UPDATE: Bandsets no longer available, but this video is still loaded with good stuff!
Slingshots grow on trees. With this simple kit, you can find a branch and turn it into a slingshot with serious potential. Watch this video to see how simple it is!

  • FINALLY a video that gave some simple direct guidelines to how long you want cut your fork! Thank you!

  • That's how I started with slingshots 50-years ago. I used the fork from an olive tree, rubber bands (doubled) from the drug store (general store), and a pouch I stole from Mom's sewing kit. I could not count the number of stones that went downrage in my neighborhood. :) Fun stuff!

    • 60 years ago for me. Those fat bands never lasted very long. They started much too long and then gradually got shorter as they deteriorated at the ends and were salvaged. Didn't have SimplyShot back then to explain the optimum setup.

  • Now here is a man that truly loves his sport. In this video he is basically telling people how to keep from spending money on products his company makes and sells. This kind of straight forward, honest company is where I like to spend my money... Wait a minute. Apparently this is a reverse psychology kind of thing. He tells us we don't have to buy slingshots from him and that makes us want to buy from him. Genius marketing idea. haha... Great video, Nathan.

    • We do make our living from selling slingshots, but we love the sport even more than making money. So I guess it's a win win? :)

  • I got some eucalyptus fire wood and found a perfect branch for a sling shot. I trimmed it to size to make it a smaller side shooter, made grooves at the forks and bought replacement tube bands at big5. Now im going to assemble it and try it. Would have never cared to make one till i found that branch and have been looking online how to make and aim one. Cant wait.

  • Very nice! I like how you said a "simple saw". Maybe you should sell simple saws and a simple pocket knife in a kit with bands.

  • Great video! Thank you for taking the time to help people understand this old skill! When I was 10 years old I saved my money and sent away for a ScopeShot out of a comic book. That was over 40 years ago. Haven’t lost my love for them!

  • I started out by making my own slingshots buying bands from Simple Shot. I just made another one, but I bought my first one from them. For some reason it seems to shoot better than any of the ones I've made, and I've made many Rambones, Rambimis, my own designs, and of course, natural forks.

  • This is one of the most inspiring videos I have ever seen! That Nathan, with a business that sell slingshots and all related products, would explain so brilliantly how to make your own slingshot from a branch (and elsewhere how to do it with rubber bands from a dollar store) is true dedication to the art. SimpleShot deserves all I have spent there and all I intend to spend. Well done!

    • @@simpleshot That joy is so inspiring and can go a long way in many directions. Vermin extermination is fine but some use a slingshot to plant trees -- slingshot reforestation.

    • @@simpleshot The world is full of as yet unreached potential slingshotists. Perhaps consider this perspective: A Gift A mist of water, make it get just moist enough, not really wet, Don't want seeds germinating yet Just damp enough so they adhere Then form each perfect little sphere And then we add the fine veneer. About three seeds, tight squeeze, then a Thin slimy coat of liquid clay Then leave to dry at least a day A table set, two glasses there For each of us a comfy chair We shoot our missiles through the air. Only native seeds are sown Blooms that here have ever grown We sow each valley with its own The seedballs chosen well we push On moor? on veldt? -- the Aussie Bush? West Chaparral or Hindu Kush? But also a waste urban clime Or verge of country road sublime Wants but a floral spray sometime If fortune smiles then it could be A blooming, seeding legacy A floral gift from me and thee (permission to use, granted)

    • Update: I still live in a desert, but there are some deciduous trees on the grounds of my office building. Not quite a year ago (about the time I made this post), the buildings & grounds guy was pruning. I asked him to leave the branches on the ground for a day while I went through them and harvested forks. I got about 20, with about 4 really good ones. I promised to make a slingshot for him out of one of them. They've been drying for almost a year now, so it's just about time to make them!

  • Is there a reason you used OTT instead of TTF?....I've watched a lot of your videos and you mention it doesn't matter really but with OTT is easier to get band slap, and also in the directional card each one that I've received says it's, "correct" to shoot OTT and "incorrect" to shoot TTF with the wrap and tuck method....I just want to clarify...I have a axiom champ slingshot along with the dead ringer
