He could have had more money and trophies with Man Utd, but the man chose to play for his boyhood club....RESPECT!
Paul White he won the league with you but beat his dads hero’s goal scoring record at NUFC and become the premier leagues all time goalscorer fcuk manure and there glory hunters ya don’t see Man U shirts anymore ha ha blue moon !!
Shearer is the best and always will be in terms of centre forwards there is no one better I feel lucky to support newcastle and to have watched best striker of all time playing for my club having that feeling beats silverware in my opinion
Devon Green agreed
@@devongreen3650 whatever!
Alex Ferguson said if Shearer had come to Man U he would have won 15 Trophies Shearer replied if you had had me you would have won 30!
No b/s, no money-hunting, no ‘celebrity’ lifestyle, no distractions, no histrionics or tantrums - just 100% effort and determination for the game he (and we) love. An honest, hard-working, tough, committed, talented humble leader. ‘Smokey’, we salute you 🎩 👏🏼👏🏼 🥇
Pure genius, an 100%man every game, nufc took a ride on his back for 10 years under shite managers after Robson, and average players in average teams,an all time great .
Wasted potential.
@@benyoung4305 yeah, I can see that ,imagine if he's signed for man Utd!,more goals ,more trophies, but in his defence, he's a home grown Geordie, and the no9 shirt n goals make him an all time legend to the Geordies, to outsiders an all time great no9.
@@kevindavis7161 Yeah, I see your point mate.
Who the fuck is 'Smokey'
260 premiership goals with 2 seasons in his prime missed through injury - easily wouldve got 300 - a total unsurpassed and never will be. A true legend of English football.
" unsurpassed and never will be "🤣🤣😀🙂
A great total, but back in the day Jimmy Greaves and before him probably Dixie Dean scored more, no reason to think it won't happen again, especially now with sports science meaning players can go on until late 30s. Ronaldo scored over 300 La Liga goals in 9 seasons. Messi nearly 500 in a few more. Could easily happen in England again, though I guess many players spend their careers in a variety of countries now
@@davyprendergast82 True, but you're talking about the days of 2-3-5 formations and weaker defence all round. I agree though. Greaves and Dean were great players, not to mention little Hughie Gallagher, with his 38 goals in 1926/27, leading my club to their last first tier title. My prediction is we'll win the title again on the 100 year anniversary of the last one. Seems like a reasonable window for Eddie to build something. Got to avoid relegation first.
If haaland stays in the prem..... I think he has a good chance to break shearers record ..... but hope he doesn't
Shearer is the best old fashioned 9. In the classic position in Engliah football he would be the best. Henry, Aguero, Kane could have beat his record, but he had injuries and could have lengthened it.
Him and van Basten are the greatest pure Strikers ever. Respect from a Liverpool fan. You are one of a kind Alan, both as a human and a player.
I'm a Liverpool fan but I have to admire someone like Shearer. Signs for his home town club so he can wear the legendary no. 9 shirt and to stick with that club even though they don't do that well in the league? That's a special kind of loyalty by a very special player. 👍
As a newcastle fan who has Benetez. I can relate to lobing either a player or manager regardless
Big fish small pond .

Glen Telfer You’re a Liverpool fan and don’t remember Shearer asking about a move to Anfield ???
When your heart is set on your boyhood club and you achieve and surpass your goals and then break the scoring record.. then you truly are a Legend. Congrats to Alan Shearer.
Yep, 'He did it his way' congrats to never selling his soul to the (red) devils. --- NO. 9 LEGEND of NUFC --- Same old shearer. always scoring !!!
Smashed Jackie milburns record.. when they say about trophys? That is HIS trophy
@@matt80one90 and didn’t win more than 1 trophy
Alan Shearer : a Manual book of a classic british striker.
A manual book, as opposed to an automatic book?
He had it all as an early to mid-'90s striker but when Brazil's Ronaldo emerged, the book had to be re-written. I would compare Shearer to Gabriel Batistuta. He was a phenomenol goalscorer and excellent in his position but he was just a shade off being the world's very best. If he had gone to Man Utd and won the Champions League with them, maybe the perception would be different.
@@DidYaServe I thought Batistuta and Shearer share a lot of qualities too. Well observed. Closest match at top level possible for their era
Clive Bindley Hahahahaha transmissions jokes ammiright😐
Classic ENGLISH striker. I don't remember any Scottish, Welsh or Irish striker anything like him.
