I agree, the greatest game ever. I remember playing GTA 4 thinking "So can I work out? Can I ride a bike? No? Can I wield a katana? No? How about using multiple hand to hand disciplines? No?" It seemed like such a huge step backwards. All of the other GTA games after SA seems like they took themselves way too seriously.

@@theoneandonly25 all true but it wasn't fun. It wasn't a bad game. I'm sure many other GTA players welcomed the switch to a more grounded realistic approach but I play games to experience something I can't do in real life like drive tanks and supercars not to play darts and go bowling. I liked Niko, the story, and the setting and graphics were incredible but I only played that game once but all the other GTA's before I played multiple times.

San Andreas is actually the reason i started playing guitar, when i was a kid! Radio X was on, "Welcome To The Jungle" started playing and i was blown away by a relentless, grooving, raw sound, which introduced me to the man in leather pants, sunglasses, cigarette in mouth and tophat on head.... Slash!! 16 years after, im still playing guitar and trying to get better. I was making good money, playing solo gigs and such, but since C19 hit, i cant make money of music anymore. So that sucks big time... But im still grateful that i have guitar in my life and its all thanks to San Andreas! Thank You, Rockstar Games! Thank You, San Andreas! Thank You, Radio X! And Thank You, Slash!

Me and my sister are playing through Shadow Hearts Covenant. We just finished the first disc today. Easily one of the best RPGs ever made. The transformations, the story, the battle mechanics: everything about it is memorable and fun to play through. Once you learn how to navigate it, you'll be surprised how rapidly you gain skills and abilities to completely decimate everything in your path. Played it with my brother around the time it came out and it still holds up today.

Mcgriffin67 But hey atleast the story in IV was better and had a much better protagonist. IV is still a worthy successor imo.
@@fica1137 Well I think console games were lot better in 2004 than back then, so thats why I dont rate those years nearly as high as 2004 or some other years from past 2 decades.
@@zeliph Ye I agree that 2007 and 2010 especially were great years as well, I actually rank then 2nd and 3rd best years after 2004. I have to say from recent years I can judge much at all due to lack of time to play newer games and having such big backlog of older games im mainly focused on. But still when I look at how many biggest games of its generation/biggest games of all time were released in 2004 and look the years after in my opinion it cant really be rivaled. Especially because PC lost its place as platform that many big games would be exclusively developed for.
Sly 2: Band of Thieves. My favorite video game of all time!
Great game. This era was truly unique and I miss it
“Home sweet home... least it was before I fucked everything up” .... instant flashbacks bro
No it's "Grove Street home"
The *BURNOUT* series will always be one of my favorite racing games. 😎❤️🔥
burnout revenge 4 LIEFFFF
Prince of Persia: Warrior Within Great combat, awesome soundtrack 10/10
And running from Dahaka... definitely my favourite PoP. F*ck Ubisoft for milking Assassins Creed instead of making new Prince of Persia.
Damn the nostalgia......one of my favourite games of all time
GTA San Andreas was amazing that’s my favorite GTA game ever period I Love everything from cheats to story
I bet you never tried racking up criminal rating.
2004 and 2007 are the best years in gaming history. Those years immediately come to mind when the convo comes up. funny how specific this video is to actual conversations I've had between friends! Cheers
Ratchet & Clank 3, Sly 2, Jak 3, Viewtiful Joe 2. It was a good year for platformer style games as well.
2004 was the best gaming year of my life. Never seen this many amazing games released back to back since. A time when picking game of the year was the hardest choice.
ye if you ask me 2004 STILL is the best year ever in gaming. So many of the most important/greatest games of the decade were released back then.
50cent bulletproof is one to talk about
The real OG of that year!
love how eminem was in it and was a undercover cop. amazing game to play if your bored.
That came out in 2005 not 04
Dr Dre selling guns out his van. How times change eh.
@@silas.anderson wait eminem was on it? I played it and didn't notice???? What was I doing with my life
Oh my god!!! Thats one of the best videos I've seen in awhile! You nailed it with the games I'm sure there are more we both missed. I played every single game here except vampire and Riddick I absolutely love your game list!!
It's been ages since I heard that snake eater song, had to find it and listen the whole song. It still gives me goose bumps 😊
Best boss fight ever
And to this day ps2 is still has the best library compared to current gen for all consoles.
Nah that's Gamecube

