggest home services franchise in Australia.
Q: Why do you have 2 channels that seem the same?
A: Quick Cuts (my original channel) has music in the background. Quick Cuts V2 is for those that like just machine noise, and it doesn't have music.

    • I read in another comment somewhere (although I have no idea if it's true in this case) that in some towns the disposal fee is insanely high for things like large appliances and furniture and so on. So people who can't afford that fee, or who don't have a vehicle to get the item to the dump, just put it outside the back door with the thought of "Okay, I'll take care of it later" and then, like with a lot of other stuff, "later" turns into "never" and it just gets worse and worse until it's overwhelming.

    • I totally agree with you. What I don't understand is why don't the neighbours help her, surely, they know she has a disabled person in her care. But you can tell inside that it's a hoarding situation, the same outside which is sad. George you are a miracle worker and deserve so much more. You give me inspiration to do more in my community.

You are the only makeover guy on KZhead that takes those properties and make them look pretty again. I love the way you slice those blackberries into “cubes” and haul them out. 😄 I was shocked you left the ones in the back corner, that’s so not like you at all!! 😉 Hope your giant agave rash isn’t still with you. That was the most chopped up yard I believe I’ve ever seen. You did a great job with your camera setting up. It’s so nice you could help this woman get her backyard back. See you on the next one!

It could be made to look like a pretty little picture with new soil in the garden beds, painted charcoal fence with lovely little plants and flowers around. And what a gorgeous little patio area there. Imagine what one could do with that with nice pots etc. A good lick of paint on the house trim and it would look like a new pin. Your contribution was just fantastic, and this lady is very lucky indeed to have you help her out. Thankyou George.

  • George, you are absolutely fearless! You tackled that jungle where I wouldn’t even know where to start. There were so many features that were completely hidden underneath all that overgrowth! I completely agree with you about the blackberries. They are awful! It surely does look good now. You did an excellent job, and the lady will be able to maintain it. Thank you for sharing. Awesome video. ❤️

  • I’m quite impressed with the level of detail and clean-up you put into your work. And just as impressive is the fact that you consistently protect your skin and eyes from the elements. Keep up the excellent work!

  • I agree, blackberries are the worst, I had to clear out a huge stand and they nearly got the better of me. Was a pleasure watching you have a go at them, thanks for this video!
