    • You could be an instructor of Kali in Brazil. If you can't go to US to train then you can try going to the Philippines. There are many trainers who can help you.

  • The best martial artists have a solid foundation and form of the basic strikes/blocks. Thank you for teaching these solid building blocks. Even without a partner, these techniques can be practiced by all of us when we are alone.

  • Appreciate your fine instructional. I am an older student of Goju-Ryu and now Modern Goju. I also practice a few schools of Japanese Iaido sword. In our Karate and Kobudo we have also implemented escrima/kali/arnis. From the Japanese sword standpoint, (and my very limited study of kali) I have a question ... In your number 3 and 4 cuts, (which would be 8th cut in Japanese sword - suihei - sie-to-side) we have the tip of the sword blade LEADING in the sideways cut motion - not the tip following behind the hand as you demonstrated in your slow-motion example. I know that arnis/kali/escrima is dynamic in that an excrima can be a machete, a bolo, etc. In the case of the Filipino short swords, many have a curved blade, andI respectively submit that a sideways cut is better and more effective - with a curved blade at least - when the tip of the sword (or long knife) is leading the hand, and not the hand leading the blade tip. What are your thoughts on this, from a kali standpoint? Thanks!!

  • Kids in Ph HighSchools like I was back then 1-2 years ago( I'm Year9 student abroad unfortunately), I studied Arnis as basic training and education of the government to HS kids but I had a extra class dedicated only to Arnis/Kali/Eskrima(my extraclass' teacher recruited me for national comp.).. I only now say to myself that I was lucky to get taught the basics of the national MA because in other countries you have to pay for instructors to teach you this stuff but it's free in my country... Most kids just say the subject was crap but for me it was a beautiful thing to learn in a young age.. Even though I'm heavy and chubbier than most kids, I know that I can defend my self and I have the discipline for thid dangerous MA and also I don't brag it to other people just like I'm doing now but.. ❌D I just wanted to express that nurturing the basic skills as shown in thid video can be proven useful and effectivr in our daily lives or inn our futures Thats All Btw Great Vid po and nice application and explanation po Keep making great vids and have a good day po :))))))

    • those people who said that kali subject in school is crap are those people who are just too lazy to get out of their phones and learn self defense...kung ma hold up sila kunwari sige nga?...how are they gonna defend themselves?

  • Hello, I am from Brazil and I used to practice boxing. I want to understand kali footwork. In boxing, we do not put the feet together. In kali, when do you put the feet together? To start a triangle? Do you walk normally in kali until the opportunity to put the feet together and then make a triangle?

    • You can watch the videos across this channel / train with us via anastacio kali online. My biggest tip to you, though you may not get the full capacity if you don't have a training partner. Spend a lot of time on fundamentals, they will be your cornerstone to everything you will learn! Don't get lost in the fancy stuff, it will come to you.
