    • But if you see it as "hard work", you're setting yourself up for failure. Gotta have a positive mindset and charge $150+ for interiors. It's important to get solid tools to make things easier for you. This is why steamers are excellent for all interior. Imagine the detailers who would do this job with a brush, mf towels, and chemicals

  • You sharing how long your work takes you makes me feel better about myself. I'm currently working for local dealers (10 dollars hourly) that have cars that are usually between 10- 20 years old that never having had real TLC. They rush and ride me and make me feel awful if the smallest thing gets missed. Im saving to get my own equipment and basic setup hopefully by spring.

  • A great trick for fabric after vacuuming. Use wide masking tape rolled backwards onto hand. Grabs tons of hairs you can't get. WORKS GREAT !!!

    @circuitboard283@circuitboard283 Жыл бұрын
  • One thing to keep in mind is conditioning the leather after steaming. This trick works especially well with old brittle leather, but be super careful not to heat it up too much. Too much heat will cause cracking when it cools, but just enough and then an immediate hydration will help rejuvenate it.

  • I’ve been detailing for over a year and still learning but Ive found what works best for pet hair is laundry fabric softener diluted 10:1 with water. Spray on the fabric and let sit for 1-2 minutes and then use a pet hair stone to rake up the hair. Saves me lots of time and energy as well as my sanity. Pet hair removal is a nightmare. I’d rather do my smoke removal than pet hair any day.

    • J & D Motors long and tedious process: if you add that to your arsenal plan and research accordingly. I am expensive to do it but it works great. 1. Use a leaf blower to blow out all the AC vents, 2. Dry foam and detail brush headliner and then shop vac the headliner. 3. Vacuum every inch of the interior. 4. Use tide cold water and drill brush on all carpet and cloth seats. 5. Super clean and detail brush and steamer on all doors, door jambs, dash console, EVERYTHING gets a steam clean. 6. Carpet/cloth extraction. 7. Use Activate on all cloth surfaces. 8. Steam and degreaser on all seat belts. Leather is cleaned with appropriate cleaner and protection. 9. Glass is clean with super clean and magic eraser, then steam. 10. Citrol 266 on all rubber seals. 11. Change cabin air filter. 12. Use a ozone machine as final step with AC on recirculate You will use a lot of product and a crapload of microfiber towels and magic erasers. Pay very close attention to getting all the seat belts, the carpet under the seats and behind the door handles and the head liner. It's a 4-5 hour process for me. Good luck.

    • For nasty smells like smoke i use Ozium in a can, it works pretty good but for bad smoke smells i change the cabin filters and steam all of the vents + headliner

  • I love detailing my own cars, so I love these types of videos. Plus Mitch is so easy on the eyes! Lol 😍 I have a black car, so I think I’m gonna try one of those DA Polishers to keep the paint looking glossy. I also am intrigued by the Aerospace 303, gonna try that as well. Love what your doing, please keep them coming. Now, I’ll be a part of the notification gang! 🔔

    • Definitely get a DA polisher...they are so easy to use and carry an extremely low risk of damaging the paint. With a black car you’re definitely gonna need to be able to polish away the inevitable swirls! Can’t go wrong with Aerospace 303 either 😉

  • i just got myself a little handheld steamer and i am already impressed what it can do. for such basic functionality, with a bit of common sense, one can truly make dream work without breaking the bank. but when it comes to projects like deep clean a car, i still think a delicate steamer is way better, just buy a secondhand one and sell afterwards, (heck why sell if it works well, you can always keep using it). I love tools like this, the principle is just so primitive yet works so well.

  • I have pets at home too. Before I vacuum my carpet, I spray it with a 10/1 solution of fabric softener and water and let it dry for 15-20 min. The fabric softener breaks the static that "glues" the fur to the carpet and helps the vacuum pick it up.

  • Hey brotha. Had a couple questions for you. I’m a 19 year old kid in College (California) and want to start detailing cars. 500 business cards for $10 would do the trick for advertising (leaving them on doors in my city)... but how does it work after that? The person drops the car off at your house, you clean it, they pay you (cash? So not taxed) and then they pick it back up? I see mobile auto detailing but I don’t have the money for a 10 K little trailer. Thanks!

    @nickgaul1209@nickgaul12094 жыл бұрын
    • Hey Nick, yes customers drop their vehicle off with me and just have a friend/family member pick them up and drop them off later (roughly 7-8 hours) when the vehicle is done! I accept either cash or e-transfer before they get the keys back. Yes you should be claiming it as income, but keep in mind you have expenses that go along with that, and if you’re just starting up it’s likely you wouldn’t actually turn a profit (for tax purposes anyways) for a while. I honestly think home-based is way easier to start out because like you said, you avoid needing all the equipment to haul around.