Few players over the years dream to play an stay with there clubs an become legends , top 3 Gerard , scholes and Wor Alan
Sir Alex Ferguson had tried to signed him three times. Shearer always turn it down. Alan shearer was a living legend who shows that passion and loyalty are everything in football.
The best Premier League striker of all time. We’ve had some excellent ones (I’m a Liverpool fan) but Shearer was something special. Loyalty over more wealth and trophies and his phenomenal scoring numbers get my vote every time.
not even close mate!

As a young football fanatic from Blackburn growing up in the 90's, this man was my absolute hero! He was to me what Kevin Keegan was to him as a boy. I met him twice as a boy and he was so unassuming and great with the young fans. I still have a signed & framed picture with him when i was 8 yrs old. We all shed a tear when he left Blackburn for Newcastle but never held it against him, who could blame a man achieving his childhood dream. If anything we were extremely glad he didn't go to Man Utd to chase money and glory; what character Alan has. We in Blackburn will always contend that he has his best years in our town, but we would say that wouldn't we! In my humble opinion.. It's about time he became Sir Alan Shearer.
I agree
You are right mate.
I’m Scottish I have been going down to see Newcastle for years THE best of his generation joy to watch
Alan shaerer a true newcastle united legend
Alan shearer, a true legend and an absolute animal of a Striker, bet he's buzzing with our signings and what we are about to become, HOWAY THE LADDSSSSS!!! TOON ARMY!!
Need a true number 9 again .. could Newcastle tempt harry Kane, Calvert lewin or haaland ?
Shame we're owned by the Saudis now though. Sad day for the club imo.
im a liverpool fan, but this is the best center forward who has ever played the game (for his club and his country). much respect.
Yeah, Shearer could've play for massive clubs around Europe like Real Madrid, Barcelona and AC Milan to earn more money and glory yet he choose to stay in England, He could've play for the more successful Man United yet he choose his boyhood club. Just a shame Newcastle failed to win any trophy at their best form.
Thank you. Every bangs on about Rooney and Henry but they hit 30 years old and went to USA to... eerrmmm... yyeehhaahh?
Sam D'Cruz rate him along some of the absolute great no. 9 but the one who rises above all others for me is Ronaldo (brazil ofc)
@@mac5917 What he (Ronaldo Brazil) did in then the strongest league in the world (Italy) is nothing short of phenomenal, we're talking about some of the best goalkeepers and defenders of that era, in prime goalkeepers Walter Senga, Peruzzi, Sebastiano Rossi, in prime defenders Paolo Maldini, Ciro Ferrara, Costacurta, Donadoni, Thuram (was past his prime in Barcelona really)..... just to name a few. Literally every team had at least one extremly capable defender in that League, even Parma had Sebastian Frey in goal and Fabio Cannovaro for 2 seasons before Juventus got him....ah those were the days. The English Premier League is pretty much now were 80s-90s Serie A was, everyone wanted to go play in Italy at the time, everyone wants to go play in England now :)
An absolute pile driving goal scoring machine, great man and what a legend!!!
Total respect, loyal, brave, humble, professional just one of a kind. hated him playing against us but he was the best true premiership striker there has ever been. A nice bloke as well.
"“I know at first hand how fierce the gladiatorial battles are between a striker and defenders. So, to maintain your performance as a top class goalscorer over a long period of time takes phenomenal dedication, self belief and enormous willpower. If you then throw in a number of serious injuries...how many? Three? And for the man to still be producing at the highest level is really an amazing feat. After a match against Juventus I met Alex Del Piero who like myself could only speak in the most glowing of terms about Shearer. He’d terrorised the Juve defenders when the clubs met in Newcastle. They found him one of the most difficult opponents they had ever faced. The coach Marcello Lippi had been purring about Shearer’s performance. So much so that his strikers Alex, David (Trezeguet) and Marcelo (Salas) were ordered to take home videos and study Shearer’s display.” - Gabriel Batistuta on his admiration of Shearer, February 2003
Sorry Steve but Hughie Gallacher (Hugh Kilpatrick Gallacher) was probably the first Number 9 legend, with 143 goals in just 174 games for the club. (0.81 goals per game.) He was a centre forward at only five foot five inches on his tiptoes and helped us win the first division in 1927. I was born in 1959 after Hughie died and even I know the song they used to sing in the stands about him. Such was his beloved stature in the region. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hughie_Gallacher#Newcastle_United "Wee Hughie Gallacher, the little Scots lad." "The best centre forward, N'castle ever had." Allan Shearer was most certainly better as an all round centre forward but with 148 gaols in 303 games = 0.488 per game.
