  • “The difference between stumbling blocks and stepping stones is how you use them.” Unsure of who who said these words, but I wanted to point out that both of you are building something very wonderful, and we in the thousands are rooting for you. Thank you for sharing your creativity and knowledge, and many blessings sent for your journey.

  • When my husband and I moved from Chicago to Wi. in 1976. We had 20 acres, built a 40x40 pole shed. As I packed, husband made at least 10 - 12 loads of boxes, furniture and stuff. He filled the pole shed with all our stuff. When I finally got to our new home, I thought the pole shed would be all finished. I walked in, and was shocked, our pole shed looked like a warehouse full of boxes, furniture and stuff, what a mess. We managed to make a little room, hanging plastic up and a LP gas furnace to keep us warm (this was the middle of November) at the time we had 3 dogs, so there we were on a twin size bed, husband and I and 3 dogs trying to keep warm. But you know what....those were good times that I will never forget. You will remember this new move with the good times you had and will have. We are now on our last journey as I will be putting my husband into a nursing home this week. "I was young, now I am old and I have never seen the righteous forsaken by God." He always takes care of us.

  • Hi Peter and Anna, thank you for the update. You are both doing so well in your preparations and I must say that someone must be watching over you with the way you've managed to get sorted out with interim arrangements for the 🐈 and chickens near your new home and I'm really glad about that. Before I go, Miss Anna, I couldn't help noticing that your hair looks absolutely lovely. You give Peter so many reasons to have a smile on his face every day. Bless you both.

  • Thanks for keeping us updated. We are all making the trips with you, so just think of us as angels sitting on your shoulders as your hauling your goodies. I have driven all over France alone, so am familiar with all the roads . . . I feel like I’m traveling along with you. I remember when I downsized also, I had methodically labeled all my boxes which room to go into . . . and my brother just ignored my labels and put all the boxes in the living room, which made it nearly impossible to even function for months, when all of the kitchen utensils are in the box behind a wall of boxes of books. So I really empathize ♥️❗️

  • You two are lovely! I’ve been watching since you 1st started your blog, I’ve enjoyed shopping with you dancing, decorating meeting your new French friends the music they shared. My mother was a singer in the 1940’s when my dad came back from service we sing many of them. I in turn taught my daughter to day we still sing and remember , I’m now 78 and my heart loves big band era dancing, singing and the merriment that you two wonderful people have shared. Thank you! Don’t go for long your needed. One thing I forgot to mention , your talent in DIY, design and letting that wonderful old chateau know that it wasn’t ready for the wreaking ball. One more thing again the costumes WOW, I love love love you two do you think I’m kidding..... can’t wait for a new house you bring life and Paz zz into.... I’ll keep following ... I’m not through with my love affair yet. Sincerely peni prince

  • This packing and moving thing seems very arduous indeed. How I wish you had close friends or family helping you in the process. Packing and moving is hard enough when it’s a one day move with professional movers- but you are doing Everything completely by yourselves on multiple 3 day rounds. ! I’m exhausted just thinking about it! Yet there you are, plugging away, being good natured and persevering as you get things sorted. Well done, friends. Blessings to that wonderful hotel owner that is being so kind! Give him a cameo so we can all send our respects, and hopefully pay the kindness forward by booking a stay there someday. I’m with you Anna; another 1/2 hr of travel is worth avoiding that death trap ride through the forest. Hang in there friends, get as much sleep as you can when you can. Before you know it, it will all be behind you. Looking forward to exploring a whole new part of France with you soon enough.

  • I feel for you guys so much. I had to drive our 7 m camper the 300 km when we moved from Brittany to just north of Poitiers, my husband drove his motorbike, then we had to bring the car and vans etc .We moved in stages too and stored stuff in barns ahead of time. I was traumatised by the small roads and gravelly edges too. I think you are moving quite near to us, we might be able to help you, unload, store stuff, park your caravan at our house or house hens or bring hot food !! Just ask.it is beautiful here though and I love living here, no regrets, it was worth the exhaustion xxx

I downsized and could only keep maybe half of my furniture and other items, most went to a young single mom I look at as an adopted daughter. Big changes aren’t usually easy but we never know when a new journey comes our way. At least you have each other to lean on, take care.

