Derek Carr is entering his ninth season with the now-Las Vegas Raiders, looking to go on a big playoff run after a Wild Card elimination last season against the Cincinnati Bengals. Carr is in a division with arguably the most competitive QBs in the NFL but is the most underrated? Colin Cowherd defends Carr. Meanwhile, the New England Patriots' preseason kicks off this week against the New York Giants but Bill Belichick is reportedly not playing any starters, including Mac Jones. Hear what Colin has to say about the Patriots' new offensive mindset.

  • Everyone talkin down on Carr, keep in mind this dude has had a new coach damn near every two years, average/ below average WR’s, and statistically the Raiders defense has been the worst in last 20 years. I’d like to see any other QB overcome the ruggs situation, coach being fired in the middle of the season, losing two starting Oline men for the year, and one of the worst defenses in the league, and STILL get your team to the playoffs!

    • You could also say the reason Carr has a new head coach almost every season is because he couldn't play well enough to keep his head coaches. With the exception of Gruden who self-imploded, everyone else couldn't win enough to keep their jobs. And the starting QB and leader of the team shares some blame.

DC has been slept on for awhile, 2016 was his best year and the team was on the way to the AFC Championship at the least, until he broke his leg. The guy has never had a true #1 wideout besides a young Amari Cooper who really didnt want to be there. Multiple coaching changes and system changes, and has still put numbers up. Carr is doing most than his fair share to keep the Raiders competitive... But Qb's play is not the only factor for a team to win or lose...There has been plenty of very average Qb's in NFL story going far in the playoffs for a variety of reason, although mostly a combo of strong running game and great D. • To be fair to the Patriots, they were 7-9 in 2020, and 10-7 and play-off team in 2021. Colin acted like they didn't improve after spending a lot in the preseason leading up to the 2021 season. They clearly did improve.

  • Completion percantage is high because he's throwing to t.e.s and r.b.s 80 percent of the time for 5 years straight.Come from behind is subjective, field goal at 6 minute mark of fourth quarter considered game winning drive .He is top 10 though, and should put up some yards this year with Devante.

  • Collin says that the patriots dont draft the offense that well and I'll admit they have been bad a at drafting WR and TE lately, but they draft the o-line amazing and are good at find mid draft Rbs. Damian Harris and Rhmondre Stevenson were both 3rd round picks. On top if that look at the O-line out side of Wynn and strange who are first rounders all of the startes on the o-line over the last 5 years have been late round gems. Mason and Thuney who are both unfortunately not on the team any more were both 5th rounders and some of the best guards in the league. Owenu who I think is one of the best and most underrated young guards in the league at the moment was 6th rounder. Even though we didn't draft him trent brown was a 7th. And David Andrews a good veteran center was undrafted. I don't understand how thag doesn't constitue as good drafting just because they weren't high round picks? Plus while it may be considered a no Brainer, taking Mac Jones was a good pick
