  • Thanks for the shout out bro! I'm kinda digging the green shade those dmg backlight filters add to make the dmg pocket look more ... dmg like? Anyway keep up the good work and happy holidays!

  • Dude, you could use W-D 40...it takes TEN minutes and not 2 hours. All u have to do is spray some on the screen after u take of the polarizer, wait 10 mins and...pow! What WD-40 does is eats away adhesion, but doesn't eat away plastic! The 8-bit Guy uses it alot. An example of this is in his cartridge restoration video. I recommend you check out his channel 'cause it's good!

  • As you lift the polarizing screens, rub the adhesive side with a q-tip covered in IPA. It will dissolve/break down most adhesives and make it way easier to remove. It's how I do it.

  • 3M has a great "Adhesive Cleaner" (08984) in their portfolio. Just put it on the surface and leave it there for a minute. You'll see the adhesive puff up a bit and it's then really easy just to wipe off the surface with practically no residue (if you waited long enough). Oh, and heating the entire display up from the top with a hair dryer or something will also help a great deal softening up that adhesive so you'll get the sheet off the glass more easily and with less risk of cracking it.

  • You should get a good heat gun, when you were taking out the polarizer and the sticky film you coulve done it much more easier applying a little bit of heat to it, most adhesives tend to flow and lose adhesion when heated. I really liked your content m8, suscribed.

  • Quick question if you don't mind. Can this sort of burn be caused by (incorrectly) fitting a backlight? I ask because I have a backlit wonderswan that has started to develop a similar look, and changing the hue of the screen from blue to pinkish purple in a blotchy formation very similar to what I see in your video around 4.11. I was wondering if it was something I could fix with a similar technique?

  • Hi, I'm sorry to be a pain, and I'm not sure I fit into this group of retro gamers, mostly enjoy seeing people fix or mod things, however I grew up playing hand-me-down game boys and other Nintendo handhelds, I recently found my old yellow game boy colour and I want to fix it up. I have the tri screwdriver thing as I had to replace the screen on my Wii-U, and I'm on my way to buying a new battery cover as well a screen lense, mine is really scratched up. I've watched your videos as well as some others about the GBC, so I'm fairly certain I know what I'm getting into. XDD Anyway, I was wondering what I should be on the look out for as potential red flags online, or any common problems with game boys I should be on the look out for, thank you and sorry again for taking up your time.

    • The screen on the 101 is a backlit LCD. The 001 is a front lit screen and the gameboy color screen is basically the same but without the front light. I don't think you can do much to fix the 101's screen because it has a metal frame around it but I have seen replacement screens on ebay for around 25-30$. It's cheaper than a whole new AGS-101. Apparently it's also possible to fit those replacement AGS-101 screen into the original GBA.
