  • My husband and I came on holiday to Ireland in 2001. We travelled around for about a month and decided that we wanted to come and stay here. Eventually we moved here from South Africa in 2018. We love Ireland and the Irish people. They go out of their way for you and are very friendly. My husband's great grandfather is from Ireland. Thank you Ireland for welcoming us.

    • My great great grandpa came to Canada from Ireland in 1832, established himself in Ontario. The house he built there is still standing and inhabited (street is named after him). My biggest hope is to visit his homeland,see where he grew up and get a real sense of the country. When I’m asked of my heritage,Irish always comes before Canadian,but proud to acknowledge both.

  • My wife and I just returned from Ireland on a pilgrimage of visiting old friends and tracking down some family along the way. We spent 2 weeks visiting many places along the way starting in Dublin and visiting fantastic locations like Aherlow to visit some friends. Then on to Abbyfeale for another visit with another old friend. We then moved on to Dingle (Loved it) and we explored many of the places you showed in this video. From there we went up to Doolin with a stop for lunch in Listowel with our friend from Abbeyfeale. We were hoping for the Cliffs of Moher but it was wet and stormy but had a great time with a great dinner at Fiddle & Bow and some great Irish music at the local pubs. From Doolin we traveled up to Gallway to again see some more old friends of ours and again had a really great visit and spent some time walking this fantastic city. We then traveled into Clifden where we stayed at a B&B and really enjoyed our host at the Shanakeever Farm - Bed & breakfast. From Clifden our goal was to find my wifes 2nd cousin in Cloghbrack. On the way we stopped in and walked the amazing Kylemore Abby and then onto Leenaun and veered off onto the R336. From there my wife had me turn at the L1301 into the highlands towards Loch Na Fooey. I literally asked her "What have you got me into this time", it was so off the beaten path but I'm so glad we did. What a beautiful drive that was with vistas at every turn and a truly amazing drive. Our destination was Clonbur where my wife last met her 2nd cousin from Cloghbrack some 38 years earlier on a trip with her parents. She showed me the hotel they stayed at and the pub across the street from all those years ago. Now my wife had no contact information for her cousin but from a tip from a local we went into the pub and asked the woman behind the bar if they knew her cousin or if any of the family were still in the area and amazingly she did know of them. My wife asked for directions to their house but she said "have a seat and I'll call him". She came back 5 minutes later said "John will be here in 10 minutes". Can you believe that!? I was speechless. Well in 10 minutes John walked in and we had an amazing visit with him and my wife was ecstatic and so happy. We went onto Gong and stayed the night there. On a tip from our host in Cong he said the only way to see Ashford Castle was to either book a room, book dinner or walk in after hours as the castle is now a privet hotel and not open to the general public. We walked in that night (Amazing!) and the next day had tea at the tea house and walked the outside areas. If anyone goes just tell the guard at the gate that your going in for tea. He actually was quite nice and said...several times before I got the point - "Your going in for tea right?" and he let us pass. After some tea and a walk we drove all the way back across the country to Maynooth just outside Dublin and spent our last night in Ireland at the Glenroyal Hotel (we highly recommend this hotel and absolutely book a dinner reservation in their restaurant). We flew off to London the next day and spent the next 3 days in Wales with our good friend from home and her family. I can't say enough about this great country and next time I will be visiting my ancestral home up in Donegal.

  • The parking near Hag’s Head was a great tip. Following the Cliffs of Moher Coastal Walk sign from Liscannor takes you there. The paths have also been overhauled and are in much better shape than the trampled trails 20 years ago (or the officially closed ones that people would still walk along about 15 yrs ago.) But *ahem* somebody seems to be telling people about a shuttle to take tourist back to the visitor‘s centre from Hag’s Head … I don’t think that’s a thing. (I sense a business idea for moving to Ireland, though … Tuk-Tuk shuttle services, anybody? Just 10 € per person.)

  • Great video. Thank you. I would like to suggest two topics for additional videos. 1. Getting around Ireland on buses. I have been to Ireland seven times and am going again this summer. Rental cars are soooo expensive and I'm too old and too nervous to drive on Irish roads, so I take the bus which I find very comfortable. But it would be great to see a video about places that are easily accessible by bus and which require less than a mile's walk from the bus stop. Also info about planning bus trips in advance (online routes, schedules). Also BusEireann vs. Go Bus vs. Local buses, etc. Bus etiquette. How and where to buy your ticket, etc. 2. A video on learning the Irish language by studying in a Gaeltacht would be helpful to those of us who are learning Irish online in America. Discuss various Gaeltacht areas and the Irish language schools (for adults) that exist there. If you've already done these videos, please let me know. Go raibh maith agat. (I'm practicing my Irish. 🙂)