As a suffering Sunderland fan i think he's the best center forward I've ever seen.
Centre* You're welcome.
At least u appreciate it bud. Tyne Wear derby nobody understands. Equivalent to Cold War
Agreed, still the best striker I’ve ever seen MUFC 👍
Him and Romario.. The bests
Robert Barrass feel sorry for ya even though ye support Sunderland
put prime shearer in todays market and I reckon your looking close to a 200m transfer fee, one of the best finishers ever to have played the game , all while being a down to earth nice fella
Its a shame how entire Europe do not give more credit to shearer. He should be recognised as one of the bestbof all time.
💯
Total legend and I feel honoured to have been able to see him play regularly for newcastle
Would have loved him at man United. Best striker to ever play in the premier league
Last of the "old fashioned" strikers, brave, strong and deadly. I was gutted when he did not sign for Utd but I now understand why and I applaud his integrity. I doubt we will ever see another Shearer and that is a pity.
Gonna be honest, I think haaland is the closest. Kane was never as pacey as shearer (prior to his injury)
That bloody volley...Geordie boys have been very lucky.
Best centre forward ever plain and simple.
Paul Bradley deluded newcastle fans 😂😂😂
Motor City Cobra harry kane
Motor City Cobra kane's Obviously better, newcastle has the most deluded fanbase in england.
Motor City Cobra kane's Obviously better,
Motor City Cobra when kane breaks the record (which he's gonna do) i will tell you
We were so close to the title, went on some amazing cup runs and had some class nights in the champions league. The greatest number 9 to ever play the game. Legendary. Big Al number 9.
Thanks for the upload. I am a liverpool fan but in all honesty this guys was one of the worlds best. I loved watching shearer play. powerful consistent and loyal no flashy crap needed. Best memories of shearer are euro 96 best england side never to win watching him and gazza destroy teams was a pleasure LEGEND
Aye, certainly knew where the 'Back of the Net' was. Made GK's look powerless.
My hero and absolutely love this man! Proper Legend and greatest English footballer ever!
Sir Bobby Robson is one of the greatests ever.
Bring him back to be coach for Newcastle United under the new owners. Give him a chance to redeem himself. He deserves it.
Wish big shearer was still playing coz we need a home town lad like him again
@1919 ER Newcastle were going down anyway, Shearer just couldn't halt the slide. The damage had been done long before he became manager. That's like saying Allan Clarke took Leeds down in 1982.
Alan Shearer simply loves goals. He's a wonderful example of the generation when everyone wanted to be an out-and-out striker. Now the kids want to be a False 9 or a Raumdeuter thanks to Messi and CR7 but football is cyclical and there is demand again for classic No. 9s.
His Job was so simple get in the box’s and score goals. Andy Cole and Shearer are my favourites
Strikers like Shearer are rare As rocking horse shit dont think we will ever see one like him again,so envious of the geordies the jammy bastards👍
Alan Shearer is the Totti of English football
Totti has a world cup tho
@@alennalic8441 true
He had a hell of strike on him.. he was a great header of the ball.. his positioning was superb.. but i will always remember shearer for having the heart of lion! what a player he was
Best striker in premiership/premier league history ✊
Henry was better
Lee Scott , that’s disrespecting the premier league. Picking a winger as the best striker 🤣
@@Lahmekful started off as a winger then turned to a striker he was a more all round player than shearer
Lee Scott now your making sense, a better all round player, but not a better striker, and I hope you know the difference.
@@Lahmekful shearer was in the premier league far longer than henry he would of easily beat shearers record if he stayed
The greatest 9 of all time.
Wow ! 1995 was a dream I had been hoping for, for decades, and My dreams came true , all at once.I was brought up believing Jimmy Greaves was the worlds best striker, Well he was back then, But For me, Shearer is a bloody modern day legend !!