  • Such a shame you can’t rent your new house as well as the barn if it’s empty, or at least live in the caravan in the garden in the interim. We were able to do this when we moved to France and it saved a lot of money and faffing about. Miss Anna, I’m relieved to see that I’m not the only wife who queries the “cable drawer” contents! If we were still in France I would be offering to help out, but all I can do is send positive vibes to you during this, the worst part, of any move. Thank you for keeping us updated…..we are all cheering you on from the sidelines! Bisous xx

  • Have you considered moving your furniture and more by using a sea container? I have moved twice in that way and found it very easy and far cheaper than doing multiple trips with smaller vans (myself) and also cheaper than hiring a moving company. The container is dropped off at your place, you fill it up and several hours later it is locked/sealed and taken away. Then brought over to a temporary 'container parking' or your new address. Bonus is you don't have to pack and unload twice. Everything can be transported in one go. I used a 40 cubic meter container which is also called a half container, the equivalent of about 1 standard garage box. Of course there are also 60 and 80 cubic meter containers. You still do the packing yourself (with friends or hired youth?), but you don't have to do multiple trips. The costs are the insurance and the transport. This is calculated by size container, distance, loading and unloading times and, in your situation, days of 'parking'. After loading the container you can drive your jeep with caravan over to the hotel. Far more relaxed I think. What ever way you do your house move, I wish you all the energy and strength you need for it. Bon courage.

We only moved from a village house to a just out of the village house and used hired vans from Intermarché and that took at lot of crying, swearing and ibrufene gel! Four trips to the déchèterie too. You are really working hard. It’ll certainly be entertaining when you pack the chickens.

  • OOph such an arduous task. The best bit will be living in the caravan for 9 days as you will have to rest because you won't be able to do anything else! Use that time if you can to have some well earned fun! Honestly guys I feel for you, you both look exhausted. Keep your chins up, not too long to go now, and drive carefully! Hugs xxx

  • Love you both , please keep eating healthy . I had no idea how complex the move was going to be ,wow! It'll be a huge relief and weight off your minds when you get to the hotel. Then another relief when you take possession of the new house. I'm glad that you are headed south, the last winter looked brutal to me. I hope you are going to enjoy better weather ? For all I know it may be miserably hot. Anyway God bless you both ❣️❣️❣️

  • Thank you for the update, I remember some 55 years ago the sellers letting us put our belongings in the house but we couldn’t stay there until the sale was final. We had to move out of our apartment. So we took a trip for that week. Scary but it all worked out.

  • Thanks guys, it's hard enough to move, let alone driving such along way on top of it, several times. Just keep your minds on the end goal. Look forward to seeing you settle into your new place. Glad Anna still hasn't lost her fabulous giggle. Love it. Take Care 💝

  • You guys are great at the vlogging even if you’re newbies. It’s always interesting to see what you’re up to even the packing and moving. It’s close now, soon you will be past the trauma of moving and settling into your new place and new adventure, it’s going to be sooo exciting guys! I wish you well with the move and hope all runs smoothly and looking forward to your next video. ❤️

  • Oh my! we complete on the 16th of July too but we plan to leave Ireland one week early 🤞. This is a serious offer, you can stay with us until you complete. We are approximately 1 hr south west of Tours near Loudun. We have the space and would be delighted to help. It would be a repayment for keeping up our spirits while we were unable visit during Covid.

  • (Moira Ashton) Oh my goodness ! I feel exhausted for you! What long journeys you have ahead of you, so pleased you have the animals sorted though, at least you don't have to worry about them while you are moving, what is it with men and cables, I cleared miles of wires etc when husband died. He kept them "just in case".. thank you for the update- I hope when you do move , you can take it easy for a bit.. it's such a big move. Good luck for the next few weeks to go smoothly for you! Love and hugs to you both! (Loved the South African accent Peter!) 🥰 xxxxx

  • I'll be thinking of you both, and geeing you both on. It's a big upheaval and a big change but it's also another big adventure you 2 are going on, and I'm sure further on down the line you will look back on this time and say (well we did it) 💪💪 as you sit in your rocking chair looking over your lake, sighing in contentment 🥰🥰🥰
