Every time i see these dolls, I always think I like them and then when I’m about to pick one up, I come to my senses and realize that the price is not justifiable for what I get.

Funny thing is, in my country, these are a bit cheaper than the rainbow high, i just saw Daphne for 39€ and one mermaze for less than that
I want to start by saying that the faces and hair of these dolls is absolutely beautiful. They are SO pretty! Beyond that, however, I have issues with these. For $30+ it’s shocking to me that only one mermaid has tail articulation (and even it appears limited at best), and they can’t even bend at the waist. These are not the first ever mermaid dolls to be made…a lot of the heavy lifting has been done, so it’s disappointing to be offered a semi-premium doll sporting such obvious flaws. Aesthetically, I’m also just not a fan of molded on clothing…especially for a “collectors edition” doll. I’m excited about the line, but am holding out until MGA makes some major improvements. 😬
I think they mixed up the term collector with playline when labeling Orra. 😅 With no clothing, brushable hair, color change feature & glitter glue she's clearly meant to be played by younger kids.

I will never understand why we don’t go back to the rubber tails that had awesome articulation and the fins where actually rubber and didn’t look cheap. Does anyone remember the Barbie mermaid fantasy dolls? I want those types of mermaid dolls❤️ I really don’t like the plastic tails.
Probably because they don't hold up. Those are my favorite mermaid dolls, but the rubber peels at the joints, and it's hard to find one in good condition.

A rubber tail is better, for sure, but I disagree with the fins. The rubber fins broke too easily and don't stand as well as the hard plastic ones.
The best mermaid doll ever! The silicone tails on the Barbie fantasy were most realistic looking and they moved the most like a mermaids. As a mermaid and doll fan they were by far the elite of mermaid dolls! ❤️
@@haleypoluchuck9752 the one that I had when I was 8 only just got ruined some 5 years ago because I let my little sister have it to play with, I'm 26 now. Those rubber tails actually do last quite a while when played with properly
I feel like their faces are 10/10. STUNNING, every single one, but everything else is just a 1/10 for me. I wish they had legs + a tail or maybe a fabric tail with articulation.
Especially since their tails look fake, except for Harmonique.

It really annoys me that she has knee articulation but the others don't. I bet they only did it because she's "collector", though I doubt it added much to the price. She's probably only that expensive because of the hair gel and the collectors title.
What in the ‘Mattel molded on fashions’ peasantry is this? Doll companies need to re-evaluate what “collector” editions mean. Once upon a time It used to actually mean something.

I wouldn't mind the price if the sculpting was of higher quality. They could have went with a doll/figurine hybrid. But I guess it would fit the whole vibe of the line and also would look quite jarring if done wrong.
If they gave them all clothes AND the tail articulation... I might get into this doll line.
I agree that she definitely should have come with more. Some sort of shawl over her dress and a bag at the very least. I gasped when I saw her in Target because of how pretty she is though. I happen to really like her but I do hope this isn't going to be a pattern with these new doll lines. She should not have cost more than the other 5. Some glitter gel doesn't make up for the lack of clothes and accessories +15 dollars imo.
She has a gorgeous face. I like her. Of course, she is not really a collector doll and she is overpriced but... she looks really impressive in her own way.

Her makeup is everything. I love how she has more darker eyeliner wish The rocker mermaid had her makeup dark like this. I do want to get her but definitely will wait until she’s on sale so I can customize her
I love her hair and face I just wish she didn’t have the hair play gels and hair glitters I could’ve lived without that and would’ve rather had accessories , a bag or more clothing pieces

I just ordered her but I agree about the cost and waited for a sale. She's so pretty though!! I'm excited that she stands on her own and honestly, without clothing she's going to be easy to keep. I love having the dolls out but time, sunlight and fresh air really are not good for them.

I feel the strong desire to do a head swap........like desperately! The face's and head is absolutely amazing! Really GORGEOUS faces! Is she worth $44.00? Hell no! But I'm glad you bought one to review. I really like the heads and faces, but the fish tail as a skirt, or skirt as a fish tail just seems very disconcerting. I just want these dolls to be a regular articulated fashion doll. Maybe that will come later. As they are, I'll wait for a sale. Great review otherwise!

It sucks that she still can't sit, but they would probably have to carve out more space at the top of her tail or change her hip joint all together to pull it off. Maybe the next wave will improve the tails more. She's pretty though and I like the bend in the "knee". Sorry you lost your doll room.
The only mermaid dolls with seamless tail & ability to sit that I know of are Disney Store's Ariel & her Sisters dolls. But they only managed to do that by making their waist extremely thin with a "plunging neckline" for the tails.
She's beautiful, but I won't get her unless she's on super clearance, or at a thrift store. The main line is $50 in Canada, so I don't even want to think about how much she's going to cost...

You know what I did to my room? Sooo I have my shelves and stuff all around my room and then I took my closet doors out and put some shelving in there but at the bottom I put in my bed or a convertible couch...

The higher price comes because of the exclusive body , you need to make extra molds to produce that new parts . To make a new mold can cost over $100000 .

Yes! Collector doll without anything… she should be the same price as the other ones or come with something special. Now hair gel may be cool for kids but that’s pretty much one time use and… useless at that amount too + what only the front changes? And the bendable tail is useless too if she still can’t sit -> only makes me thing the tail will be destroyed sooner because of the rubber

What makes her collector exactly? The doll is beautiful, but she's NOT worth $45 and tax. At least there were accessories with the other ones. MGA is really tripping with their prices.
I personally would not consider dolls under $100 as "collector dolls" . The high price comes from the exclusive new body parts that she got .... that cost really a much . A new mold can easy cost over $100000 , companies can only get the money back with a higher price .

I don't like these dolls. The fact that most of them have solid plastic tails is already a big no no for me. Either make it rubbery or fabric removable, but PLEASE don't make it solid plastic. I remember a long discontinued doll like called Moxie Girls did a Mermaid line where they could ACTUALLY swim on their own. It was pretty cool.

She's pretty but a pass for me Not a fan of the dolls although I love mermaids. No articulation in knees. Don't understand the water play feature. The outfits/ clothes are very pretty. A lot of the dolls do not stand up properly on their tails.
I wish her tail split to the side instead of to the back and front. It would look a little bit more like a natural mermaid fin

Pretty face, but I hate that they didn't give them tails that actually look like proper fish tails. I dislike the tails designed to look like fabric. It's just too much. I wouldn't have liked that as a child at all. I would have just wanted a mermaid with an actual fish-like mermaid tail. Also, they should have designed them so they could sit. Basically these dolls were a good idea with a poor execution, in my opinion.
So she's my first doll in the series so I came in with an open mind. I think she's great and a step in the right direction for the bend and snap knee (I think that's all you really need as a joint there) but what's the purpose of it if she can't sit? I assumed she and all the dolls could sit but boy was I wrong. Lol. So I guess I'll just display her standing up straight. Oh well.
She's pretty, but hardly worth the price ir the status of a collector's item. This entire line is a big pass for me, since they can't sit.

The color change doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me. I'm not a fan. Turning matte black is not aesthetically pleasing for this doll. She'd look better if it was a bright, pearlescent white change instead. Also, for $44 I expect a FULL color change, not just the front. She is very pretty though, I'll give them that. Still very overpriced.

It figures Mattle would make crappy quality like this this and charge that much… I swear this is why MGA will always be better they always have such good quality. I mean really the only good thing from Mattel is monster high but if I’m being honest they’re a bit washed out in my opinion but Barbie a totally different story she’s been around too long and the quality has gone down significantly and I never liked her for past reasons with body image problems and such I know they’re doing better but it took this long to do it.
