  • What a long, strange, beautiful journey it's been! Many of your films taught me something new and previously misunderstood stuff (and living in Italy, medieval museums are everywhere!) Here's to 500k more Tod, you deserve it :D

    • @@tods_workshop KZhead hasn't been so kind to the Weaponry channels on KZhead but at least their communities have been kind in return! Quite excited as this could open up a new era of content and step up the production even further. At the end of the day though, I appreciate that this channel is first and foremost a passion and a place for both parties to learn.

  • Of all the Hema channels, this has to be one of if not my favorite. Nothing against other channels, but they are all usually theoretical, discussions, discussions of things from books, or concepts, or theories. This channel is entirely practical experiments, true experimental archeology, and I feel like the whole HEMA world has learned a lot from this channel. I know I have. I feel like I understand the fuller context of how ranged weapons worked on the medieval battlefield than I did before. It cleared up so many misconceptions for me, especially about crossbows in particular. I'm hoping my game has the most historically accurate crossbows ever seen thanks to this channel.

  • If there was a £3/$6AUD tier with some content I'd be happy to subscribe to your Patreon, but at $13 AUD I'd have to drop a couple of smaller creators. Just a thought, and it may be way too much work to add the lower tier for it to be worth it, so no pressure, it just might ve something to consider.

  • I really wish i could donate, But im happy your still putting videos om yt and not pay to learn like, some others.... But i understand still wanting to thank them by giving behind the scenes, thats fine... *hears the longer videos part* why isn't more of that on yt? We love more information and with promising format like you longer means .orw info and not just waste of time that can be cut down, Then again you give us all the information we need in your videos and i trust you to continue,

    @theromanorder@theromanorder5 ай бұрын
    • Don’t worry about the YT end or not being able to donate. It won’t change for the worse and hopefully get better. The longer video thing is tricky. If I put out videos with more content, there will be less pace, so less views, so less income. There has to be a balance, often hard to find but I try to keep as much content as I can but make them commercial enough to be worth making. So the content is good, just not fast enough and Patreon will allow that to exist in a way that YT won’t

    • I am too independent to change much and I will fiercely defend everything that Tods Workshop stands for. However my ideas often get developed more after a film and this will help develop them before. So the reality I expect it to be is actually just better thought through films. There will be films behind a paywall and that is a reality of trying to make it pay its way however they will be supplemental and ‘geekier’ content and nothing will be taken away from the YT films - don’t worry, I won’t let you down

Your Agincourt and armor piecing videos were a great addition to the Hundred Years’ War, helped us separate fact from fiction and look at some of the mythology of the longbow. On my evals, a handful of students mentioned how much they loved that lesson - so just know your videos are enriching the academic community at Vanderbilt! The “field testing” of weapons helped a lot of students learn in a different way from reading written primary sources.