  • Great video. Have been to nearly all these places having taken the ferry to Dublin, went down to Waterford via Kilkenny, then across to County Kerry, and then so the way up to County Donegal mostly along the Wild Atlantic Way. So I was ticking off all the places you recommended, the Copper Coast (which was really just luck going from Waterford to Cobh and choosing a scenic route), Mizen Head, Killarney National Park, the Ring of Kerry, the Burren (didn't stop at the Cliffs of Moher but passed by because the weather was atrocious when we were there, you wouldn't have seen a thing), Connamara, Doolough Valley, Achill Island, Slieve League, and Errigal Mountain (didn't do as much walking as in your video, but did a fair bit) . Only a few places missed, like Baltimore Lighthouse, Dursey Ireland, the caves in County Sligo, the Rock of Cashel, and the Wicklow Mountains, and the Giant's Causeway (have done the last three before and can't do everything). A few places I've been in surprised weren't on your list were the Dingle Peninsula, the Mountains of Mourne, and of course Newgrange, which even if you don't pay to go and see the actual monument the landscape around it is enchanting and a bit like the area around Stonehenge (in a different way of course). And as well, I'm not sure if it's on the Causeway Coast but it's not far away if it isn't, there is the Gobbins cliffside walk, which is amazing (if you've not done this, you have to, I've not done anything like it). There are so many other places as well I'm sure I've forgotten about, it is such an amazing country and the people are very welcoming and you always have a good craic.

      @Live.Adventure.Travel@Live.Adventure.Travel Жыл бұрын
    • @@Live.Adventure.Travel I'll let you off then!!! 😉 The view from the, what I believe is the highest pass in Ireland above the town of Dingle is spectacular. And you are so right about the Ring of Skellig, part of the Ring of Kerry. There is a viewpoint called the Kerry Cliffs not far from Portmagee that looks out over the Skelligs (surely a must see the any Star Wars fan) that is spectacular as well and not to be missed (and much cheaper than the Cliffs of Moher), and a beautiful beach and bay at Ballinskelligs as well (and the Staigue Stone Fort as well, which is still worth exploring). I look forward to your best video with I'm sure even more beautiful locations.

  • I went to school in Ireland in the late 70s. I traveled though out the Republic with my Professors. The family I lived with was headed by Dervla Henry, a teacher of Irish and, in the summer, Ireland's best tour guide. I was very lucky. I was able to travel independently with my Father while I was in school, instructed by my Irish Mom on the itinerary. I've been back a few times since. I love your sugesstions.

  • If you want a guided walk of the Cliffs of Moher local farmer Patrick Sweeney offers them starting in Doolin While your're visiting the burren, the pulnabrone dolmen is in the area and is only busy when the tour buses show up We paid for a tour of Gap of Dunloe that picks you up in downtown Killarney and drops you at Kate Kearney's Cottage. From there you ride a jaunting car thru the GoD to Lord Brandons Lodge for lunch. After lunch a boat ride across upper lake Killarney, under the old weir and brickeen bridges, and across Lough Leane brings you to Ross Castle where the return bus is waiting for you. What a delightful day Thanks Laura for all other other great ideas for our next visit

  • Laura we just found you and so glad we did!!! We are traveling to Ireland at the end of May-June. My ancestors are Irish and can not wait to visit!!! You’re selling this well, I’m already thinking we either need to extend our trip by a week or two or plan another trip next year 😂

  • Visited the Cliffs of Moher in 1992. No visitor centre. There was just my friends and myself there. Gorgeous. Visited Newgrange a year later. The visitor centre was a little hut at the bottom of the field that the tomb stands in. I think I visited these places at the best time.

  • Just about everywhere we are planning to visit during our two week trip was on your list. Unfortunately we’ll need at least two more weeks to visit all of the other amazing spots you shared. Great video!

  • Achill island, the Aran islands off the West Coast are well worth a visit. Very busy in high season. West Cork is really spectacular. Also the Titanic exhibition in Belfast is worth seeing. Huge investment was poured into this attraction.

  • Love this AND your 7 day itinerary video. If we did not want to rent a car would you recommend a transport company for us to hire? Or do you think we could just do Public transport and book private cabs along the way?

  • And... Don't forget Donegal! is a gem of the northwest, and the Gaeltacht! Also, I see your Yellowstone Jumper, Grand, but keep going West when you visit America, to ( drumroll) Bend Oregon and Central Oregon. We need more Irish here!

    • Yes, Dave. Cliffs of Moher much overrated. In fact you will find footage of the cliffs (drones etc.) give you a wonderful experience. No need to go there.

  • Another good way to visit the Cliffs of Moher is by bicycle. There are four cycle hubs all starting in Doolin and one leads also to the Cliffs. You don‘t have to pay any fees there, when you arrive as a cyclist. And I am missing Dingle and the Dingle Peninsula and Cobh on your list. Aren‘t you recommend those two? And if not, why not? But the other destinations, some of them I know and love, but you also gave me some new ideas for my next and eighth trip to the emerald isle☺️

  • Really loved your video. Breathtaking scenery! How many days would you recommend to spend in Ireland? I've already been in Dublin and mostly interested in nature/art/culture. Planning to go in February. And better to rent a car or public transportation?🤔🍀
