Just finished a binge of seven year old vids, pining for more of this. Discovered this entire game just a few weeks ago, and these casts are awesome. My new favourite thing on YT
My dude you need to get the game and try it, it is often on sale for 5$ and is one of the best RTS games ever made. Honestly one of the most amazing and dedicated gaming communities as well, they've been keeping this game going for over a decade FOR FREE (they take donations of course), it's not as hard to get into as it looks!
@@Chreeeis I second this, it's one of my favourite games of all time, and if you learn a simple build order, understand basic game mechanics like reclaim, understand that the goal of the game is to eco while building the minimum to stay alive, and scouting, you will be better than 90% of the players active in the game. As long as you don't play maps like gap of rohan, or other low skill maps where it's super easy to defend and there's no strategy involved because of very simple choke-points, you will improve very quickly. Hint: If you eco enough, and see that your opponent is behind you in eco, use your mass advantage to kill off more of their eco. Eventually you'll just have overwhelming force and crush them. The game's pretty realistic in that it is the player with the most industry and production that wins usually, barring desperate last minute plays like t1 gunship rush, tml snipes, and etc. Basically you only go for desperate plays like those when you know you've lost map control, and your economy is worse than the opposite player. (So person with more eco will try to stay alive while chipping away at enemy eco, while the player behind should just try for a gamble play. In the long run, the player that ecos will improve more and become a better player, even if they initially lose to cheese a lot).
What a great feeling discovering something with this much excitement years later so you can binge :)
I played the crap out of this game when it first came out. I remember being blown away at the scope and diversity of it. I had no idea it was still being played. Until like a few days ago. Ive been binging these videos since.

@@benjaminrobledo5466 Basically when you put so much load on a paragon that it reaches its limit on mass it can generate. Not supposed to but probably a limitation somewhere in its design

I feel so bad for AchievedJaguar. Every time I see him in one of these games, he plays so well and his team just drops the ball entirely.
Probably has to do with his rating being balanced by his teammates having a lower rating then their direct opponents, usually he is supposed to carry.

Only just discovered your channel but 4v4 on Setons is one of my favorite formats. It's my favorite map for mixed warfare with heavy navy involvement. Losing either pond can make a huge difference between winning and losing, especially when UEF is allowed to build a powerful presence of Cruisers and Battleships, allowing them to shell bases and factories almost unopposed.

I just found your channel a few days ago and have been watching tons of these setons games. I don't play FA anymore but I played enough years ago to follow along. There's something so interesting to me about these matches on seton's. They're interesting, there's always an air of familiarity to them too. I always find myself rooting for whoever looks like they're falling behind lol There's just something about this map in particular that captivates me. I don't care for any of the other maps, only this one.

Weird question, but when nukes go off why is there so much visual noise surrounding the explosions? I guess it represents sensors being overloaded by radiation?
I believe the 'visual noise' is just a visual bug. If you lower the graphics just a bit, the image just gets distorted, (you can actually see the shockwave as it moves, and right were it's at, the image distorts a bit like an object in water, it like cuts a bit if you know what I'm saying. (Stick a pencil in a glass of water, it won't 'connect, you'll know what I mean.)) and the spot gets very bright. But white and black lines? I'm pretty sure it's a bug, a bug caused by the effect stacking. A slight radiation effect overlapping with the ground texture changing from normal to a dark crater plus a white bright light. Not complaining though, it looks cool. I could be wrong though. TL:DR: I believe the visual noise is just bugged effects.
I played since SupCom one and i doubt it's a bug. Manly on the bases that if it was they would have dealt with it in the more than a decade of game being out. It'san effect you get irl while pointing a digital camera at a radioactive object, you can see the same thing in footage of "elephants foot" in Chernobyl...
I believe it represents your commander's sensors being overloaded by the radiation, as you suspect. It's definitely not a bug. You can zoom in and out of the effect (1:06:55), and you can even see that it has a set radius (kind of shown at 1:07:10). However, (on my PC at least) I sometimes see a related bug: when you pause and zoom in and out on the blast, there is sometimes a diagonal "cut" through the effect. I suspect that cut is where two adjacent map textures meet.
@@delluminatis Yeah. I usually have the game set to Max graphics but it RARELY happens on my end. I usually just get a big explosion and a shockwave lol. No white and black lines.

I really do think ASFs are a bit too OP. You shouldn't be able to take down a flying experimental with so few. Czars are already useless enough as is, without them being so easy to take down. There's no non experimental land unit which you could send 10-15 of after a ground-based experimental and expect them not to get curb stomped. I'm not including rambo support coms because their production cost puts them way out of T3 tier. You *might* be able to kill a monkeylord with 15 percies/bricks, not sure. Though I think the monkey would win if it was engaged and micro'd correctly. That's the weakest experimental against the strongest ground units though. A GC, Ythotha or megalith would all make mince meat out of 15 armored assault bots, given a proper engage and full HP.
Time to bilg watching Gyle SupCom again!...... More epic ladder 1vs1 will be great!

Is it just me, or the playerbase truly don't live with the endless possibility of custom maps. I think something is fundamentally wrong when a player only trains for a setons buildup for example. I love Gylecasts, but after so many years I'm just feeling bored right at the moment I see another Setons, Canis, Wonder game.
Setons is simply put the best map of all RTS games and people usually like to play best maps.

I get what you are saying, but thats a thing with training to be the best. You need to prove it on the place everybody knows/can understand ect. Thats why all pros usually play the same maps over and over, but each time should be slightly better = look at every pro scene in gaming. Modding, thats totally different group of players and combination of a modder and pro is quite rare for both require quite a lot of time and passion.
@@Alex13501 I've played the game a couple of years ago. Met players who were always playing setons. They've were good in eco and tactics but later realized they're pretty useless players in other maps. They were just focusing too much to smurf on that specifi map, that specific position. Of course the best players would still beat the heck out of them and that's the thing actually. To be equally good on all maps, to know the fundamentals so much you are adaptive in all cases. So I'm not convinced in this argument to be honest. Also it is just visually boring after some time. Very similar situations all the time.
@@matts2298 I think you said it yourself. Some people are just like that. In counter strike for example, some people strife to be the best with AWP on maps like dust 2. Give them anything else or different map and their skill will drop significantly. Some people just dont care for all. They just follow this narrow path. There is a reason why mobas are so popular (well, apart from the fact they are free).
SPOILERS Lovely game. I knew Achieved Jag wasn't going to go down without a fight. It's a shame his teammates couldn't hack it. I knew Mach was gonna go down as soon as he entered the ocean with all those ships around lol. Also, nuke subs are my favorite unit in the game, and we don't get to see them as often as we should. I was delighted to see Jag use one at the point at the top! I was a little sad you missed the first nuke from it Gyle, I was like "looook! Nuke lauch detected!" but none the less, great game!

The factory hq was an awful idea from the start. It makes absolutely no sense even from an in-game tech. perspective. It is purely an "artificially" added forced difficulty element. One of the ideas was to remove the need for mass engineer assist blobs on factories .. well, it didn't do much in that regard, people still use assist blobs. The other was to make tier 2 more viable between tiers 1 & 3, that could have been easily accomplished by decreasing the build cost or time of either the factories or their tier upgrades, and definitely would have made sense to allow engineers to make all factories up to their own tier level. The idea of a slightly different looking structure being able to do considerably more on its own than the "regular" versions on their own, all same tier level, is completely illogical considering the tech. level of the setting. Instead of fixing the perceived issue, they added an unnecessary difficulty element. This was the first major failure of the devs., the second was the forced Steam registrations; the latter killed faf for me.
