Sounds like an excuse in reality. They literally have some of the best players in the world where their teams come up short when it matters. There is no rhyme or reason. They just lose to better teams

Who ever your favourite team is if a Canadian team makes the playoffs you have to cheer for them unless you’re team made the finals
Prior to Bettman, Canadian teams won 66% of all Stanley Cups. Since Bettman, Canada is 0 for 30. What is the statistical chance of that happening, billions to 1 ? Salary cap, country taxes, college players opting out of teams, no trade clauses, limited move clauses, state taxes, etc. Bettman could have made a level playing field… but 0 for 30 says it all.

I just calculated the odds of an American team winning the Stanley Cup every year from 1993-94 through 2022-23, based on the number of teams in the league, and the number of Canadian teams. The streak American teams are on have a 0.061% chance of happening if every team's odds were even.