@@stagnantlasagna gamecube is such an amazing console even though I have started playing ps4 deep down I will always be a nintendo fan
"All we had to do was follow the damn train CJ" Aww I miss those days..
POINTBREAK 125 hated that mission
I was 11 during this game and could not beat that mission....still one of the best games I ever played
I finished playing all Half Life from the first to Episode Two a few days only . God if i played it when i was a child i would have been just blown away by the story and graphics especially Half life 2 . This is one of the greatest games of all times clearly . And still an amazing game to be played in 2020
"Sims 2 went on to have 8 expansions." 2004 me: No way. 8 expansions?!? 2020 me: Meh, only 8 expansions.
Howre you going to talk about San andreas' radio stations and not talk about radio x? Cult of personality, guns and roses, rage against the machine Soundgarden, Alice in chains, OZZY!!!
This is exactly what I was going to say.
And k'dst - k'rose for me Turns out the sound track is so good it appeals to all preferences
Alex Martinez CSR was the shit too
Gardening with Maurice. Voiced by Andy Dick. Kifflom
@@tinatpasselepoivre literally my go to radio stations and i just restarted on ps4 pro
I absolutely loved playing Burnout 3: Takedown as a kid. I also played a bit of Need For Speed: Underground 2 but I couldn't figure out how to play the game well so I gave up quickly.
Haven’t heard of any one these, I’m a time traveler from 1992
That was a good year
@@jeremyblackwater439 I am amazed at the internet
@@bsl1524 yeah...don’t let it suck you in though.
Do u ride a delorean?
Prince of Persia Warrior Within is what you have forgotten
Damn! I forgot how loaded 2004 was. I played almost all of these and man....... I didn't realize it all came out in the same year.
There was so many great games came out in 2004. Thief 3: The Deadly shadows & Splinter Cell: Pandora Tomorrow are also some of the best.
A personal favorite of mine from that year has to be Hitman: Contracts. Such an underrated game. And it perfectly set up Blood Money.
10:33 K-DST radio all the way..Gotta love the classics. But basically every radio station was pure gold on that game.
San Andreas was the greatest game in 2004, no doubt.
For sure. If they had about another year to work on it, it probably would be the best game of the next 15 years. I mean to me it I'd obviously but imagine if they did everything they planned on San Andreas
It's really no contest. That game is legendary!
@@isaacster5027 Yeah. I agree. GTA IV would be a competition though in the GTA series.
YUSS
Yessir
2004 was indeed a fantastic year for gaming. This and 2011 are stuck in my mind as the two best in my gaming life
This was an excellent list, I'm genuinely impressed at the picks when I saw Battlefront 1 on the list I knew we were in for a good time.
Surprised that Doom 3 didn't even get an honorable mention...
Gavwav What you saying, he forgot far cry 1!
what about LEGO Star wars
@@flippinfudgeyt That was 2005
Such nostalgia feeling that pure feeling of love with the graphics characters eyes
Good list bro! ☺ missed seeing some of these graphics.
Paper Mario The Thousand Year Door is my all time favorite game from 2004! Jak 3, ratchet and clank 3 and Metroid Prime 2 also really comes close
I love San Andreas gta all the way. I still played ps2 console 2020❤️❤️❤️
Yesss period
Yea homie , GTA da 4 Lyfe
Damn u r lucky my ps2 broke, I miss my ps2😭
Pikachu likes Gambling thanks
This reminded me of how good of a game year 2004 was. Snake eater and Half-Life 2 alone makes it one of the best, if not the best in my opinion.
GTA SA, Def Jam Fight For NY, Need For Speed Underground 2 were some of the best games that came in 2004
2004 just might be my favorite year in gaming and I've been playing since 1991 with the SNES..I can't fault this list for the most part but one glaring omission is Ratchet&Clank Up Your Arsenal..that game is truly a masterpiece and the fact that insomniac was able to release Ratchet & Clank year after year from 02-05 made it even more impressive because All of them were great but up your arsenal was and still is the best ratchet & clank imo
Who remembers “The Suffering” for PS2 And XBOX?
I remember the PC version, as i only played it a few days ago in 4K. 😎
Oh man I remember it and absolutely loved it! First played it on a demo disc at a friend's house during a sleepover when I was a kid. The demo was the opening of the game. It scared the HELL out of me and I thought it was so cool. The sequel was good too, but not as good as the first. Imo
If it’s not here, the not Gameranx
@@Leeanardis The developers went bankrupt in 2010. The game was released by Midway games, which have also gone bankrupt. So it is highly unlikely we will see another one, ever. ☹
This was an amazing year for games. Omg I just graduated from high school. Got my first my job and bought these games. Most of them, wait, where’s Fight For NY?!
Love this series. Can't wait to see what's on the list for 2005.
10:31 K-DST was where it was at for me man. Got me even more into rock music! 🤘
Just to mention, Metroid Zero Mission and Metroid 2 Echoes. What can I do, I owned a GBA and a GameCube :)
There is a new legend in town, a Macho Ma'am with golf club.
Honorable mentions for me atleast : Far Cry (1) Doom 3 Need for Speed: Underground 2 The Lord of the Rings: The Battle for Middle-earth Rome: Total War (1) Honestly 2004 is like one of the best game years for me. Seems like some chip upgrade or programing language caused this video game revolution aswell as devs giving a damn about their product back in the day.