True Toon legend Alan Shearer always be my favourite player for Newcastle United
Dalglish is certainly a genius. I still remember my Liverpool fans said "no wonder Blackburn Rovers won the league, Dalglish has changed side". Shearer is a great footballer, his character and discipline remind me of the great British General Montgomery; tactical, precise and know his game plan very well. England has lacked great players like him over the past decades. Perhaps prolific and characteristically solid players like Owen, Shearer, Gerard, Beckham, Scholes, Ince, Platt, Sherringham and Pearce comes only every 20 years.
I just enjoy this video again and again. As a Latin American with some UK experience, I have great memories of EURO 96 and that so strong English squad. Myself, unfortunately unable to see Alan live at EPL stadiums. But....what an attitude and strength on the pitch. A clinical finisher.... Respect to Alan.😉👏👏
Best Striker I ever seen
He scored sooo many goals.
Shearer wasnt the fastest but he could do everything, headed goals, penaltys, free kicks, volleys from 20 yards out, captain his club and country , tap ins
R.I.P. Sir Bobby Robson.
Great & passionate footballers like shearer deserve to win multiple trophies... but i guess winning it with blackburn overtakes so many of the big clubs success. To win it with them is a once in a lifetime, thats what makes it unique.
i miss Sir Bobby a lot I'm a fan of Newcastle since my childhood days.. i don't know why but i love them so much especially Sir Bobby and Shearer...
What a player best we have had, combative, good with his head good with both feet and so many goals playing for not the biggest teams going. And humble I remember when someone said is football hard work he said "No my dad worked in the ship yards that's hard work " Love to meet him and say hello.
Love the arm in the air celebration! Love that he puts it as an emoji on all his texts more! (Watch Michael McIntyre send to all, hilarious)
he shouldnt hv retired frm England squad so early .. i believe in the modern era he was the best English striker of all ...........
He retired to prolong his club career, yet another sacrifice for his beloved Newcastle
Great striker, his best years were in Blackburn though
dont be insane shearer's best was at newcastle
@@whitetroutchannel At Blackburn he scored 112 goals in 138 league games; at Newcastle he scored 148 in 303. How about assists? 41 assists from open play in 138 league games for Blackburn, and 69 in 303 for Newcastle. The only season when he played at the peak of his powers for Newcastle was his very first one. After that, he did his ligaments in a pre-season friendly ahead of the 1997-98 season and lost his pace and explosiveness. He was still a very good striker, just not the great one he was during his incredible 4 seasons at Blackburn (and, again, the first one at Newcastle). Sometimes a myth is one thing and facts point in another direction.
Blackburn Fan and what he did for the club was a joy to watch!!! him and Kenny Danglish ill never forgot there time at the club!!
Brilliant striker
Alan will never be properly appreciated as the best there was in the 90s, 2 prime seasons out to injury and also playing on them mouldy and bobbly pitches to score 260 goals is just to show how good he actually was.
Just the fact that winning the league with Blackburn rovers is a great accomplishment
By God,he knew how to score goals,he was robbed of two seasons through serious injuries, which robbed him of his pace, one of the all time great strikers.
When you think he lost a good 3 seasons to serious injuries, put another 100 goals to his total . Best premier league forward ever.
msec Ses if he had went to Man U he would of scored double the goals and would 100% be at the top of every list because he went to Newcastle and played with mediocre players he only scored a mere 148 goals in 302 apps and retired as record goal scorer with 260 goals in the premier league people like you say he top 5 who in your mind are the 4 ahead of him .....had he played for man u Liverpool arsenal he would of doubled that and anyone with a brain and no bias would know that
@msec Ses he is the best because he holds the record for most goals in the prem league therefore alan shearer is the best striker in modern premier league history stat.
whitetroutchannel he held the record. It’s no longer his, unfortunately.
@@Razaron Yeah true,I mean he never played for the top teams, man Utd,arsenal,Liverpool, if he would have, who knows how many goals he would have scored?,after keegan went he carried nufc under numerous managers, the complete package, a truly quality no9.

He's the very definition of "Stoic".. ...and also, "Legend".
The days of good honest young English players coming through are over sadly. The likes of Alan Shearer, Michael Owen, Robbie Fowler, Steven Gerrard, Frank Lampard and the Man Utd boys will probably never happen again. Purely because at 15 - 16 they now get purchased by the rich clubs and left to rot. Not to mention when a good young player does come through they don't get game time. The ones that do make it are already multi-millionaires by the time they are 18 and have nothing to strive for. RIP real football.