Jak and Daxter continues to be disgustingly underrated. Come on, Jak 3 is easily one of the best games of the 2000s.
So was Ratchet and Clank Up your Arsenal (going commando too in an earlier year) and he skipped those too, smh. 6th gen was amazing can't list everything
Being born in 96, this is what's up.
The whole gaming world demands an MGS 3 remake
No, mgs1
Mg snakes revenge and metal gear remake first
Remember the rumors about Sony trying to convince Konami to give them the rights? This could mean something if they are true...
FarCry 1, DooM 3, NFSU2, Half Life 2, CS Source, GTA San Andreas, Sims 2, MGS3, Halo 2, KOTOR 2. This should have been top 10
- Silent hill 4: The Room - And way too many GBA games...
True! Gran Turismo 4 also..
The Greatest Gaming year of ALL TIME. Period
And we're back at it again, with games released when I was just 2 years old. The weird thing is that I know most of the games on the list! I started playing console games when I was 6-7 years old and transitioned to PC when I was around 14 years old.
Ali107 I was 13, smoking blunts and playing San Andreas lol ohh good times
I was a sophomore in college. I got GTA SA on release day. For a straight week, all day and night, I saw so many people I didn’t even know, in my dorm, hanging out either watching or playing the game. To this day it’s the only GTA game I haven’t beaten...my campus hall beat it for me...
10 - The X-Files: Resist or Serve (As a fan of horror games, this one really surprised me in a good way) 9 - Vampire The Masquerade: Bloodlines (Want to play as a vampire? This is how it’s done; I’m looking at you “Dracula” franchise) 8 - Doom 3 (Huge departure from the previous games, but it was right up my horror alley) 7 - Baldur’s Gate: Dark Alliance II (First time I played a game as a Necromancer and this game nailed it) 6 - Far Cry (So different from anything else I had seen before; been hooked on open environment shooters ever since) 5 - Silent Hill 4: The Room (So freaking twisted; just the way I like it) 4 - The Suffering (Using the first person option, it plays mostly like a horror shooter) 3 - Ghosthunter (This is Ghostbusting done right) 2 - Myst IV: Revelation (Jaw droppingly gorgeous and so fun; another franchise that I can’t believe is in limbo) 1 - Half-Life 2 (Can’t think of a single thing I don’t like about this game; not one)
Damn, Escape from Butcher Bay is still one of my favorite games of all time. I would've probably swapped that with WoW since I didn't get into that until college (2009-10).
i was wondering why the comments section wasnt loading up
Yeah wtf
Me seeing GTA San Andreas Me: Ah shit here we go again
Warrior within was the best game for that Era, mechanics, combat, story everything was top notch
You definitely weren't a Nintendo fan back in 2004, they had some of my favorite games ever that year. Your list is totally fine though. I agree with a good chunk of it. I always felt that 2004 was a year to remember. Tons of great games, movies, music, TV, and so much more. A top ten list just isn't enough to do it justice.
I loved burnout 3, then one day the disk didn't work and I couldn't play it 😭😭
GTA: SA and Halo 2 some of the best 2004 games
ikr
I've heard for years that Halo 2 was the best of the best. I didn't know it was that old haha.
This is nuts, I have played ever game on this list (including the honorable mentions) and couldn't agree with your choices more. The only game not on the list that comes too mind too me is Condemned to blood shot. Other then that, amazing video man!!
Fable was a game changer. I'll love that game forever. I owned every game on this list as they came out. I loved Driv3r for the fact that it let you record long in game replays from different angles. I remember trying to make the perfect route through the city barely missing cars and people. I think it was really a secondary feature, but it was a big deal to me at the time.
2004 was a good year for gaming one gem ppl glide over is The Suffering one of the best horror games
Yes! I bought a copy back in 2018 when I bought a slim and it still holds up till this day, my favorite horror game ever
“I’ll Take A Number 9” -Big Smoke
-Big Smoke
-A number 9 large...
This is definitely the best year gaming has ever seen. I'm not saying any one of these games is the absolute best game of all time, but the sheer amount of absolute fucking classics that came out in 2004, no other year has come anywhere close to this.
In 2004 I was playing Command and Conquer Generals, NFS Underground 2, Lineage 2 and Heroes IV
I miss my family on Sims 2 sooo bad, we had our first girl ever born into the family. It was the first time I ever had twins in any of the other families I created, I found a tip on how to get them, I didn't think it would work but it did. (Sighs) I miss my Sims... 😞
Personally, I would add Silent Hill 4 and Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines to the list.
one of the best & greatest years ever! people are so focused on making so called futuristic buggy "not fun" kinda stuff, a game can have dated graphics but can also be the most fun you will ever have in your life. This whole period of gaming is a testament to that
2007 was also an amazing year: Halo 3, BioShock, COD 4: Modern Warfare, Super Mario Galaxy, Uncharted 1, Crysis, Portal, Mass Effect...
Fable, WoW and Half-Life 2. My god. All of my favorite. I'm still playing Classic WoW and I love it.
